Remove Win32.downloader.gen Trojan(Removal Guide)

Win32.downloader.gen is the generic description from Avira, Microsoft, Avast and ESET of unknown Trojans which are detected by its antivirus heuristic engine.
Win32.downloader.gen is distributed through several means. Malicious websites, or legitimate websites that have been compromised, may drop this trojan onto a compromised computer. This drive-by-download often happens surreptitiously. Another method used to propagate this type of malware is spam email containing infected attachments or links to malicious websites. The threat may also be downloaded manually by tricking the user into thinking they are installing a useful piece of software.
Win32.downloader.gen virus is also prevalent on peer-to-peer file sharing websites and is often packaged with pirated or illegally acquired software.
Win32.downloader.gen is a type of trojan that installs itself to the system and waits until an Internet connection becomes available to connect to a remote server or website in order to download additional programs (usually malware) onto the infected computer.
Once its primary download/execution routine is completed, it may also proceed to a secondary payload routine.
If your antivirus has detected any variant of the Win32.downloader.gen virus, you should quarantine this infection (by selecting “Move to quarantine“), and following the below removal guide.

Obama Bans Islam, Jihad From National Security Strategy Document

Obama Bans Islam, Jihad From National Security Strategy Document

WASHINGTON -- President Barack Obama's advisers will remove religious terms such as "Islamic extremism" from the central document outlining the U.S. national security strategy and will use the rewritten document to emphasize that the United States does not view Muslim nations through the lens of terror, counterterrorism officials said.
The change is a significant shift in the National Security Strategy, a document that previously outlined the Bush Doctrine of preventative war and currently states: "The struggle against militant Islamic radicalism is the great ideological conflict of the early years of the 21st century."
The officials described the changes on condition of anonymity because the document still was being written, and the White House would not discuss it. But rewriting the strategy document will be the latest example of Obama putting his stamp on U.S. foreign policy, like his promises to dismantle nuclear weapons and limit the situations in which they can be used.
The revisions are part of a larger effort about which the White House talks openly, one that seeks to change not just how the United States talks to Muslim nations, but also what it talks to them about, from health care and science to business startups and education.
That shift away from terrorism has been building for a year, since Obama went to Cairo, Egypt, and promised a "new beginning" in the relationship between the United States and the Muslim world. The White House believes the previous administration based that relationship entirely on fighting terror and winning the war of ideas.
"You take a country where the overwhelming majority are not going to become terrorists, and you go in and say, 'We're building you a hospital so you don't become terrorists.' That doesn't make much sense," said National Security Council staffer Pradeep Ramamurthy.
Ramamurthy runs the administration's Global Engagement Directorate, a four-person National Security Council team that Obama launched last May with little fanfare and a vague mission to use diplomacy and outreach "in pursuit of a host of national security objectives."
Since then, the division has not only helped change the vocabulary of fighting terror but also has shaped the way the country invests in Muslim businesses, studies global warming, supports scientific research and combats polio.
Before diplomats go abroad, they hear from the Ramamurthy or his deputy, Jenny Urizar. When officials from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration returned from Indonesia, the NSC got a rundown about research opportunities on global warming.
Ramamurthy maintains a database of interviews conducted by 50 U.S. embassies worldwide. And business leaders from more than 40 countries head to Washington this month for an "entrepreneurship summit" for Muslim businesses.
"Do you want to think about the U.S. as the nation that fights terrorism or the nation you want to do business with?" Ramamurthy said.
To deliver that message, Obama's speechwriters have taken inspiration from an unlikely source: former President Ronald Reagan. Visiting communist China in 1984, Reagan spoke to Fudan University in Shanghai about education, space exploration and scientific research.
