Deserter? Traitor? Bowe Bergdahl Returns to Active Duty without Court Martial

Described by his former platoon members as ‘at best a deserter and at worst a traitor,’ Bowe Bergdahl is headed back to active duty in the Army. He wandered from his post in the cover of night back in 2009 and went in search of the Taliban. Prior to abandoning his post, Bergdahl left a note seemingly abandoning his American citizenship and denouncing America and the role it was playing in the war. He was with the Taliban for five years after.
Some say he was held captive, others believe he became part of the Taliban group while in supposed captivity. In fact, his platoon members stated that Taliban attacks on them became more strategic after Bergdahl’s disappearance. Although Barack Obama had known since 2010 that Bergdahl was a deserter, he still exchanged five top Taliban leaders, previously detained at Guantanamo Bay for Bergdahl’s release Now, the man whose father praised Allah on Twitter and in the Rose Garden press conference with Obama, who has also had pictures surface of him smiling with Taliban terrorists, is going to once again go into the Army after 6 weeks in outpatient therapy and counseling at a San Antonio, Texas base.
Rather than face a court martial, Bergdahl will work at the Army’s North headquarters at Fort Sam Houston. He will receive a position and duties commensurate with his rank of sergeant, despite the fact that the circumstances surrounding his disappearance are still under investigation.
