Palestinians Welcome Pope Francis To Bethlehem With Anti-Semitism

On Sun­day, when Pope Fran­cis cel­e­brates mass in Bethlehem’s Manger Square, he may be con­fronted with bill­boards depict­ing Jesus being attacked by Israeli soldiers.
This not-so-subtle mod­ern day ver­sion of the dei­cide is trans­par­ent clas­si­cal anti-Semitism in the guise of crit­i­cism of Israel.  The posters are a prod­uct of The Pales­tin­ian Museum, which announced that at the request of the Pales­tin­ian Author­ity (PA)’s Supreme Pres­i­den­tial Com­mit­tee for Church Affairs, it had pre­pared spe­cial bill­boards to dec­o­rate Manger Square which “com­bine recent media pho­tographs of the Pales­tin­ian land­scape and its peo­ple with West­ern baroque paint­ings of bib­li­cal scenes.”
The posters, some of which depict Jesus suf­fer­ing at the hands of Israeli sol­diers, will high­light “the ten­sion between the pop­u­lar image of the Holy Land and Palestine’s ongo­ing his­tory of suf­fer­ing under occu­pa­tion and oppres­sion,”  accord­ing to the Museum.
Pales­tin­ian efforts to present them­selves as the direct descen­dants of Jesus are noth­ing new.  Nor is the manip­u­la­tive and anti-Semitic com­par­i­son of Pales­tin­ian suf­fer­ing at the hands of Jews just as they claim Jews were respon­si­ble for suf­fer­ing and death of Jesus.
The mes­sage care­fully cho­sen by an offi­cial Pales­tin­ian body to pub­licly wel­come Pope Fran­cis demon­strates how deeply inter­min­gled anti-Jewish and anti-Israel atti­tudes are in the Pales­tin­ian pub­lic sphere.
At the weekly meet­ing of Israel’s cab­i­net, Prime Min­is­ter Netanyahu decried Pales­tin­ian incite­ment, cit­ing the ADL Global 100 Sur­vey find­ings about the high level of anti-Semitic atti­tudes in the West Bank and Gaza Strip.
While the PA reg­u­larly com­plains that incite­ment is an Israeli-manufactured excuse, there is no deny­ing that extreme anti-Israel and anti-Semitic mes­sag­ing appears rou­tinely in offi­cial Pales­tin­ian pub­li­ca­tions and institutions.
Ear­lier this week, the May 21^st edi­tion of the Pales­tin­ian Author­ity daily Al-Hayat Al-Jadida, fea­tured an op-ed by one of its fre­quent writ­ers, Yahya Rabah, enti­tled “No One Believes Shy­lock,” fea­tur­ing the denial of the Jew­ish con­nec­tion to the Land of Israel, com­par­isons of Israel to the Nazis and other out­rages.   Rabah writes:

“… Israel lives on a broad and exten­sive sys­tem of laws from the British Man­date, on illu­sion­ary Torah maps, as well as on hal­lu­ci­na­tions from the Baby­lon­ian cap­tiv­ity or from the Roman, the exis­tence of nei­ther has no sin­gle evi­dence. (It also lives) on prac­tices bor­rowed from the Nazis, cur­rently imi­tated by the Israelis against the Pales­tin­ian peo­ple, as clearly estab­lished by a num­ber of intel­lec­tu­als, authors and his­to­ri­ans in Israel these days.”

The issue of Pales­tin­ian incite­ment, and the PA’s chronic fail­ure to pre­pare the Pales­tin­ian pub­lic for peace with Israel was on ongo­ing con­cern cited by Israeli offi­cials dur­ing the recent cycle of US-brokered peace nego­ti­a­tions.
And with these egre­gious exam­ples appear­ing almost-daily, it is cer­tain to con­tinue to alarm all those com­mit­ted to true Israeli-Palestinian reconciliation.

Obamacare Architect Introduces Eugenics: "Genetic Lottery Winners" Must Pay

RUSH:  Okay, folks, there are other aspects of this that I want to get to that have nothing to do with what Obama did yesterday.  Jonathan Gruber, MIT, who was an architect of Obamacare, was on NBC with F. Chuck Todd.  I'm just teasing this.  Do you remember Dick Gephardt talking about the winners of life's lottery?  In Gephardt's world, the winners of life's lottery were the rich.  If you win a lottery, you're what?  You're lucky and nothing more.  You're just plain lucky and that's not fair.  And Gephardt portrayed the wealthy as the winners of life's lottery, basically saying that is the essence of unfairness, just getting rich by luck, as his primary justification for confiscating income from them via ever increasing taxes. 
Well, Mr. Gruber, the architect, it is said, of Obamacare, the professor at MIT, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, has now introduced eugenics into this entire health care debate by suggesting that there is a lucky gene pool.  How did he phrase it?  The winner of life's gene pool lottery or some such thing.  So what he's getting at is that the healthy are lucky. The healthy, who don't have to spend as much on health care, the lucky, who are only lucky because of their genetics, we have to tax them more. We have to get more from them. The healthy have to pay the freight for everybody who is unlucky, who has bad genes, and because of that they get sick more often.  This is Margaret Sanger territory we're getting back to here.  This guy is introducing eugenics.  And of course he is special.  He himself is an elitist, genetically, and therefore will be exempt from whatever plans he has for the winners of life's genetic lottery.  I mean, wait 'til you hear this.

RUSH:  If you're healthy, if you don't get sick much, if you don't go to the doctor much or use your health insurance much, you are a genetic lottery winner.  It has nothing to do with the way you live, nothing to do with doing the right things.  It's just sheer luck and you are gonna pay for that.

RUSH:  Jonathan Gruber, he's been in the news this week.  Gruber's one of the guys, one of the architects of Obama.  He's been in the news this week saying that you cannot reinstitute these plans that were canceled.  You can't do it.  You got the law over here, Obamacare, and the plans canceled are illegal.  You can't do it.  And if you try, the premium's are gonna skyrocket, been saying it all week, and he was right about that.
But he's how introduced eugenics!  You healthy people are life's genetic lottery winners.  Remember Dick Gephardt way back in the nineties, as a means of justifying raising taxes on the rich, called them winners of life's lottery.  Meaning they were rich by no action they took, it was just sheer luck.  And in such it wasn't fair. It wasn't fair they're rich. Not fair they got lucky and you didn't.  And that was used to justify massive tax increases on them.
Dick Gephardt even had this imaginary friend that he would tell us about.  (Gephardt impression) "I have this friend, and this friend tells me that if you raise my taxes, I'll really get rich, because when you raise my taxes, everybody will have more."  We never found the invisible friend.  I'm not making it up, Rachel.  That's what Gephardt said.  Now we got an MIT architect of Obamacare saying that you healthy people are just genetic lottery winners, and as such you have to pay higher premiums to cover the health care costs for the unlucky genetic pool.

RUSH: Now, Mr. Snerdley is very worried that I'm going to be lied about, misrepresented, impugned, and all of that by just bringing up the subject.  He wants me to say three or four times to all you liberals, 'cause it involves eugenics and genetics.  He wants me to tell you none of this have I said, none of this have I ever said.  I'm not Margaret Sanger.  This genetic lottery crap.  My reaction is if there are genetic lottery winners then why the hell are we banning trans fats?  If there are genetic lottery winners, then what is Michelle Obama doing trying to mess around with school lunch menus?

