The Anarchy Alley That Birthed Barack Obama From Washington State to Kenya and On to Chicago

The Anarchy Alley That Birthed Barack Obama From Washington State to Kenya and On to Chicago

In 2008 I missed the fact that Obama’s mother’s parents moved to Washington specifically to enroll Stanley Ann at Mercer Island High School, which reportedly had a reputation of Communist leanings, with some admitted Communist staff. In 2007-2008 I knew a lot about Obama’s background, but didn’t know that. The school had a hang-out area between the classrooms of two radical teachers known as Anarchy Alley. Ann Dunham fit perfectly in Anarchy Alley, so she was the last person any classmate thought would get into the disdained family way. It’s not really surprising though, as Obama Sr. was an unabashed Communist. He thought highly of himself, and had a lot of ideas that meshed with Ann’s. He fit her ‘intellectual vigor’ and worldly persona. Before getting to Stanley Ann’s Dunham’s time at Mercer Island, here’s a part of an earlier post of mine on Obama Sr. (In the video below, you’ll see a lot of what you already know, but it comes with Bill Whittle’s commentary which reinforces the “miracles” of the life of Barack Obama).
quote from Obama Sr.:
“…there is nothing that can stop the government from taxing 100% of income so long as the people get benefits from the government commensurate with their income which is taxed.
I do not see why the government cannot tax those who have more and syphon some of these revenues into savings which can be utilized in investment for future development.”
Barack Obama, Sr.
Obama Sr. believed in the communal ownership of land, and the forced confiscation of privately controlled land. He wanted the nationalization of European and Asian owned enterprises, including hotels…and writing from Kenya for the East Africa Journal, Problems Facing our Socialism, published in July 1965, he wanted these operations handed over to the indigenous black population.” He attacked the economic proposals of pro-Western ideals proposed by African leader Tom Mboya. Obama sided with communist-allied leader Oginga Odinga (perhaps his cousin), who was backed by Soviets.
Presidential candidate, Senator Barack Obama Campaigns for Raila Odinga (2006)
Oginga’s son, Raila had US Senator Barack Obama, as a US Presidential candidate, in Kenya campaigning for him. Raila Odinga lost, but eventually received an appointment as Prime Minister. As the election neared, a copy of an agreement surfaced showing that Raila Odinga promised Sharia law for portions of Kenya in exchange for the Muslim vote. The word was that the Evangelical Kenya Alliance interpreted the document and released it to the public. Others said it was a lie. Today Atlas Shrugs says the “human rights group International Christian Concern (ICC)…has concluded that the pro-Sharia version of the document is not a forgery. Christian Post also reported that the ICC claims there were two documents, one for public consumption without the Sharia agreement, and one that was secret promising Sharia. At one time, Evangelical Kenya Alliance had the document on their website. Today that page no longer appears, but I have portions of it in an article dated April 17, 2008 here.
Raila Odinga, who garnered Obama’s support was educated in East Germany and named his first son Fidel in honor of Fidel Castro.
The Anarchy Alley, so named by students, that so inspired Stanley Ann Dunham was located in a hallway of Mercer Island High School between the two classrooms teaching to think outside the republican democracy box.
After Ann’s graduation, the family moved to Hawaii and thus ensues Barack Sr., and avowed Communist Frank Marshall Davis, Obama’s mentor, thanks to Gramps Dunham. Whittle mentions that Obama was raised by “feral Marxists out in the wild. It’s all he knows.” If you’re paying attention, you know it’s true. Take a look at some of the comments of Stanley Ann’s friends and teacher’s at Mercer Island High:
One of Ann’s teachers mentioned below, Val Foubert, posted the following on his own website. He links to the original Chicago Tribune article, which is no longer online:
But her stop was more than some educational cup of coffee; Obama’s mother spent 8th grade through high school here. Four of those five years were spent on Mercer Island, a 5-mile-long, South American-shaped stretch of Douglas firs and cedars, just across from Seattle in Lake Washington.
Her parents, Stanley and Madelyn Dunham — he was a boisterous, itinerant furniture salesman in downtown Seattle, she worked for a bank and was the quiet yet firm influence at home — moved to Mercer Island in 1956, after one year in a Seattle apartment. The lure was the high school that had just opened and the opportunity it offered for their daughter, who was then 13….
