New Black Panther leader: Officer Darren Wilson wanted 'dead or alive'
On Sunday, Mauricelm-Lei Millere, a "lead advisor and liaison" for the New Black Panther Party, said on his Facebook page that Darren Wilson, the Ferguson,
Missouri, police officer who shot Michael Brown, is wanted, "dead or
alive." Millere also identifies himself as a "national organizer
working in Ferguson."
"Darren Wilson is wanted Dead or Alive," he wrote. He followed that up with: "African American Defense League." The post contains a picture of Wilson claiming the officer is "armed and dangerous."
The message was posted two days after another post in which he advocated violence against Martin Baker, a black Republican candidate who expressed support for due process in the case while supporting the family of Mike Brown. According to Progressives Today, Baker "stood shoulder to shoulder with Mike Brown’s parents" and MSNBC activist Al Sharpton on the courthouse steps in St. Louis after the shooting. Later that day, he attended a rally for Wilson.
“I support due process for Officer Wilson as I support it for the Brown Family," he said. "I firmly believe in equal justice under the law.”
But that didn't sit too well with Millere. While others simply hurled racist slurs at Baker, Millere advocated violence.
"Martin Baker must be caught, beat, drug, and whipped to the point of seeing the light for supporting white racist murderer Darren Wilson," he wrote on Facebook. "We must physically beat this jiggaboo to save him from destruction, or destroying us."
Millere, however, wasn't finished and gave his followers additional instructions. "Find him, detain him, beat him, and await further instructions," he wrote in a comment.
Writing at The Bell News, Patch Adams said that since Baker was not directly threatened, there's nothing police can do. Adams posted a screenshot of the Facebook post in question. A few of Millere's supporters agreed, hurling racial epithets.
The post saying Wilson is wanted dead or alive is eerily similar to one the New Black Panthers issued for George Zimmerman, the neighborhood watch volunteer acquitted in the shooting death of Trayvon Martin. The radical hate group also issued a $10,000 reward for Zimmerman.
Update: Millere's Facebook page is no longer available to the general public.
Update #2: As of 9:45 p.m. Pacific time, Millere's page is back up.