If your good health is strictly due to your gene pool and the good luck that you have in yours, then what the hell does all the rest of this matter?  But it is far more grave, far graver than that.  This is really despicable stuff, because by bringing this into it, what Mr. Gruber is bringing into it is not just genetics, but eugenics.  And do you know what eugenics is?  You know what eugenics is?  Try Margaret Sanger, the belief that certain gene pools are superior to others, by design, and that in order to have a properly functioning society, we've got to get rid of the inferior gene pools, the inferior people.  People genetically inferior: stupid, weak, sick, get rid of 'em.  That's what Planned Parenthood was all about when it was founded, and it was racial.  It's amazing how that's transformed itself, but it has nevertheless.  I do not subscribe to it, and I want to get that out of the way up first.
But this happened yesterday on MSNBC, the Daily Rundown with F. Chuck Todd, interviewing one of the architects of Obamacare, MIT Economics Professor Jonathan Gruber.  During a discussion about Obamacare and the people whose policies are being canceled because of it, F. Chuck said, "You say, Mr. Gruber, that the perceived problems with health care and health care reform, are actually essential mechanisms built into the law to make it work and that the law was designed to force some policies to be canceled.  This idea of getting these policy cancellations fixed for the millions of people being affected, you say that going down this road could potentially unravel the law."
GRUBER:  It's 12 million people, about a third of which will end up paying more under this law, and that, as you said in the introduction, is sort of the idea. We currently have a highly discriminatory system where if you're sick, if you've been sick, if you're gonna get sick, you cannot get health insurance.  The only way to end that discriminatory system is to bring everyone into the system and pay one fair price.  That means that the genetic winners, the lottery winners who've been paying an artificially low price because of this discrimination now will have to pay more. And that, by my estimate, is about four million people.  In return, we'll have a fixed system where over 30 million people will now for the first time be able to access fairly priced and guaranteed health insurance.
RUSH:  Now, folks, the problem here is the root thinking that goes into something like this.  Let me parse this, if I may.  And, by the way, he's right when he says that your plan that you lost, that the president promised you you could keep, Obamacare was designed to force those policies to be canceled.  He's right about that.  He wrote the law.  He's one of the architects.  That's why this lie was so bad, because Obamacare was designed for you to lose your policy.  It was designed for that to happen.  And he's right about that.  And now, reinstating those policies could potentially unravel the law because you've got things in conflict.  Obamacare here, reinstating policies that are illegal but that the Regime says they're not gonna enforce for a year, the insurance companies are gonna have to -- it's just an absolute mess.  The thing is unraveling, okay?
But that's not his big point.  "As you said in the introduction, F. Chuck, we have a highly discriminatory system where, if you're sick, if you've been sick, if you're gonna get sick, you can't get health insurance."  Now, that I have some objection to.  That simply can't be true.  If that were true in a blanket way, most Americans wouldn't have health insurance, and most Americans do.  If you've been sick, if you're gonna get sick, you can't get insurance, that's not true.  All kinds of people who haven't been sick yet have insurance.  And all kinds of people who have been sick have insurance.  It's wrong from the get-go, but it's crucial understanding the way these people think.
What he's trying to say here is that the people who need health care can't get it because our system sucks and our system sucks because it discriminates against the weak. It discriminates against the unlucky, and it discriminates against the poor, and it discriminates against everybody, our system is so bad.  Our system is so unfair, our system is so mean that the people who really need to get well don't.  And that's BS, folks.  This country heals people all the time.  This is why this whole thing, people like this in charge of the health care system, just offend me.  The assumptions that they make going in, and the assumption starts with this country is inferior, this country is biased, it's racist, it's extremist, it's bigoted, it's discriminatory.  This is not true!
Now, in the case of preexisting conditions, yeah, but that is not even a scant minority of the population.  There are plenty of people who've been sick who have insurance, just like there are plenty of people who've had car accidents who have automobile insurance.  This the best health care system in the world, that these people are now dismantling.  We have the finest doctors, the finest hospitals, some of the greatest research, our pharmaceutical industry, unparalleled in the world.  You can't have all of that in the kind of world or country this guy is attempting to portray here.
But that's just the starting point.  Okay, so his belief is that our whole country is unjust and unfair, and our health care system is, too.  And the people who really need the health care can't get it.  The only people who can get it are the people who don't need it, genetic lottery winners, the people who never get sick.  They're the ones, because the insurance companies suck, and the insurance companies are unfair, and they only insure the people who they know will never get sick.  And that's BS as well.  I'm sorry if you're the 25-year-old woman threatened by my yelling.  This stuff just burns me.
BREAK TRANSCRIPT
RUSH: Okay, here's Jonathan Gruber and it's just not fair.  The only people that have health care in America are the people that don't need it.  Isn't it just typical, the only people that have money in the world are the people that don't need it.  The only people that get freebies are the people that can pay for it.  The only people that need health care can't get it because -- it's a crock.  It's just more of this never ending belief in the basic fallibility and inferiority of this country.  It just isn't true that we have a discriminatory health system where if you're sick, if you've been sick, if you're gonna get sick, you can't get health insurance.  It's just not true.  You know it as well as I know it.
But that's the starting point.  The starting point is America's intrinsically discriminatory. It's unfair and it mistreats the poor. It mistreats minorities and women and children are hardest hit and all the cliches.  Okay.  So he then said to F. Chuck Todd, "The only way to end that discriminatory system is to bring everybody into the system and pay one fair price."  Socialism.  Yes.  It's no different than nobody should make a dime more than anybody else, and nobody should have to pay any more than anybody else for a house. Nobody should have to pay anything more for a car than anybody else pays. It's just not fair, otherwise.
Why should everybody's health care cost the same?  Why doesn't everybody's car cost the same?  Why everybody's house cost the same?  Why doesn't everybody's hotel room cost the same?  Why aren't movie tickets the same from theater to theater, town to town?  Why aren't salaries identical?  What the hell is it about health care that it has to be the same for everybody.  What is it about health care that these people believe is innately discriminatory to the poor and the sick.
So he says the only way to end this discrimination is to bring everybody into the system and pay one fair price.  That means that the genetic winners, the lottery winners who've been paying an artificially low price because of this discrimination now will have to pay more.  So what he's saying is you people who are healthy, it's not because of anything you've done. It's not because you're drinking carrot juice and eating this, not eating that. It's not because you're jogging. It's not because you're getting exercise. It's not because you're doing what all the food and health Nazis say.  It's not any of your business.  You just got lucky in the gene pool.  That's it.  No control, no participation in the way your life has turned out at all.  You are just a walking robot.  And you either had rich parents or healthy parents or white parents or what have you, but it just isn't fair.
So we've gotta change this basic unfairness. It's not fair that some people don't get sick. It's not fair that some people don't get as sick as other people. It's not fair that some people don't get really sick.  And it's really not fair that the people that don't get sick don't pay much for their insurance.  It's really unfair that the people that don't get sick don't pay much for their health care.
Why should they?  Why should somebody who never goes to the doctor pay out the nose for it?  What is intrinsically unfair about that?  You know, to a lot of people, health care's a choice.  To a lot of people, going to the doctor is the last thing in the world they want to do.  To some people, spending money on their health is something they'd rather not do.  They rather have the flat screen.  They rather go out and buy the souped-up car.  Why is that bad?  We're so out of control on all of this, all these assumptions are being made.
But I still haven't gotten to the meat and potatoes of this.  The meat and potatoes, the genetic winners, the lottery winners who've been paying an artificially low price because of this discrimination, will now have to pay more.  So you're healthy, you've done everything the so-called social architects tell you you have to do. All of the healthy Nazis and the food Nazis, they've told you everything to do when you're healthy.  You gotta pay a price.  Just like they told you you better go out, you better buy a car that gets 40 miles to the gallon to save the planet.  So you do.  Then they realize they're coming up short on fuel taxes, so they raise your tax, because you're doing something responsible.  It isn't right, it isn't fair, that you're not paying more when you have the ability to.
So, "We're gonna have a fixed system where over 30 million people will now for the first time be able to access fairly priced and guaranteed health insurance."  No, we're not.  This cannot work.  Forced behavior, socialized anything, doesn't work.  Ask Stalin, ask Andropov, ask Brezhnev, ask Castro, ask Mao.  Well, it worked for them.  But ask the people that live in their countries if it works?  Go ask your average Cuban if it works.  Go find your average Chinese in Shanghai, ask him if it's working.  Go find somebody who lived in East Germany in the sixties and seventies and ask 'em if it worked.  It doesn't work.
However, here's the thing.  This business of winning the genetic lottery I think is a modern phrase for the eugenic belief that some people are inherently genetically inferior and weak.  You can't believe otherwise.  If you're gonna start talking about genetic lottery winners, then you gotta go all the way with this.  If you're gonna start, as Mr. Gruber is here, not me, this is not me, I don't think this way.  This stuff never crosses my mind.  I don't think of genetic lottery winners.  And I don't think of the winners of life's lottery in terms of wealth and income.  I don't think that way.
This is not me.  This is Jonathan Gruber at MIT.  When you start talking about winning the genetic lottery, you are talking about a belief in eugenics.  And the belief in eugenics is that some people and maybe some races -- ask Hitler -- some people and some races are inherently genetically inferior and weak.  That's what he's saying here.  Genetic lottery winners, there are some genetic lottery losers.  What does that make them?  What is a genetic lottery loser?  A victim, somebody who's weak, somebody who is always sick.  And, by the same token, if you're going to believe in genetic lottery winners and losers, then the winners are who?  Well, they're the genetically superior.
You know, the Nazis thought that genetic lottery losers should be murdered.  Adolf Hitler believed that Jews were genetic lottery losers.  And what did he do about it?  Now, Obama doesn't think that.  Apparently Obama and Mr. Gruber believe that genetic lottery losers should be compensated for their lousy genes.  And so Obamacare has come along to protect the victims, the losers of the genetic lottery.  The losers of genetic lottery are victims and they're mistreated by the evil insurance companies. They're not getting insurance, they don't get covered, the emergency room kicks them out, what have you.
But either way, it is a view of the world that starts with an assessment by the government of who is and who isn't elite, is it not?  You start talking about lottery winners and genetics, you're talking about the government assessing who is and who isn't genetically inferior.  And if this government assesses you to be genetically inferior, they want you to be compensated.  This is why you can't escape all these mindless racial questions on the application form at HealthCare.gov.  They're trying to identify who among us are inferior and in need of their assistance.
Now, I think that Mr. Gruber believes that he's part of the genetic aristocracy, and I think Obama thinks that he is part of the genetic aristocracy, 'cause they're the smartest in the room.  They believe in a genetic aristocracy just like they believe in an economic aristocracy.  And they're in it.  Oprah thinks that she's in it.  So does this idiot, Toure.  I'm sure he thinks he's in the genetic aristocracy.  All of these libs think they're smarter than anybody. These faculty lounge theorists, they sit around and they talk about how stupid everybody else is and how if they had control, how they'd finally make everything work right.  And we're seeing how the genetic aristocracy makes things work, because we're being ruled by the genetic aristocracy.  We're being governed by an elite aristocracy of the mind, Obama, et al, and his lib buddies.
So Obama and Gruber and all their friends, their status is life largely due to being born into the acceptable physical and social class.  And that is affirmed by what university they get into.  So that makes them part of the aristocracy.  And then, by right of being in that class, in that elite aristocracy, they get to punish other lottery winners on behalf of the genetically inferior.  They are the genetic aristocracy.  They're the winners of the genetic lottery.  They get to sit here and determine who the losers are, and they tell others who are also okay, but not really qualified to be in the aristocracy, "You're gonna pay through the nose because those people are genetically inferior.  And we're gonna call that fairness.  And we're gonna call that nondiscrimination.  And we're gonna call that fixing this country."
So if people with poor health are genetic losers -- and I didn't bring any of this up.  I'm simply bouncing off Mr. Gruber at MIT talking about genetic lottery winners who are not paying enough for their health care.  If people with poor health are genetic losers, then the professor's losers in the good-genes race are minorities whose health indices, the indexes, according to the Centers for Disease Control, are lower than whites in almost every category, including life expectancy.  And you know I'm right.  They tell you it's their propensity for this disease, that disease, shorter life expectancy, the genetically inferior happen to be minorities.  It fits right in with the way these people view the world.  And this then justifies their treatment of them as victims.
But, you see, also, if there are genetic lottery winners, then it doesn't matter.  You can avoid all the trans fat in the world.  You could avoid the 32-ounce soft drinks. You can go out and eat the healthiest garbage, and you're still gonna be genetically inferior because you have bad genes, you lost the lottery.  Your parents, your grandparents, your ancestors, they screwed you. You had no say in it.  That's the kind of thinking that's gone into this.  I saw that, F. Chuck and the genetic lottery winners, and now all of this has surfaced in a way that has enabled me to explain to you the thinking behind these people and the way they're producing and ordering their whole health care plan.

