Position: PROTECTIVE SECURITY SPECIALIST / DESIGNATED DEFENSIVE MARKSMAN (DDM)
Position Description Summary:
The Protective Security Specialist (PSS) performs protective services
as part of Protective Services Detail (PRS Detail). These PRS Details
support the movement and protection at venues of members of the
Department of State as designated by the supported Regional Security
Office. Protective Security Specialist’s must possess the highest
quality of professionalism, attention to detail and leadership skill
which requires minimum to no supervision. They must be highly motivated
and be able to work extremely well under stress and react effectively
and efficiently to emergency situations. The Designated Defensive
Marksman provides necessary overwatch and support in the execution of
the PRS mission.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
· Perform as long-range defensive marksman
· Provide services as assigned
Skills
· Demonstrated effective communications skills including strong written and oral presentation skills
· Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
· Demonstrated ability to work independently and in a team environment
· Ability and willingness to work in hostile and conflict environment
· Exercise sound judgment in all areas of responsibility
· Ability
to maintain effective communications with individuals and agencies from
diverse cultures and backgrounds including U.S. Government, host nation
government and law enforcement
· Maintain effective professional relationships with employees and outside individuals and agencies
· Ability to understand and successfully handle various operational issues
Minimum Qualifications
· Completed or served at least three (3) years in military, law enforcement, or executive commercial protection
· One
(1) year of experience shall have been obtained in personal protection
security or emergency services assignments with demonstrated skills
· Experience
can be gained in the employ of any national, State/Provincial Local or
commercial entities providing high threat protective services
· Minimum M4 Qualification of 95% (285 out of 300) or better on the DS qualification course of fire
· Completion from an accredited Sniper School
· Graduate
of a U.S. Military Sniper School (and subsequent MOS designation
notated on DD214) or certified Law Enforcement Sniper School
· English language proficiency (minimum Level III)
Upon hiring the DDM will be required to:
· Attend the PSS Training Course
· Obtain and maintain qualification with Glock, M4, Shotgun, M240, M249, M203 and familiarization for the AK 47