He discussed freedom and liberty. He never mentioned communism or democracy.
"They didn't look up to the U.S. because we hated communism," said Deputy National Security Adviser Ben Rhodes, Obama's foreign policy speechwriter.
Like Reagan in China, Obama in Cairo made only passing references to terrorism. Instead he focused on cooperation. He announced the United States would team up to fight polio with the Organisation of the Islamic Conference, a multinational body based in Saudi Arabia.
The United States and the OIC had worked together before, but never with that focus.
"President Obama saw it as an opportunity to say, `We work on things far beyond the war on terrorism,"' said World Health Organization spokeswoman Sona Bari.
Polio is endemic in three Muslim countries -- Nigeria, Pakistan and Afghanistan -- but some Muslim leaders have been suspicious of vaccination efforts, which they believed to be part of a CIA sterilization campaign. Last year, the OIC and religious scholars at the International Islamic Fiqh Academy issued a fatwa, or religious decree, that parents should have their children vaccinated.
"We're probably entering into a whole new level of engagement between the OIC and the polio program because of the stimulus coming from the U.S. government," said Michael Galway, who works on polio eradication for the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.
The Centers for Disease Control also began working more closely with local Islamic leaders in northern Nigeria, a network that had been overlooked for years, said John Fitzsimmons, the deputy director of the CDC's immunization division.
Though health officials are reluctant to assign credit to any one action, new polio cases in Nigeria fell from 83 during the first quarter of last year to just one so far this year, Fitzsimmons said.
Public opinion polls also showed consistent improvement in U.S. sentiment within the Muslim world last year, although the viewpoints are still overwhelmingly negative, however.
Obama did not invent Muslim outreach. President George W. Bush gave the White House its first Quran, hosted its first Iftar dinner to celebrate Ramadan, and loudly stated support for Muslim democracies like Turkey.
But the Bush administration struggled with its rhetoric. Muslims criticized him for describing the war against terror as a "crusade" and labeling the invasion of Afghanistan "Operation Infinite Justice" -- words that were seen as religious. He regularly identified America's enemy as "Islamic extremists" and "radical jihadists."
Karen Hughes, a Bush confidant who served as his top diplomat to the Muslim world in his second term, urged the White House to stop.
"I did recommend that, in my judgment, it's unfortunate because of the way it's heard. We ought to avoid the language of religion," Hughes said. "Whenever they hear 'Islamic extremism, Islamic jihad, Islamic fundamentalism,' they perceive it as a sort of an attack on their faith. That's the world view Osama bin Laden wants them to have."
Hughes and Juan Zarate, Bush's former deputy national security adviser, said Obama's efforts build on groundwork from Bush's second term, when some of the rhetoric softened. But by then, Zarate said, it was overshadowed by the Guantanamo Bay detention center, the abuses at Abu Ghraib prison and a prolonged Iraq war.
"In some ways, it didn't matter what the president did or said. People weren't going to be listening to him in the way we wanted them to," Zarate said. "The difference is, President Obama had a fresh start."
Obama's foreign policy posture is not without political risk. Even as Obama steps up airstrikes on terrorists abroad, he has proven vulnerable to Republican criticism on security issues at home, such as the failed Christmas Day airline bombing and the announced-then-withdrawn plan to prosecute 9/11 mastermind Khalid Sheikh Mohammed in New York.
Peter Feaver, a Duke University political scientist and former Bush adviser, is skeptical of Obama's engagement effort. It "doesn't appear to have created much in the way of strategic benefit" in the Middle East peace process or in negotiations over Iran's nuclear ambitions, he said.
Obama runs the political risk of seeming to adopt politically correct rhetoric abroad while appearing tone deaf on national security issues at home, Feaver said.
The White House dismisses such criticism. In June, Obama will travel to Indonesia, the world's most populous Muslim country, and is expected to revisit many of the themes of his Cairo speech.
"This is the long-range direction we need to go in," Ramamurthy said.