Obama’s Racial Eugenics Award?

Sanger wins Presidential Medal of Freedom.

Feminist icon Gloria Steinem has received America’s highest honor. President Obama bestowed upon Steinem the Presidential Medal of Freedom. In so doing, he honored the work of not only Steinem but Margaret Sanger, liberalism’s iconic racial eugenicist. Celebrating her award at the National Press Club, Steinem said she hoped Obama’s action would be “honoring the work of Margaret Sanger.”
It indeed has done just that.
Margaret Sanger longed for a more enlightened time when birth control would be (as she put it) “part of the regular welfare service of the government.” In this, she was inspired by Stalin’s Soviet Union — literally. In 1934, she undertook a fact-finding pilgrimage to Moscow, where she, like many American progressives, believed the Bolshevik government might well have discovered the Brave New World. Many American progressives — public education father John Dewey among them — thought the Soviets were perhaps merely a few steps ahead of us. We needed to look there. We needed to go there.
Upon her return, Sanger reported her findings in the June 1935 edition of her organization’s flagship publication, Birth Control Review. In an article titled, “Birth Control in Russia,” Sanger noted, “Theoretically, there are no obstacles to birth control in Russia. It is accepted… on the grounds of health and human right.” She said of America: “[W]e could well take example from Russia, where there are no legal restrictions, no religious condemnation, and where birth control instruction is part of the regular welfare service of the government.”
Sanger could not have known it, but she was speaking of Barack Obama’s America, where birth control is being thrust upon us as a basic “human right” and form of “health care” with no obstacles in its way. In fact, it’s even easier than Sanger could have imagined: Not only do contemporary progressives want no obstacles, but Obama wants all Americans to forcibly pay for birth control. He is even forcing the religious to do so via his HHS mandate. He and his progressive cohorts are rolling right over any “legal restrictions” or “religious condemnation.” If you as a religious believer disagree, they will see you in court. You will be penalized and demonized.
Under Obama, we have arrived at Sanger’s new world, where birth control is a regular service of the federal government.
And thus, Gloria Steinem honoring Margaret Sanger with Obama’s Presidential Medal of Freedom is so perfectly fitting. It really is. In fact, if Obama thought about all this more deeply, perhaps he’d consider a posthumous Presidential Medal of Freedom for Margaret Sanger. She was way ahead of her time. A veritable progressive prophetess.