But consistent with the 1950′s, there were undercurrents of turmoil. In 1955, the chairman of the Mercer Island school board, John Stenhouse, testified before the House Un-American Activities Subcommittee that he had been a member of the Communist Party.
TIME Magazine says the Dunham’s “gravitated” toward Mercer Island High because of Stenhouse. If you have a subscription, you can read it here.
At Mercer High School, two teachers — Val Foubert and Jim Wichterman — generated regular parental thunderstorms by teaching their students to challenge societal norms and question all manner of authority. Foubert, who died rcently, taught English. His texts were cutting edge: “Atlas Shrugged,” “The Organization Man,” “The Hidden Persuaders,” “1984″ and the acerbic ritings of H.L. Mencken.
Wichterman taught philosophy. The hallway between the two classes was know as “anarchy alley,” and students pondered the challenging notions of Wichterman’s teachiings, including such philosophers as Sartre and Kierkegaard. He also touched the societal third rail of the 1950′s: He questioned the existence of God. and he didn’t stop there.
“I had them read ‘The Communist Manifesto,’ and the parents went nuts,” said Wichterman, adding that parents also didn’t want any discussions about “anything to do with sex,” religion and theology. the parental protests were known as “mothers’ marches.”
The article says that since many parents were outraged, the students began questioning parental authority, prompting parents to try to get the two teachers fired. The Dunhams were not among the Mothers’ Marches.
They began attending a Unitarian Church, leaving behind their Methodist and Baptist pasts. The church was known as “the little Red church on the hill,” according to the church’s senior pastor.
The article has a few rich details of the Barack Sr., and Ann Dunham romance – including some tidbits the Kenyan patriarch shared with the Dunham family about the marriage: “he didn’t want the Obama blood sullied by a white woman.” Nothing said about Barack Sr. currently already in a married state. It also says Senior finished his work at Harvard, but the truth is he did not. He was forced to leave for womanizing and drinking and never did write his dissertation.
The Seattle Times, April 2008:
Stanley Ann Dunham’s classmates, many of whom had lived on the island their whole lives, viewed Dunham as a novelty.
“She had a really ironic sense of humor, sort of downbeat and she was a great observer,” said Iona Stenhouse, of Seattle, a former classmate. “There was an arched eyebrow, or a smile on her face about the immaturity of us all. I felt at times that Stanley thought we were a bit of a provincial group.”…
Dunham gravitated toward an intellectual clique. According to former classmate Chip Wall, she caught foreign films at Seattle’s only art-house theater, the Ridgemont, and trekked to University District coffee shops like the Encore to talk about jazz, the value of learning from other cultures and the “very dull Eisenhower-ness of our parents.”
Andrew Walden at American Thinker says while Eisenhower was busy with the political geography of Europe not many years after WWII…
…years later Ann Dunham’s ignorance and arrogance found an echo in the book “Dreams From My Father” (p 47). Obama describes himself in Indonesia as:
“…extremely well mannered when compared to other American children. She (Ann Dunham) had taught me to disdain the blend of ignorance and arrogance that too often characterized Americans abroad.”
In fact, if you read on in the American Thinker piece, Ann is quoted telling her second husband “Those are not my people.” Just a general attitude that permeates being Obama.
“We were critiquing America in those days in the same way we are today: The press is dumbed down, education is dumbed down, people don’t know anything about geography or the rest of the world,” said Wall, who later taught at Mercer Island High and is now retired in Seattle…
One respite was found in a wing of Mercer Island High called “anarchy alley.” Jim Wichterman taught a wide-open philosophy course that included Karl Marx. Next door, Val Foubert taught a rigorous dose of literature, including Margaret Mead’s writings on homosexuality.
Those classes prompted what Wichterman, now 80 and retired in Ellensburg, called “mothers’ marches” of parents outraged at the curriculum.
Dunham thrived in the environment, Wichterman said.
