LAGUNA NIGUEL (CNS) – Orange County sheriff’s investigators
responding to a domestic violence report found 40 weapons, most of them
rifles, grenades and “precursors to explosives” in a Laguna Niguel home
today. The photos in this story come from the OC Sheriff’s Twitter account.
Deputies went to the home at 25 Fairlane Road about 12:40 a.m. to handle a domestic violence report, Orange County sheriff’s Lt. Jeff Hallock said. A 56-year-old man at the home, whose name was not immediately released, was booked on suspicion of domestic violence, Hallock said. While they were at the home, Hallock said, investigators found the guns as well as grenades and military ordnance devices. The ordnance and grenades were later found to be inert, the lieutenant said.
Deputies also found substances and chemicals, which Hallock described as “precursors to explosives.” Investigators were trying to determine what the suspect intended to do with the weapons, if anything, and whether he had broken any laws regulating firearms or explosives.