But there’s something even more significant and ironic at work here.
Margaret Sanger not only championed Bolshevik birth control services, she also championed racial eugenics. The Planned Parenthood matron wanted to advance what she called “racial health” and “race improvement” in America. She lamented America’s “race of degenerates.” This meant purging the landscape of its “human weeds” and “the dead weight of human waste.” This included the “feeble-minded,” the “imbeciles,” the “morons,” and the “idiots,” but it also included a “Negro Project” that Margaret had in mind for another group of Americans.
The Negro Project was close to Sanger’s heart, as shown by a remarkable December 10, 1939 letter she wrote to Dr. Clarence Gamble of Milton, Massachusetts. (The letter is today held in the Sanger archives at Smith College. I have a photocopy.) The Planned Parenthood foundress alerted the good doctor: “We do not want word to go out that we want to exterminate the Negro population.”
That eye-opening assertion has been disputed and defended by liberals. And, to be fair, what Sanger meant isn’t entirely clear, though I personally lean to a decidedly negative interpretation. But one group with no ambivalence about Sanger’s intentions with black Americans was the KKK.
Add the Klan to the list of those deeply grateful for Sanger’s work. They were so grateful that the boys in the white hoods invited the progressive heroine to one of their celebrations. They asked her to speak at one of their rallies. Sanger accepted. She addressed her brethren at a KKK rally in Silver Lake, New Jersey, in 1926.
What do Barack Obama and Gloria Steinem think of that? Like most leftists, either they’re totally ignorant of the fact or they look the other way as they extol the magnificence of Sanger’s other “achievements” that outweigh the more sinister ones in their ever-evolving progressive calculus.
Among Sanger’s other achievements is another bitter pill: Her Planned Parenthood is America’s largest abortion provider, and one of the greatest killers of black Americans. No other organization comes close. Planned Parenthood’s bloodletting of unborn black babies has been in the countless millions.
And yet, Obama and Steinem and liberals/progressives insist we fund that, too, with our tax dollars. Those of us who beg to differ are accused of favoring a “war on women.”
How sadly surreal that Gloria Steinem, who hopes her Presidential Medal of Freedom honors Margaret Sanger, has been so honored by Barack Obama, America’s first black president. It almost seems a cruel joke. But, alas, so does progressive liberalism.
It reminds me of the women at Planned Parenthood bestowing their first annual Margaret Sanger Award on no less than Martin Luther King, Jr.
No, that’s not a joke. King was the first in a long line of Sanger Award recipients. Other recent winners have included Hillary Clinton, who glowed as she expressed her “awe” of Sanger as she received the crown.
The whole thing smacks of a plot out of The Screwtape Letters, cooked up by the Evil One and his accomplices down under. Come to think of it, that might be the only place where they’re really laughing.

The good news is that this isn’t Socialism. It just might be National Socialism.

Like ObamaCare, Obama’s massive budget proposal has all sorts of horrible things in it, but one of them is more horrible than the rest.
Under Global Health Activities, there’s an extra-special appropriation.

“That of the funds appropriated under title III of this Act, not less than $575,000,000 should be made available for family planning/reproductive health, including in areas where population growth threatens biodiversity or endangered species.”

It’s hard to misread this as anything except promoting birth control/abortion of humans to protect endangered species. And species that aren’t even endangered.
This comes after Obama’s Interior Secretary caught flak for telling Eskimos who were dying because of a lack of a road that “I’ve listened to your stories, now I have to listen to the animals.”

According to local Aleutian elders, 19 people have died since 1980 as a result of the impossible-to-navigate weather conditions during emergency evacuations.
“She stood up in the gymnasium and told those kids, ‘I’ve listened to your stories, now I have to listen to the animals,” Democratic state Rep. Bob Herron told a local television station. “You could have heard a pin drop in that gymnasium.”

Maybe the United States government should start representing human beings instead of sacrificing human life for the sake of the radical environmental agenda.

Viruses are reportedly live in vaccines and could be part of a eugenics movement. In the book Ecoscience: Population, Resources, Environment the manipulation from the utilization of viruses becomes real. Everything in the book seems to have already been set forth or is well on its way. The spread of viruses has had a large effect on the population.
In 1977, Ecoscience was written by John P. Holdren. Holdren is President Obama’s Science Advisor. His goal was to have totalitarian population control measures set forth. He was a very active advocate on the practice of abortions, the use of implants to prevent pregnancies, and sterilization by poisoning the food and water supply, and the spread of viruses. The sole purpose of the book was to enforce global population control limited to 1 billion people.
Section four, chapter ten in the book is about understanding the environmental disruption by directing assaults on the well-being of humans. This section discusses how to use the environment to control the populations. This includes air, water, and noise pollution, the use of pesticides and trace metals, fluorides, chemical mutagens, and ionizing radiation.
Section five of the book discusses how changing Americas Institutions will get people out of the “crossroads” of humanity by following population policies. This can be seen happening now through Planned Parenthood where abortion is convincing and adoption is not usually discussed. Science and Technology have played a large role in approaching new ways to affect the human well-being. The productions of medicine that carry chemicals to manipulate the brain functioning are being distributed every day. Part of the eugenics movement is through the distribution of disorder medications, cancer medications, and immunizations and vaccines carrying live viruses.
This section also explains how the government may use the legal system for economic and political change and to utilize the military in population control. This would explain the chemtrails that spray freeze-dried bacteria and viruses into the atmosphere. One of most effective ways of following through with eugenics was the process of manipulating forced medications that carry viruses. Flu shots are becoming a mandatory policy in many school districts. If a child does not have their flu vaccinations, then they are not permitted to attend school. This goes with immunizations as well. Although it is a right to decide if a child is immunized, the legal system avoids the option to waiver.
The media has had a huge part in encouraging the eugenics movement hyping up a virus pandemic. This ensures that people will flock to their nearest vaccine distributor. Little do people know, these vaccines are full of heavy metals, formaldehyde, polysorbates 80 sterilizer, and viral diseases. The H1N1 Pandemic was called to be the highest warning level that could cause a worldwide human infection. “Scientists” told people it was the deadliest pandemic they had seen in centuries, it was spreading rapidly, and it has the capability of mutating into something more dangerous that could kill countless people. The pandemic had encouraged many to get their vaccines containing the live H1N1 virus resulting in many deaths and severe illnesses. British and French media said that H1N1 was hyped by medical researchers creating more money for research grants and for drug companies. The Medical Research council Biostatistics Unit in the U.K. also found the pandemic was exaggerated to help boost the need for big pharmaceutical companies.

the veterans crisis points staight at obama

NO sense of urgency regarding our vets

Before he had to rush off to pack for yesterdays round of photo-op nonsense, and coming almost a month after the story broke, Barack HUSSEIN Obama spoke on Wednesday for 45 minutes about the VA scandal that is casting yet another shadow of incompetency over his presidency. Holding NO one responsible for this most grievous of sins against our veterans, Obama put on his best 'sad face' for the cameras while claiming he will work with VA Secretary Eric Shinseki to address allegations that VA officials falsifying wait-time records for veterans seeking services.

