White House spokesman jokes about Islamic attacks on Christian churches in Egypt

The White House’s deputy press secretary today downplayed Muslim attacks on Christians in Egypt, joking about the savagery  that has left at least six Christians dead.
Press secretary Josh Earnest was asked by Fox News’ correspondent, Ed Henry, if President Barack Obama has a “red line” beyond which he would act against Muslim attacks on Egyptian Christians.
“Well, I didn’t bring my red pen out with me today,” Earnest joked.

After making his joke, Earnest said the administration is “outraged… and concerned” about the Muslim attacks on almost 100 churches, monasteries, orphanages and other marked Christian sites. Many Christians’ shops and homes have also been looted and burned by mobs.
But Earnest didn’t name or criticize the attackers, even though he did charge the military with perpetrating “violence… against peaceful protestors.”
“I can tell you that we have condemned in unambiguous terms all the violence that’s has been perpetrated there in Egypt,” he said.
“We have been concerned and condemned the violence that has been perpetrated by the government against peaceful protestors, and we’re just as outraged and just as concerned about reports that Christian churches have been targeted,” he said.
During the last year, Obama backed the brotherhood-backed elected prime minister, and is now considering whether to strongly push for its return to power.
“The violence in Egypt should come to an end… and that is the way we’re going to facilitate the kind of reconciliation that will allow the interim government to make good on their promise to transition back to a democratically elected civilian government,” Earnest added.
The anti-Christian attacks began shortly after massive public protests prompted the military to remove the president and parliament, all of whom were backed by the Muslim Brotherhood.
The brotherhood’s medium-term goal is the creation of an regional Islamic government, in which women and non-Muslims would have a subordinate legal status.
Christians say the attackers are supporters of the Muslim Brotherhood, who dislike Christianity and who are angry at the Christians’ support of the military rules.
Also, the attacks may be intended to help the brotherhood portray the struggle as a battle between a Christian-backed military government and the vast majority of Egyptians, who see themselves as observant Muslims.
Only 10 percent of Egypt’s 80 million population are Christians, after centuries of apartheid-like official discrimination following the Muslim invasion 1,350 years ago.
Christians allege the government’s soldiers and police — nearly all of whom are Muslim — have done little to protect them from the attacks.

DNI Statement on the Collection of Intelligence Pursuant to Section 702 of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act

DNI Statement on the Collection of Intelligence Pursuant to Section 702
of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act

Over the last week we have seen reckless disclosures of intelligence community measures used to keep Americans safe. In a rush to publish, media outlets have not given the full context–including the extent to which these programs are overseen by all three branches of government–to these effective tools.

In particular, the surveillance activities published in The Guardian and The Washington Post are lawful and conducted under authorities widely known and discussed, and fully debated and authorized by Congress. Their purpose is to obtain foreign intelligence information, including information necessary to thwart terrorist and cyber attacks against the United States and its allies.

Our ability to discuss these activities is limited by our need to protect intelligence sources and methods. Disclosing information about the specific methods the government uses to collect communications can obviously give our enemies a “playbook” of how to avoid detection. Nonetheless, Section 702 has proven vital to keeping the nation and our allies safe. It continues to be one of our most important tools for the protection of the nation’s security.

However, there are significant misimpressions that have resulted from the recent articles. Not all the inaccuracies can be corrected without further revealing classified information. I have, however, declassified for release the attached details about the recent unauthorized disclosures in hope that it will help dispel some of the myths and add necessary context to what has been published.

Change TCP/IP settings

Change TCP/IP settings

TCP/IP defines the language that your computer uses to communicate with other computers. We recommend using automated Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) to automatically assign Internet Protocol (IP) addresses to the computers on your network, if your network supports it. If you use DHCP, then you don't have to change your settings if you move your computer to another location, and DHCP doesn't require you to manually configure settings such as Domain Name System (DNS) and Windows Internet Name Service (WINS).
  1. Open Network Connections by clicking the Start button Picture of the Start button, clicking Control Panel, clicking Network and Internet, clicking Network and Sharing Center, and then clicking Manage network connections.
  2. Right-click the connection that you want to change, and then click Properties. Administrator permission required If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.
  3. Click the Networking tab. Under This connection uses the following items, click either Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4) or Internet Protocol Version 6 (TCP/IPv6), and then click Properties.
  4. To specify IPv4 IP address settings, do one of the following:
    • To obtain IP settings automatically, click Obtain an IP address automatically, and then click OK.
    • To specify an IP address, click Use the following IP address, and then, in the IP address, Subnet mask, and Default gateway boxes, type the IP address settings.
  5. To specify IPv6 IP address settings, do one of the following:
    • To obtain IP settings automatically, click Obtain an IPv6 address automatically, and then click OK.
    • To specify an IP address, click Use the following IPv6 address, and then, in the IPv6 address, Subnet prefix length, and Default gateway boxes, type the IP address settings.
  6. To specify DNS server address settings, do one of the following:
    • To obtain a DNS server address automatically, click Obtain DNS server address automatically, and then click OK.
    • To specify a DNS server address, click Use the following DNS server addresses, and then, in the Preferred DNS server and Alternate DNS server boxes, type the addresses of the primary and secondary DNS servers.
  7. To change DNS, WINS, and IP settings, click Advanced.