James Carville: Obama should take a toke from a crack pipe

Obama smoking as a young man
Clinton political strategist James Carville appeared on “Morning Joe” yesterday with Joe Scarborough on MSNBC and suggested that President Obama needs to take a hit off the crack pipe. Carville, known for colorful and controversial remarks, appears to be aware of the rumors about the president using cocaine in making this comment suggesting he should take a toke of crack cocaine.
Carville said, “I think the best thing he can do is take a toke on the mayor of Toronto’s crack pipe because his numbers are about 48.” This is a reference to Toronto Mayor Rob Ford, who recently admitted he had smoked crack at least once, and apparently has higher approval ratings than President Obama.
Carville once responded to the controversial Herman Cain “smoking” advertisement, in which Cain’s campaign manager Mark Block is seen taking a puff from a cigarette, and suggested that Block was “drunk of stoned” in the advertisement. Carville said, “If that guy wasn’t drunk, I haven’t taken a drink in my life, he was as high as he can be…he was drunk or stoned, he had some kind of chemical in him.

Iran's statement on Syria shows signs of desperation

Mohamed Javad Zarif being interviewed on BBC on Monday
Mohamed Javad Zarif being interviewed on BBC on Monday
A statement by Iran's foreign minister, Mohamed Javad Zarif, to a BBC interviewer is so completely full of falsehoods that it sounds like desperation. Zarif expressed outrage at terrorism and extremism by Sunni jihadists, while totally ignoring 30 years of Iranian Shia terrorism through the Revolutionary Guard Corp and through direct funding of Hezbollah and other violent terrorist groups. Sunni jihadists are now targeting Hezbollah, Iran's allies in Syria, and Iran itself. Call it kismet, call it karma, or call it comeuppance, Iran is now facing well-deserved retribution.
Zarif began the interview by parroting the usual line -- there is no military solution, there has to be a political solution -- not mentioning that Iran is fully involved militarily in Syria. Then, the BBC interviewer, Jeremy Bowen, asked about the role of jihadists in Syria (my transcription):
That is a threat to all of us. The role of jihadists, the role of extremists, these are a band of mobile people, most of them non-Syrian, who are moving from Chechnya to Afghanistan to Yemen, the [next] day to Iraq to Syria, and wreaking havoc in all these countries. It's in the interest of everybody to understand that extremists will not be able to be contained in one country. If they give rise to extremism, this is a fire that will engulf them and will burn them. We've got to understand that extremism has no boundaries. Terrorism has no boundaries. We need to collectively deal with them thru serious measures to prevent them from wreaking havoc.
This is exactly the point that I've been making for months, except that I place the blame squarely on Iran and Russia. Iran and Russia have been supplying fighters and weapons to Shia/Alawite Bashar al-Assad, who is trying to exterminate all the Sunnis in Syria. So of course the Sunni jihadists from countries near and far are going to flock to Syria to fight al-Assad. Are the Iranian and Russian leaders so incredibly stupid that they didn't think that would happen? Apparently so. But that's typical of the utter stupidity of many politicians in many countries.
As I've said in the past, I believe that a tipping point has already been reached in Syria, and that there's no way to stop the rising sectarian conflict in the Mideast. With hundreds of thousands of deaths, and many millions of refugees, the countries around Syria are now so destabilized that there's no way to recover without a full-scale war.
At this point, Bowen said that the war in Syria has increased Sunni/Shia tensions. He asked Zarif how serious this sectarian tension is for the Mideast and the world:
I think it's probably the most serious security threat not only to the region, but to the world at large. And I think all of us, and Iran is committed to this and when I was in Turkey with our Turkish friends, regardless of our differences over Syria, we need to work together on this sectarian issue.
When I was in Iraq we agreed with the Iraqi friends that we need to work together, that this was the single most important problem that we all - we ALL face. And I believe we can work with everybody in the region, with Saudi Arabia, with the countries in the Persian Gulf, with other countries in the region, with others, in order to contain this threat, because this -- some people have fanned the animosity for short-sighted political interests."
At this point, Bowen interrupted and said, "Saudis - you mean the Saudis." Zarif was obviously talking about Iran's hated enemy, the Saudis, but refused to say so.
The more that Zarif spoke, the more his words rang hollow. Iran not only has NOT been working to "contain this threat," but in fact Iran has been the principal cause, along with Russia, of the sectarian threat.
Iran's economy is on the ropes because of the international sanctions, while Saudi Arabia has an almost unlimited amount of money to fund anti-Assad fighters in Syria. (See "11-Nov-13 World View -- Saudi Arabia's plans for Syria intervention face many obstacles")
So now Zarif is whining that the Saudis have "fanned the animosity for short-sighted political interests," ignoring that's what Iran has been doing for years.
I'm talking about certain countries that have called various names about Shia Crescent, and all of that -- this business of fear-mongering has been a prevalent business. I think we need to come to understand that sectarian divide in the Islamic world is a threat to all of us. Nobody can benefit from it. Nobody should try to fan the flames of sectarian violence. I think we should all rein this divide, and rein it in, bring it to a close, try to avoid a conflict that would be detrimental to everybody's security.
By this time, Zarif sounded completely desperate. Iran has been fanning the flames of sectarian violence in Syria since the war started 2 1/2 years ago, and now it's blown back on them. The wealthy Saudis are gearing up for a fight, the bankrupt Iranians can't compete, and Sunni jihadists are striking within Iran itself.
For 30 years, Iran has been funding and fomenting terror throughout the Mideast and, through Hezbollah, around the world. Iran's desperation is well deserved. Even worse, the survival of the regime is at stake, with Iran in a generational Awakening era and the younger generations getting very impatient with old hardline geezers running the country.
The question is how much of a change in policy can be expected from this desperation. The nuclear talks this past weekend collapsed, but there also Iran seemed almost desperate to reach an agreement that would get the sanctions eased.
There's a final word to be said about Hezbollah. The sectarian conflict really spiked up last April when Hezbollah announced that it would be invading Syria to fight on the side of al-Assad. Reports indicated that Hezbollah leadership didn't want to intervene, but was forced to by their masters, the Iranians. (See "27-Sep-13 World View -- How Hezbollah's reluctant foray into Syria changed the Mideast")
Analysts have noticed that, without any particular announcement, Hezbollah withdrew from Syria a couple of months ago. This reflects a change in policy of Hezbollah, but more so of Iran. That could be the first sign that Iran is finally realizing the disaster that it has caused working with Russia. BBC