Continuing to defend Shinseki's handling of the allegations to date, Obama said he would wait for the results of several reviews before deciding Shinseki's fate...the classic Obama do NOTHING stance.

Apparently the treatment of our veterans constitutes NO sense of urgency for this president as the 'blame everyone but himself' game revs up to full speed. Even saying, "When I heard allegations of misconduct - any misconduct, whether it's allegations of VA staff covering up long wait times or cooking the books - I will not stand for it, not as commander in chief, but also not as an American," Obama is just saying what he was told to say and he means NOT a word of it.

"...I will NOT stand for it..." coming from the mouth of this man are hypocritical words as they do NOTHING to quell this rightfully growing controversy with its demand for answers. In fact, when NO definitive plan of action to hold those responsible is laid out with those words, those words just become more useless bloviations by the man who is anything but an honorable Commander-in-Chief. But then again how does one take action against one's self for Barack HUSSEIN Obama new damn well from before he was sworn in that there were problems at the VA, and in the almost six years since then has done NOTHING to remedy the ever-expanding situation...NO...the ever-expanding crisis is a better choice of words.

A crisis that has been in the making ever since Barack HUSSEIN Obama and Eric Shinseki took over the VA system, yet neither will take responsibility for its problems or or their lack of action. Together they're passing the buck...the hallmark of this administration...as the backlog they've known about since 2008 has increased ten-fold on their watch, and now veterans...our brave warriors...are dying while languishing for months on secret lists. America does NOT need another yet another investigation...whose conclusions we know before it even begins...to tell us that VA is failing in properly treating our veterans. We need answers and solutions...we need those responsible put in the hot seat and called to task...and we need assurances that all will be made right for those who have put their lives on the line to keep us safe and free at home.

But from this president...from this administration...I'm NOT holding my breath for that as Barack HUSSEIN Obama has now made even the treatment our veterans receive...or should I say lack of treatment...into a political dog and pony show of the first degree. Festering below the surface for weeks now as the VA scrambles to cover-up the inexcusable, Obama has the unmitigated gall to publicly say on national television that NO conclusions could or would be drawn until investigations were complete. Shades of Benghazi and the IRS and NSA scandals all rolled into one as he just laid the ground floor for this, yet another investigation, to drag on...possibly for years...while our veterans continue to die.

Are you angry yet folks as this is just the beginning of a nightmare ride with the markings of 'divert and deflect' written all over it for as our ailing military heroes are dying their Commander-in-Chief still will NOT call anyone to task for fear all roads will lead back to him.

“If these allegations prove to be true it is dishonorable, it is disgraceful, and I will not tolerate it, period,” Obama's Wednesday bloviations continued on. But note the word 'if'...as in "if these allegations prove to be true," but how can they NOT be true as story after story is surfacing as more and more spouses of vets who died waiting for treatment are telling their stories on national TV...as emails and documents have already come to light exposing the horror that this man and his administration knowingly turned a blind eye to.

"We have to let the investigators do their job and get to the bottom of what happened. Our veterans deserve to know the facts. Their families deserve to know the facts. Once we know the facts, I assure you if there is misconduct, it will be punished," Obama also said while he fights for more time to concoct a cover-up story to save his own skin. And sadly we know the media will give him that time for they too knew all the wrongdoings going on yet also remained silent for fear of further tarnishing their own creation...their self-anointed supposed 'black savior of us all.'

And so as the nightmare that began in one VA hospital in Phoenix, Arizona, now spreads to 26 VA facilities across this country...with more sure to come...as the practice and documenting of false reporting...of out-and-out lying...seems to bear out a truth that needed to be kept hidden...that records have been manipulated solely for appearance sake as they tie directly into earning performance bonuses for hospital administrators and staff...as the almighty dollar takes precedence over the lives of our vets.

And Obama knowing about these problems since the days of his transition team means the question of why has this been overlooked for so long has but one answer...an answer some of us have NOT been afraid to say...and that is that Barack HUSSEIN Obama cares NOTHING for our veterans, our troops, or our military in general...for there is NO sense of urgency coming from him in righting this grievous wrong. And now just like he did immediately after Benghazi, Barack HUSSEIN Obama jets off yet again for fundraisers and photo-ops leaving behind 100 dead veterans and a VA system fundamentally broken to its core in his wake.

Yet another indelible stain on his record...yet another reason for his removal from office...yet another circling of the wagons around the most miserable excuse of a president our nation has ever known... and all as our veterans continue to die.

What does Obamacare mean for young people?

As this article is being written, the U.S. is currently experiencing a government shutdown. What happened? The official line is that the House and the Senate couldn’t agree on a bill to fund the government, and time has run out. Depending on who you ask, or what you read, this all boiled down to the fight over the Affordable Care Act (ACA), which has come to be known as Obamacare.
Of course, in looking closer at this situation, we know that other elements were at play. For example demands like defunding Planned Parenthood, expanding drilling on federal lands, and other “compromises” that the GOP wanted passed in order to implement the Affordable Care Act. Needless to say, a compromise was not reached and we are now in a government shutdown – the first one in 17 years. This means a whole new generation of youth are getting a first hand experience of our government at work.
Funny thing is, the Affordable Care Act is still happening. It began October 1. The ACA bill is long and it can be very daunting to read and understand how it will affect certain parts of the population, or the working people as a whole. In this technological age, most young people want the facts, in bullet point form if you please, so that we know what exactly we can expect. So, how will the ACA affect young people? Here are some key points and ways in looking at it:
At this point in time, there are about 47 million people in the U.S. without health insurance. This includes a good amount of young people. The ACA won’t greatly affect those that already have coverage through employers or government sponsored health care such as Medicaid or Medicare. So that leaves about 15 percent of the population not covered. With the ACA, they will be able to find affordable coverage. Some of the highlights of that and other changes to existing health coverage would be as follows:

• Young people would be able to stay on their parents insurance until the age of 26. Before, most insurers cut off the coverage at 21. Because of this provision, more than three million young people have gained coverage since approved. This works well in an economy when many young people are finding it hard to land full-time jobs that would give them the health coverage needed right out of college, high school, or post-graduate school.
• Everyone is entitled to free preventative care. This works well for young women seeking birth control and other contraceptives. They do not have to be charged extra for seeking birth control. Not to mention the population as a whole doesn’t have to pay extra for important health screenings such as for diabetes and HIV.
• With the health exchange you can see what you’re in for and you may even be eligible for a government discount. The websites provide a calculation of how much you will be paying based on your income. The lower your income the higher the tax credit you may be entitled to will be.
• Young women can’t be charged more than men. There’s a little (re: sexist) thing that insurance companies in some states do, where women are charged more than men for individual coverage. This practice will now be outlawed beginning in the new year.
• You cannot be charged for pre-existing conditions. This was another thing insurance companies were doing. Either they would reject people because of pre-existing health conditions or they would charge them more for it. Starting in the new year this will be illegal as well.
• In some states, if you make less that $16,000 a year, you may be eligible for Medicaid. This can come in handy for many young people who are having to settle for part-time work or lower wages in the current economy.

Overall, many of these benefits and changes don’t just apply to young people. Then again, young people aren’t some separate and apart species from the rest of the human race. What’s going on in government doesn’t just affect our parents or older loved ones, or older people in general. And even if it doesn’t affect us directly, it affects many people we know.

