Intellectual Property Theft Training Seminar: Boca Raton, FL

The National Attorney General Research and Training Institute (NAGTRI) of the National Association of Attorneys General (NAAG) and the National White Collar Crime Center (NW3C) are conducting a free of cost one-day training session on Intellectual Property Theft for the Florida law enforcement community. The training Conference will be held on May 23, 2014, at the Boca Raton Police Training Center.
Topic DescriptionThe agenda includes a comprehensive overview of intellectual property crimes -- their effect on consumers and businesses and the nexus to other crimes. The agenda also includes sessions on investigating intellectual property crimes, case development, jurisdiction, prosecutorial theories, consumer education efforts, and working collaboratively with other law enforcement offices.
Training TypeNAGTRI provides a number of different training platforms for the benefit of Attorney General offices. The Intellectual Property Theft Training Seminar is designed to provide law enforcement officials an extraordinary opportunity to learn more about intellectual property rights and their effect on consumers, businesses, the economy, and national security. The program will bring together assistant attorneys general, assistant district attorneys, paralegals, investigators, and police officers to learn more about intellectual property laws and investigatory techniques. Funding for this program has been generously provided by a grant from the United States Department of Justice, Bureau of Justice Assistance.

Fee Requirements

NAGTRI and NW3C are offering a free one-day course for assistant attorneys general, legislative staff, policymakers, investigators, and paralegals. Since Intellectual Property enforcement may be handled by different divisions in each office and touches upon several disciplines, Attorney General staff members and local prosecutor staff from consumer protection, antitrust, civil, criminal, cybercrime, policy divisions, or other divisions and units that may have an interest in learning more about intellectual property rights enforcement are encouraged to attend. Registrants may be assistant attorneys general, assistant prosecutors, paralegals, or investigators.
