Lib. Alan Grayson vows to be Benghazi hearings’ ‘worst and last nightmare’

The hearings have yet to be scheduled for the select committee investigating the Benghazi attack, but a Democratic congressman is already threatening to derail the process.
U.S. Rep. Alan Grayson, D-Fla., told Al Sharpton on MSNBC’s “Politics Nation” Friday that he is ready to serve on the committee.
“I would be their worst, worst nightmare,” Grayson said. “I’d be their worst and last nightmare.”
Earlier in the day, Grayson told Ari Rabin-Havt on XM radio that he has notified House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., of his willingness to serve on the committee, according to the Huffington Post.
Pelosi hasn’t decided whether Democrats will participate. Rabin-Havt said it would be a “colossal error” if Democrats boycott the investigation.
“I’ve said, if she decides to have Democratic members participate, I’d like to be one of them,” Grayson said in the XM interview.
More than 22,000 people have signed a petition launched by Credo Mobile, which calls itself “America’s only progressive phone company,” asking Pelosi to name Grayson as the sole Democrat to serve on the committee, according to the Huffington Post.
Grayson suggested that Republicans are only pursuing a Benghazi investigation because they have no ideas to campaign on in this fall’s midterm elections.
“They still think that there’s some political gain to be gotten here because they don’t want to talk about unemployment – they have no answers,” he told Rabin-Havt. “They don’t want to talk about health care – they have no answers. They don’t want to talk about education or housing or benefits or pensions or anything that is real in the lives of the American people. They have no answers. So instead, what they do is they try to embarrass the administration over and over again. Instead, what they do is embarrass themselves.”