Debt, climate change, immigration top student agenda

WASHINGTON — The recent gathering of 328 college and graduate students from across the nation here at the 45th annual “Grassroots Legislative Conference,” hosted by the United States Student Association (USSA), which has strong ties with the labor movement, could be called nothing short of a “tour de force” in youth activism. “LegCon” is designed to train students in congressional lobbying. Determined, organized, thoughtful, and unafraid, the students present at this year’s LegCon were very clear about a guiding principle: students must lead their own organization and strategize together if the fight for accessible higher education in this country is to be won.
LegCon was intentionally held at Washington Court Hotel, where the employees are represented by UNITE HERE service workers union. Workshop titles included “Union 101,” “Beyond Yes Means Yes: Preventing Sexual Assault on Campus,” and “Fighting the Attack on the Youth Vote!”
A quality college education should be a right for all, but for millions of students college is still either just a dream or a sentence to a lifetime of debt that never disappears, even if the student dies. National student debt has topped $1.2 trillion, which is greater than all national credit card and housing debt combined. There are college campuses in Miami, Milwaukee, and the Bronx where over 40 percent of the student population is homeless, and hundreds of college-campus food pantries are cropping up, according to Associate Professor Sara Goldrick-Rab of Univ. of Wisconsin-Madison.
Data from the Department of Education website says that only nine percent of the lowest quartile income students who enter college complete their degrees.
In one random group meeting of 29 students at LegCon, the combined debt of the students sitting around the circle was $1,645,000.00.
Goliath of student loans, the Sallie Mae Corporation holds $162.5 billion of student debt over the nation’s head. In 2010 and 2011 the corporation spent $6.8 million of their profit on lobbying activities, pressing their agenda of making student loans predatory. The federal government is now making a larger profit from student loans than ever before.
USSA is aggressive about recruiting students to their conferences whose voices are often marginalized. Sophia Zaman, current president of the USSA, said she was proud that this year LegCon included the largest representation of community college students in the organization’s history, and that a broad diversity of states were represented as well. “We are engaging a community of students that are deeply affected by current [higher education] policies, turning them into leaders, decision makers.”
Community college students, LGBTQ students, students of color, first generation college students, undocumented students, and women made up the overwhelming majority of the conference participants.
Guest keynote speaker Robert Samuels, president of the American Federation of Teachers for the University of California System, shared his arguments with the assembled students for why USSA’s goal of accessible education would be completely possible if national funding priorities were altered. Samuels estimates that it would cost the country $195 billion to offer a free college education for all students. In 2011, federal and state governments spent an estimated $201 billion on higher education, including $40 billion in tax breaks for wealthy ‘college trust fund’ investors.
In the immediate term, the USSA is asking legislators to support President Obama’s requests to increase Federal Work Study funding by $225 million, Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grants (FSEOG) by $242 million, increase the Pell Grant maximum award to $5,830, and expand the Pay As You Earn Program (PAYE) for all borrowers. In addition, the USSA is asking Congress to increase funding to the TRIO program by $52 million, which is designed to uplift low-income students, veterans, and students with disabilities.
Other “asks” include:
*Eliminating “box 23″ from FAFSA forms, which requires students to show any conviction related to possession or sale of illegal drugs while receiving federal student aid. USSA argues that this barrier targets low-income and students of color, going against the very reason FAFSA was created.
*Making federal student aid available to undocumented students with Deferred Action status.
*Recognizing same-sex civil unions on the FAFSA application.
*Supporting the Voting Rights Amendment Act, designed to reverse the Supreme Court’s ruling last year, which invalidated Section 4 of the Voting Rights Act of 1965. The Voting Rights Amendment Act of 2014 would restore the integrity of the original law, which required that districts with a history of racial discrimination obtain federal permission before changing their voting policies.
The students at LegCon have taken charge of their social movement like it is the fight of their lives, and indeed it is. Andrea Perkins is one such student at University of Oregon, completing her studies off campus in Chicago. Perkins is an indigenous youth leader and activist, representing the Idle No More movement and the Young Communist League, USA.
Perkins says that her home community of the Chinook Nation of Oregon and Washington has “had it up to here” with capitalist profiteering at the expense of human health and well-being. The Keystone XL pipeline is slated to run straight through the backyards, and even the houses, of thousands of first nations peoples living on reservations.
Perkins made a presentation explaining as much at LegCon. Already the damage done by tar sands extraction and fracking have rendered indigenous lands, in square miles larger than the size of England, uninhabitable across the U.S. and Canada (though indigenous children and families without other options continue to live in these toxic environments).
Jose Caceres, member of the Dreamers of Virginia, is a community college student in Arlington, VA. “When I graduated high school in 2011, I found out that I had to pay out-of-state tuition due to my legal status. I have a younger sister who was five years old when we came to this country, and I don’t want her to face the same obstacles I’ve had to face. I also fight for my parents.”
Caceres reports that at a recent National Congress of the Dreamers in Arizona, the organization chose to highlight two campaigns: Tuition equity for undocumented students, and ending deportations. “Basically, we want DACA for all,” Caceres said. “I like that here at LegCon they’re being inclusive of Dreamers, I wasn’t expecting that. Also I like meeting students from other parts of the movement, from around the country.”
Skylar from New Jersey is organizing around a bill that would allow transgendered people in the state to change their gender on their birth certificates. “Once you can change the birth certificate, it’s a lot easier to change your gender on the other documents like driver’s license, etc,” Skylar explains. Chris Christie vetoed the bill in January, however students continue to push for the legislation as part of the set of bills known as the Higher Education Legislative Package or “HELP.” How does this bill affect students especially? Skylar explains. “With this bill, students wouldn’t have to disclose their past personal history, and wouldn’t be outed as transgendered to their peers. Violence aimed at transgendered people on college campuses would really go down.”
Conference organizers were dealt an unexpected turn of events when two inches of snow from the night before shut the federal government down, making it impossible to lobby as planned. Quickly, USSA staff rearranged the day’s activities to include a morning of phone banking to legislators and a social media blitz. “When Congress comes into their offices tomorrow,” declared Zaman, “they’ll have so many phone messages from us they won’t know what to do.”

