This Navy Combat Veteran Just Publicly Humiliated Obama for Disrespecting the Troops? Good.
President Obama has repeatedly come under fire for his blatant acts of disrespect toward the military, most recently in the form of the infamous “latte salute,” a gesture that offended many, such as former Navy veteran Bob Carey who published a written piece that no doubt left the president feeling sheepish and humiliated.
In the editorial, Carey schools the president in the history of the salute, saying it’s not a casual “hello,” but “the oldest and most distinctive of military traditions, dating back centuries.” He goes on to say that there are “clear rules” for saluting, including the senior, which in this case would be the president, returning “the salute with the same crispness as it was given to him or her,” which is impossible to do with a hot coffee in your hand. Carey also noted that the president saluting military members was a tradition started by Ronald Reagan and has continued ever since.
Ouch.
Carey is absolutely right. The fact that the president, the Commander-in-Chief needs to be schooled on the proper way to respectfully salute members of the military is embarrassing. It should be the desire and passion of the president to represent his country proudly, taking time to learn the proper way to show honor to those whom honor is due.

Hopefully, after the 2016 election, the American people will elect someone who respects the armed forces and will make sure to honor those who sacrifice so much for our freedom.
