Many of us are getting ready to enjoy the long weekend, but very few Americans know that this week also marks something else: National Impeach Obama Week.
In an unofficial campaign that attempts to make the people’s voice heard, Americans are calling for the impeachment of Obama. The Washington Post calls the event the “hardcore of the hardcore” and criticizes the organizers for holding on to this cause.
The protest is a taking place over a nine-day period between August 23rd and August 31st.
Below is a statement from the organization’s website:
The protest theme is to impeach and remove Obama from office for the following reasons. Gerald Ford said in the 1970’s that an “impeachable offense” is whatever the Congress will vote for at a given time. We are not here to bicker about what is impeachable, but to demand that this lawless, subversive and anti-American president be removed from office. We hold, however, that Obama is, in fact, criminal and treasonous. He and his collaborators are a grave threat to our representative constitutional republic.