Hundreds arrested in Keystone XL pipeline protest

In a dramatic sign of growing opposition to construction of the Keystone XL pipeline, 398 students were arrested March 2 after they chained themselves to the White House fence.
A network of students called XL Dissent organized the protest, part of a groundswell of calls upon President Obama to block approval of the pipeline, which will carry millions of gallons of crude oil from the tar sands region in Alberta, Canada, to refineries in the United States.
“Obama was the first president I voted for, and I want real climate action and a rejection of the Keystone XL pipeline,” Nick Stracco, a senior at Tulane University and one of the organizers of the protest, told the Huffington Post. “The people that voted him into office have made it absolutely clear what we want, and that’s to reject Keystone XL.”
Over 1,000 students from some 80 campuses and 42 states gathered at Georgetown University and marched on the White House. The students, many dressed in mock hazmat suits, first stopped at the home of Secretary of State John Kerry, where they unfurled a giant black tarp to symbolize an oil spill.
The State Department has issued a finding claiming that building the Keystone XL pipeline won’t have a significant environmental impact. The State Department study was necessary because the pipeline crosses international borders and is required for federal approval. Kerry must sign off on the study.
Once at the White House, students again unfurled a giant tarp and lay down on it to symbolize an oil spill. Students then tied themselves to the fence with plastic handcuffs and were arrested.
“The youth really understand the traditional methods of creating change are not sufficient, so we needed to escalate,” Aly Johnson-Kurts told Politico. Johnson was one of those arrested.
“They say we are too young to make a difference, but we are proving them wrong, right here, right now,” Earthguardians Youth Director Xiuhtezcatl Martinez told the cheering crowd.
This was said to be the largest student civil disobedience action at the White House in a generation. Over 1,200 people of all ages were arrested in a similar protest organized by the environmental group 350.org at the White House in August 2011.
“An entire movement has thrown itself into in this Keystone fight, from local frontline groups to big national green organizations,” 350.org co-founder Bill McKibben wrote in an email to Huffington Post. “But this weekend shows the power and bravery of some of the most crucial elements: young people, and activists who understand the centrality of environmental justice.”
The Keystone XL pipeline is a project of TransCanada. Once constructed it will transport 830,000 barrels of tar sands crude oil, described as the “dirtiest oil,” to its refining destination in the Gulf Coast.
The pipeline would double the amount of tar sands crude oil entering the U.S.
Environmentalists are warning that burning this dirty oil will increase greenhouse gas emissions exponentially at a time when they must be reduced to stem the climate crisis.
They also warn of vast ecological decimation due to extraction from the tar sands and massive oil spills over delicate aquifers and waterways.
In one of the largest spills in U.S. history, one million gallons of oil gushed into Talmadge Creek and Kalamazoo River in Michigan in 2010 and it still hasn’t been fully cleaned up.
Activists from the Michigan Coalition Against Tar Sands also participated. Three activists were arrested last year trying to block construction of the pipeline by Enbridge Inc., which will also carry tar sands crude oil through the state. They face two to three years in jail if convicted.
Battles have also erupted in Detroit and Chicago over petcoke dumping. Petcoke is a byproduct of the refining process, which many believe is contributing to increases in cancer rates and other health issues.
Also participating in the demonstration were activists from the Indigenous community including Jasmine Thomas from Saik’uz First Nation in British Columbia.
Over 50 First Nation communities that will be impacted along the route of the pipeline are offering some of the fiercest resistance to construction.
“Even President Obama has admitted the jobs created are temporary and very few,” American University student Deirdre Shelly said in an interview on Democracy Now!
“There’s no reason why those jobs have to be in dirty and expensive oil. America is ready for a clean, green economy and we can begin by saying no to this dirty pipeline,” said Shelly.
In another protest, nine students were arrested when they sat in at the State Department building in San Francisco on March 3. XL Dissent organizers vowed the protests and acts of civil disobedience would continue.
Website 350.org has signed up over 70,000 people to commit civil disobedience against the pipeline. Many more actions are expected over the next few months.

Syria: A possible victory for diplomacy?

Most people who lean politically to the left end of the spectrum, when asked about the Syria situation, believe that a peaceful diplomatic solution to their civil war is possible and ideal. Until recently most believed this was not going to be a likely outcome, that either military intervention would take place or that nothing at all would be done.
The response to President Obama’s proposal to intervene in Syria was overwhelmingly negative. The president faced criticism from all ends of the political spectrum, Ironically even from the Far-right who usually favor war. Conspiracy theories surfaced on the internet claiming everything from chemical weapons were never used (and that the victims were actors!) to the Obama administration had sold the weapons to Assad. Recently however, this has changed. First president Obama sought congressional approval to take military action against Syria, making him the first president since WWII to do so, this made the option of avoiding involvement in Syria a possibility. Again the president moved towards the best possible solution in postponing the vote and declaring that “diplomacy in Syria deserves more time”.
While a “limited military intervention” remains a strong possibility, Syria has agreed to destroy their chemical weapons under UN supervision after. But questions still remain: will Syria actually destroy these weapons or are they just buying time? Was this “gun barrel diplomacy the presidents plan all along? or did Obama stumble onto a diplomatic solution? and finally, is this a step toward a peaceful Syria?

Jacksonville Against the War on Syria

Jacksonville, FL– Memorial park in Riverside was stage to a vocal outrage against U.S. military action in Syria. Over 130 Organizers, activists and members of Jacksonville’s local Syrian community came out en masse to speak out against U.S. imperialist intentions in Syria and to urge congressional representative Ander Crenshaw to vote as the people will.
An impromptu open speaker forum began the rally, allowing all present a chance to express opinion. Under the symbolic statue of Victory, many participants expressed concern that U.S. intervention would lead to hostile effects of colonialism. While others urged to stop the war preemptively, to cut the development of U.S. Corporate takeover. One organizer, Tefa Tamburo expressed her own experience , ““I have seen firsthand what U.S. Intervention does to not only my country [Colombia] but different countries through South America in a short amount of time. There for I felt the need of standing in solidarity with the brothers and sisters from Syria against a Military US Intervention.” Syrians in attendance spoke of unity, claiming that Muslim or Christian, all Syrian were under “one hand”. Many sought to illustrate the civilian causality in war, while others denounced war in more moderate terms, pointing out waste of tax dollars or resistance to send youth to fight.
From the open forum, a civil march proceeded down Riverside Avenue , under a black and white banner reading “Hands off Syria”. The marchers stopped at the office of Rep. Ander Crenshaw (R-4th District only to find the building locked and vacant, although organizers had been informed a representative would be there to receive the letters and concerns of those in opposition. Local television stations filmed cries of both devout Syrian Christians and Muslims as the protest continued. The end result was the duct taping of the letters and signs to the glass front of the building.
AFI-CIO Mobile Coordinator Mike Stovall, who was in attendance at the march, felt the situation would solidly effect the working class , noting that“…[M]oney will be spent for warfare while we are told that the budgets can’t sustain healthcare, schools, and public services, locally that means things like police and libraries. If there is a war, the working class children will be sent to fight it.As far as local actions go, I hope that they will have an impact of politicians who will then go and vote in Washington against the war following their constituents wishes.”


Fernando Figeroa , a UPS worker and fellow organizer, also highlighted the impact of war on the working class, “…war against Syria will hurt the working class by spending money on wars and occupations instead of jobs and education here at home…”.
The March took to the five points intersection for a brief stint and then concluded in the shade of Memorial Park. Future events where announced and final sentiments shared. Dave Schneider, concluded the march via bullhorn stating that ,”Since 2008, a lot of the anti-war forces dropped their vocal opposition to the US war machine because Obama was President. After seeing this President’s brutal assault on Libya two years ago – and the tepid response of some anti-war groups – I didn’t want to see that repeated in Syria. I think our march will go a long way in pressuring Ander Crenshaw and Corrine Brown to stop the President’s proposal before it gets out of Congress. Jacksonville sent a message yesterday, which is that we don’t support Obama’s war on Syria, and neither should our representatives. “

