Liberal Constitutional Law Professor Jonathan Turley Sounds the Alarm on Barack Obama’s Usurpation of Power; Cites “Cult of Personality” keeping many Democrats Silent – Video 2/12/14
This is sobering. Constitutional Law Professor – and liberal – Jonathan Turley was on with Megyn Kelly last night, and he very bluntly sounded the alarm on the usurpation of power President Obama is carrying out. Turley, who said he supports many of Obama’s policies, said Obama has truly gone beyond what any President has ever done in taking for himself the authority to rewrite laws, or alter laws to suit his own ends.The truth is that this has now gone beyond being a Republican or Democrat issue. It is now about the survival of our system of Government. All Americans should stand up and say that what Barack Obama is doing is wrong! Turley said he believes history will look back on this period and wonder why so many remained so silent as Obama took so much power to himself. He also pointed out part of the problem is that the Supreme Court has taken a very hands-off approach to disputes between the branches. But this is where Chief Justice John Roberts should take some initiative for the sake of the country to say that no President has the power to rewrite laws. It’s about protecting the Constitution and our very system of Government.
You would hope that in the weeks ahead, there will be more honest, principled people on the Left – like Turley – who will step forward and step out of “the cult of personality,” and stand up to Barack Obama’s power grab.