It would be a “dream come true” to draft legislation and impeach President Obama, Rep. Kerry Bentivolio told a crowd of supporters in a video posted to YouTube Tuesday.
Bentivolio, a reindeer farmer turned Republican congressman, was elected in 2012 after incumbent Rep. Thad McCotter decided to retire after it came out that his campaign had filed fraudulent signatures to get him on the ballot.
“If I could write that bill and submit it,” Bentivolio said, as the original questioner interrupted and admonished him to “Do it!”
“It would be a dream come true,” he added. ”I feel your pain. I know. I stood 12-feet away from the guy and listened to him,” he added. “And I couldn’t stand being there, but because he is president, I have to respect the office. That’s my job, as a congressman. I respect the office.”
Bentivolio added that he’s met with lawyers to discuss impeachment, but also acknowledged he needs grounds to bring articles of impeachment against the president.
“Until we have the evidence, you’re going to become a laughing stock if you’ve submitted a bill to impeach the president, because number one, you’ve got to convince the press,” he said.
He suggested one hypothetical situation in which he might receive an email showing the president’s chief of staff directed former IRS official Lois Lerner to target Tea Party groups, as possible evidence he could use, but failed to note anything he has now.
Watch Rep. Bentivolio talk about impeachment at 27:40 on the video below.
While he said he lacks the grounds for it, this is not the first time Republican lawmakers have discussed the president’s impeachment during this congressional recess period, and Bentivolio may not be alone in his desire to impeach the president.
Last week Texas Rep. Blake Farenthold told supporters that he could probably “find the votes” in the House of Representative to bring articles of impeachment against the president. While he never specifically explained what those grounds for impeachment would be, he made the comments in the midst of a discussion of the president’s “birth certificate.”
“I think unfortunately the House is already out of the barn on this, on the whole birth certificate issue,” he said. “The original Congress, when his eligibility came up, should have looked into it and they didn’t. I’m not sure how we fix it.”
“If we were to impeach the president tomorrow, you could probably get the votes in the House of Representatives to do it,” he said. “But it would go to the Senate and he wouldn’t be convicted.”
Fellow Texan, Sen. Ted Cruz, echoed those remarks at an event on Monday, when asked why not impeach the president.
“It’s a good question,” Cruz said in response. “And I’ll tell you the simplest answer: To successfully impeach a president you need the votes in the U.S. Senate.”
Protesters popped up near an event Obama held in Florida earlier this month with signs that encouraged the president’s impeachment, and at least one other that said “Kenyan Go Home.”
The national conversation to impeach the president has been fueled in part by an upcoming book “Impeachable Offenses: The Case for Removing Barack Obama from Office” that’s set to be released by WND Books next week.
The authors of that book lay out a number of criticisms of the president, including his handling of the attack on the U.S. consulate in Benghazi and his failure to “preserve, protect, and defend” the Constitution. That includes the argument that the president’s health reform law is unconstitutional, even though the Supreme Court ruled more than a year ago that it is constitutional.

AP -- 'Syrian Rebels Obama Is Arming Are NOT Our Friends…'
(ASSOCIATED PRESS) -- The Obama administration is opposed to even limited U.S. military intervention in Syria because it believes rebels fighting the Assad regime wouldn’t support American interests if they were to seize power right now, Gen. Martin Dempsey, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, wrote to a congressman in a letter obtained by The Associated Press.
Effectively ruling out U.S. cruise missile attacks and other options that wouldn’t require U.S. troops on the ground, Dempsey said the military is clearly capable of taking out Syrian President Bashar Assad’s air force and shifting the balance of the Arab country’s 2½-year war back toward the armed opposition. But he said such an approach would plunge the United States deep into another war in the Arab world and offer no strategy for peace in a nation plagued by ethnic rivalries.
“Syria today is not about choosing between two sides but rather about choosing one among many sides,” Dempsey said in the letter Aug. 19 to Rep. Eliot Engel, D-N.Y. “It is my belief that the side we choose must be ready to promote their interests and ours when the balance shifts in their favor. Today, they are not.”
Dempsey’s pessimistic assessment will hardly please members of the fractured Syrian opposition leadership and some members of the administration who have championed greater support to help the rebellion end Assad’s four-decade family dynasty. Despite almost incessant bickering and internal disputes, some opposition groups have worked with the United States and other European and Arab supporters to try to form a cohesive, inclusive movement dedicated to a democratic and multiethnic state. Rep. Bentivolio: It Would Be a Dream Come True to Impeach Obama

Evidence is key to getting obama out of office. Rep Bentivolio IMO is a representation of the sentiment by some in DC who would like to remove the imperial emperor from his throne, but as I have said over the course of all the scandals coming out there is no smoking gun. I hate to say it but I don’t think there will be because of the network he has built under him with Valerie Jarrett calling the shots on his behalf. Like the congressman says if they get a hard piece of evidence on say the IRS scandal, a directive from obama to Lerner to target conservatives then he is done.
I think there is something out there to bring him down the problem is the individual(s) possessing that evidence are saving it for their own personal gain! Days of doing things for God and Country are over, it’s now about what’s in it for me.