U.S. Marines land in Philippines after massive Typhoon Haiyan destruction

The city of Tacloban in the Philippines, with a population of over 220,000, almost totally destroyed by Typhoon Haiyan
U.S. Marines landed Monday to bring food, water, generators, blankets, mosquito nets, soap, underwear, and other critical supplies to the survivors of Friday's deadly Typhoon Yolanda (called Haiyan elsewhere in Asia), possibly the most powerful typhoon on record.
The nation is used to typhoons, having had 20 or so already this year, but no one was prepared for Haiyan, with 145 mile per hour winds and storm surges as high as 20 feet. Haiyan killed over 10,000 people and completely destroyed cities in its path. Almost 9.7 million people were affected.
A new typhoon, named Zoraida, will make landfall on Tuesday, with top winds of 34 miles per hour but with plenty of new rain to add to the misery. The U.S. is providing $20 million in aid to the Philippines, and the aircraft carrier USS George Washington, currently in Hong Kong, is making final preparations to deploy to the Philippines and will arrive Wednesday or Thursday. President Benigno Aquino III has declared a "state of calamity." Fox News and Bloomberg

Updated November 9, 2010
Dawud Walid has been the executive director of the Council on American-Islamic Relations' (CAIR) Michigan office for several years. He enjoys one of the highest profiles of any CAIR chapter official, traveling abroad at least twice on State Department-financed goodwill trips and making frequent media appearances to weigh in on political and law enforcement issues.
Many of his claims, however, are based on supposition and often turn out to be baseless. Our profile of Dawud Walid examines that record. Read it here.