“As much as a high-school student can, she’d question anything: What’s so good about democracy? What’s so good about capitalism? What’s wrong with communism? What’s good about communism?” Wichterman said. “She had what I call an inquiring mind.”…
Dunham hadn’t had a boyfriend in high school, according to Maxine Box, her best friend at the time. So Box and others were stunned when Dunham wrote them to say she’d married the University of Hawaii’s first African student, a Kenyan named Barack Obama. She gave birth to Barack Obama Jr. in August 1961.
“We could see Stanley, with her good grades and intelligence, going to college, but not marrying and having a baby right away,” said Box, a retired teacher in Bellevue.
In the Foubert/Chicago Tribune article above, her friend Maxine Box said Ann said didn’t “need to date or marry or have children.” Pregnant out-of-wedlock, she did all three. Too bad such a smart young woman was punished with a baby.
When Ann Dunham Soetoro shuttled her son Barry Soetoro back to Honolulu from Indonesia to live with her parents, Gramps Dunham chose poet Frank Marshall Davis to mentor his grandson. Davis was under FBI investigation for 19 years and when you see his name, the words “pornographer” and “pervert” and sometimes “pedophile” often follow (in fact, the nude photos of Ann Dunham are usually credited to the work of Davis). The FBI confirmed that they had a “file” on Stanley Dunham (Ann’s father) but had destroyed it in 1997.
Barack Obama and Frank Marshall Davis
What Ann couldn’t instill, Gramps and Communist Frank Marshall Davis were there to finish. Obama writes of “Frank” over and over in his book Dreams From My Father – just Frank, no last name. Trevor Loudon at New Zeal Blog was the first to make the connection between Davis and the “Frank” in the book.
Cliff Kincaid, Accuracy in Media (AIM):
In his books, Obama admits attending “socialist conferences” and coming into contact with Marxist literature. But he ridicules the charge of being a “hard-core academic Marxist,” which was made by his colorful and outspoken 2004 U.S. Senate opponent, Republican Alan Keyes.
However, through Frank Marshall Davis, Obama had an admitted relationship with someone who was publicly identified as a member of the Communist Party USA CPUSA). The record shows that Obama was in Hawaii from 1971-1979, where, at some point in time, he developed a close relationship, almost like a son, with Davis, listening to his “poetry” and getting  advice on his career path. But Obama, in his book, Dreams From My Father, refers to him repeatedly as just “Frank.”
The reason is apparent: Davis was a known communist who belonged to a party subservient to the Soviet Union. In fact, the 1951 report of the Commission on Subversive Activities to the Legislature of the Territory of Hawaii identified him as a CPUSA member. What’s more, anti-communist congressional committees, including the House Un-American Activities Committee (HUAC), accused Davis of involvement in several communist-front organizations.
Anarchy Ally also went through right through Chicago. Frank Marshall Davis founded and edited and authored a communist newpaper for the CPUSA, the Chicago Star. Davis worked with Vernon Jarrett, the father-in-law to be of “the other half of Barack’s brain,” Valerie Jarrett, currently Michelle Obama’s best friend and Barack’s closest and top advisor. Vernon Jarrett was involved in a Communist Youth Corps.
Not stopping there, David Axelrod who ran Obama’s 2008 campaign and is credited with winning the election for BO, had a mentor as well – David Canter:
The Canter family’s Soviet/communist roots were deep. David and his family had lived in Moscow just before Chicago. His father, Harry Canter, worked there as an official translator of Lenin’s writings. Harry, who had been secretary of the Boston Communist Party and ran for governor of Massachusetts on the Communist Party ticket, did this as a literal employee of Stalin’s government.
After that service to the Soviets, the Canter crew headed to Chicago, a hot-bed for American communists. They worked with Frank Marshall Davis in writing communist propaganda for the Packinghouse Workers Union, in teaching at the communist Abraham Lincoln School, in marching in Chicago’s May Day parades, and in the pages of the Chicago Star. In fact, when Davis and his comrades sold the Chicago Star to something called the Progressive Publishing Company in September 1948, Harry Canter was one of the small group of board members doing the purchase.
Can you imagine any other American presidential candidate with a background like this, other than someone running under the Communist banner? When Bill Whittle, in the video below, says “it’s a miracle,” he means it.