The March Forward

We do not live in a post-racial society. A simple statement, but one that many may attempt to refute with the election and re-election of the United States of America’s first black president Barack Obama. Yet, with current statistics showing the disproportionate rates in which people of color, in particular black and latino men and a growing amount of women, are being placed in prison as opposed to their white counterparts, we know that this is not the case. That there is still an undercurrent (and at time a very obvious current) of institutionalized racism that exists in the system we live under. It is understood by many that there are still laws that could be passed and measures taken to combat this racism that have yet to be placed on the political table. It is with this knowledge and understanding by many that the March on Washington, in order to celebrate the fiftieth anniversary of the historic 1963 March on Washington, took place just under a week ago in Washington D.C. Over thousands of people from across the nation came together in Washington to march on August 24, along with a week long event of celebrations and memorials. To understand the significance of the anniversary march one must also look at the original 1963 march in the context in which it existed at the time and came about. It was during a time of extreme racial unrest. Jim Crow, a rigid form of unequal segregation based on race, was alive and well in the United States of America.
To combat this overt racism significant accomplishments were achieved through the Civil Rights movement. Such as the 1954 decision of Brown v. The Board of Education. This was a case in which the Supreme Court recognized that separate schools for black and white children were unconstitutional. Strides were being made but there was still much left to be done. This was why the March in 1963 was called about. It was originally titled the March on Washington for Jobs and Freedom. Many credit this huge event of over 250,000 people marching in the streets of D.C with the passing of the 1964 Civil Rights Act that outlawed major forms of discrimination against racial, ethnic, national and religious minorities, and women. It is with that legacy that the fiftieth anniversary march took place. It is also with that knowledge that we understand that the fight for jobs and freedom is still being waged in the year 2013, and that although Jim Crow segregation was struck down, racial oppression is still evident in our country.
The anniversary march takes place with New York City’s ‘Stop and Frisk’ policy still being debated and fought against. A policy in which police are allowed to randomly stop, question, and frisk citizens for weapons. This policy has come under fire for the disproportionate rate in which African-Americans have been arrested and targeted. The march also happens just two months after a Florida court ruled George Zimmerman was not guilty for shooting and killing the young, unarmed, African-American teenaged boy Trayvon Martin. Not to mention the march is also happening at a time when unemployment rates are still high amongst people of color and the statics still show that nearly one in three African American males aged 20–29 are under some form of criminal justice supervision whether imprisoned, jailed, on parole or probation. The recent march is clearly a celebration of how far we have come as a nation, but it also highlights how much further we need to go.
The fight for jobs and freedom is still at the forefront. President Obama said it best during his speech on Wednesday, August 28th, the exact day of the 50th Anniversary of the march, when he, highlighting Dr. King’s historic “I Have A Dream” speech, stated, “For what does it profit a man, Dr. King would ask, to sit at an integrated lunch counter if he can’t afford the meal?” There is still a fight not only to be allowed to have an equal seat at the counter of life but to be able to afford the ‘meal’ once getting there. Yet, it is from the legacy of the historic march that we know change can come about and it is our job to take the momentum of the march to continue in our day to day campaigns and battles. “That’s the lesson of our past,” President Obama cited, “That’s the promise of tomorrow—that in the face of impossible odds, people who love their country can change it.”

Is right wing extremism the new norm?

If you live in upstate New York or similar communities you’ve probably seen or heard of protests and rallies: against the affordable healthcare act, against raising taxes on the extremely wealthy, against raising the minimum wage, against marriage equality and more than anything against stronger gun laws. These are the voices of the ultra-right, as of 2008, with the election of the first African American president: Neo-Nazi, Tea party, Ku Klux Klan and Militia groups have multiplied and exist in many small communities, across the internet, on radio talk shows and even in congress. Much of the rhetoric varies from group to group however it is consistently anti-Muslim, anti-LGBTQ, anti-worker, anti-reproductive rights, and radically pro-gun. These groups have become more vocal and in many cases more violent.
Galway: The smallest incorporated village in New York state with a proportionally small surrounding town in Saratoga county. Of Galways two thousand residents most know one another. Galway is home to a few local businesses, an animal hospital, three churches, a small public library and a small school who’s senior class usually contains an average of one hundred students. Glendon Scott Crawford, a General Electric employee, was a prominent and well known member of the community, he was married to the local High Schools Librarian and taught Sunday school in a local church, but Crawford was also a member of a radically right wing tea party/militia group called “Americans Demanding Liberty and Freedom” as well as a self proclaimed (but unconfirmed) member of the KKK. On June 20th 2013, Crawford was arrested on charges connected with domestic terrorism, attempting to build a truck mounted radiation gun which he believed could be used to poison people from a distance. His targets included Muslims and leftist. According to members of the community Crawford was a outspoken against Islam, women’s rights, immigrants rights, the presidency of Barack Obama and the NYS SAFE act. One girl, a Galway high graduate, told me in an interview “he was just really against Obama and really obsessed with guns, but that’s normal around here. I never thought he’d try to kill anyone, I mean he was my Sunday school teacher”, A student at Galway high told me, “Yeah, I talked to him a couple times, He just really hated Obama and it seemed like all he’d talk about”.
Another disturbingly similar incident took place earlier this year, in another small town of Clarkstown New York. A forty nine year old man, Larry Muiqueen. Another seemingly normal man also affiliated with a local Tea party group was arrested after his land lady alerted police to threats he made against local politicians via facebook. Police arrested Muiqueen and in his apartment found a “liberal hit list”, several rifles and bladed weapons. Muiqueen posted on a fake facebook account “I cannot wait to start killing the scum. I want these scumbags DEAD!!! That traitor scum. Obama subservient eunichs, F***k them and death to them”. Again in 2013 a Minnesota man, twenty four year old Buford Rogers, a member of a far right Militia called the Black Snake Militia was arrested in connection with domestic terrorism. In his mobile home the FBI found Molotov cocktails, pipe bombs and multiple firearms including an AKM assault rifle. There is no doubt that right wing domestic terrorism has become a trend in the United States seemingly in reaction the election of our first African American president.
Many may think that the actions of men like Crawford and Muiqueen, despite becoming the new norm in the US are of little significance politically, that people like them are “isolated incidents” which have no effect on the political mainstream but this is sadly far from the truth. In January of 2013 Washington state representative, Sherry Appleton, was forced to withdraw legislation she had introduced to repeal her states “stand your ground” law, a law which resulted in the 2012 shooting death of Trayvon Martin, an unarmed teenager. Appleton received threatening phone calls and emails stating “We will be watching you” and “You will be sorry”. Appleton withdrew the legislation saying “these people when it comes to guns, they can be really threatening. People like that, you can’t talk to. I mean it was shocking to me”.
Republican/”libertarians” Ron Paul and his son Rand have achieved a new level of popularity, especially across the internet and amongst young people. What many of the Pauls supporters may not know about their candidate is that he has a history with white supremacists and right wing extremist groups and ideology. In the late eighties and early nineties Ron Paul published a news letter that contained many racist and anti-Semitic remarks and often talked about the “upcoming race war”. Years after these were published Paul denied having any knowledge or control over what was published in a news letter with his name on it but the full extant of Ron Paul’s relationship with white supremacists came to light recently in emails leaked by the hacktivist collective “anonymous” which reveal Ron Paul and his son exchanged emails with and regularly meant with the American third position(a3p), a neo-Nazi groups started by violent white power skinheads from southern California. According to these emails the A3P supported Pauls 2012 presidential campaign both financially and by organizing events. Jamie Keslo, the A3Ps webmaster has been very open about his support for Ron and Rand Paul, writing in 2009 “My own opinion is that the White revolution has already begun, and that the good White folks like Quinn [a member of A3P] that fills these Ron Paul crowds and marching armies ARE the start of the revolution.” Aside from this connection A3P Ron Paul has a long history with other white supremacists such as Don Black, the owner of a “white nationalist” message board called stormfront, who also funded his presidential campaign.
These events, as shocking as they may seem, have been happening more frequently every year since 2008. Not only do radical right wing groups have record numbers of groups and demonstrations, mainstream news pundits and even politicians who represent their ideology in the republican party but now they have the fear of democratic politicians, a fear that poses a threat to our democracy.
