Have you ever heard of NNDB? I just stumbled on it the other day. It stands for “Notable Names Data Base”. They track the names and activities of people they have determined to be noteworthy. They also connect them to other notable people who have some kind of connection to them. A sort of 1-50 degrees of separation game. Here’s how they describe it:

What is NNDB? 

NNDB is an intelligence aggregator that tracks the activities of people we have determined to be noteworthy, both living and dead… it mostly exists to document the connections between people, many of which are not always obvious. A person's otherwise inexplicable behavior is often understood by examining the crowd that person has been associating with.

I’m not sure what NNDB’s criteria is for determining who is notable but I would say that the first “black” President of the United States and the First Lady would pass the noteworthy test by any standard.

So I decided to have some fun with it and typed in Barack Obama’s name and sure enough Obama and wife are at the top of the list.

Then I click on Barack Obama’s name and it takes me to his biography.

There is a list of titles to click on like “J.D. Harvard Law School’ so I click on that and get a long list of all the famous people who went to Harvard Law School just like Obama.

In Obama’s bio it says he worked at Baskin Robbins so I click on that and see other “notables’ who worked at Baskin Robbins.

At the bottom of Obama’s bio page they have “risk factors”. For Obama they list cocaine, marijuana and smoking. Remember he said he did a lot of drugs in high school and college.

Then there is this icon you can click on, a little man, to create a “map” starting with Obama that begins to visually connect him to other people who have some kind of connection to him. So I start my “map”.

For some odd reason all the famous people in Obama’s Chicago hood are not on the map, people he had longstanding relationships with; Un-repentant terrorist Bill Ayers, Governor Blagojevich, Tony Rezko. So I click on ‘Harvard Law Review’ and it offers me the option to “isolate my choices”.

Somehow the Illinois State Bar Association pops up with a list of “notable people” who are or were members of the Illinois State Bar just like Obama.

But where’s Obama? Barack and Michelle Obama are strangely absent from this list of famous people with ties to the Illinois State Bar.

By their own admission the Obama’s are two of the most famous lawyers out of Illinois in this century yet they did not make the “notable names” cut! There’s O’Brien and O’Meara but no Obamas. Penny Pritzkers there. Founder of the Hyatt Classic Residence. So I go to the Attorney Registration & Disciplinary Commission for the Illinois Supreme Court, (ARDC), where all Illinois lawyers have to register, to see if she’s on the list and there she is.

Says she’s “voluntarily inactive” and “not authorized to practice law” but her registration is current which means she paid her annual dues.

Scott Turow (Presumed Innocent author) is on the NNDB Illinois Bar Association list and Phyllis Schlafly. (a truly notable & noble woman)

I check out Schlafly on the ARDC website and there she is. “Voluntarily inactive”, admitted to the Illinois Bar in 1979 and still up to date on her dues.

Even though Barack and Michelle did not make the cut on the NNDB famous people list for lawyers who were or are members of the Illinois State Bar, they are on the ARDC list. Barack is listed as “voluntarily retired” and Michelle as “voluntarily inactive”. Neither is currently registered.

Notice how Michelle lists her former name. But Barack says he has never gone by any other name. Well, we know for a fact that Barack went by the name “Barry Soetoro” when he lived in Indonesia and his mother was married to Lolo Soetoro.

And in this June 27, 2012 PBS interview, with one of Obama’s elementary and high school classmates, we learn that Barack Obama was called ‘Barry’from the fifth grade through at least high school and that he told them he was going to return to his country, Indonesia, and be a ruler.

“I went to Punahou School in Honolulu. I was there from kindergarten starting in 1966 through high school, graduating in 1979, along with the president. When I first met Barry, when he showed up I think it was the summer before fifth grade… I can picture him as this slightly -- "chubby" is too strong, but rounded, short little guy, Barry Obama. And he told us that his father was an Indonesian king and that he was a prince, and after he finished school he was going to go back, and he would be a ruler in Indonesia. And I absolutely believed him. My understanding is that Barry — and that’s what we called him, so I’m not meaning to be disrespectful, but I’m going likely to refer to him as Barry for the most part. My understanding is that Barry was on a scholarship....” - PBS.

On May 23, 2013 Time magazine published this photo of a 1979 year book from the high school Barack Obama attended in Hawaii. This was the year Obama graduated. Notice that Barack signed his name as ‘Barry Obama’. (here)

So we have documentation and first hand accounts that Obama went by the name Barry Soetoro in Indonesia and by the name Barry Obama, for at least seven years, in Hawaii.

When a registrant applies to take the Bar Exam they are asked if they have “ever” been known by any other first, middle or last name.

When an applicant fills out the Illinois Law Student Registration Application they are asked if they have “ever” been known by any other first, middle or last name.

The information found on the ARDC website comes straight from the Illinois Registration Application and the Bar Exam Application. Don’t applicants have to attest to the truth of what they put on their application and registration?

Why yes they do. Attestation: To affirm to be correct, true, or genuine: To certify by signature or oath:To put under oath.

Obama did not forget that he was ‘also known as’ Barry Soetoro and Barry Obama. He deliberately lied on his Illinois Bar Exam Application and his Law Student Registration.

Oh, by the way. I tried one last entry in the Notable Names Data base. I typed “Barry Soetoro” in to the NNDB search engine and look what popped up as number one on the list with zero degrees of separation.

Barack Obama. They got that one right. Barack Obama aka Barry Soetoro. I’ll give the Illinois Board of Admissions to the Bar a heads up. - Linda Jordan.
