U.S. GOVERNMENT, JUDGES, POLICE DEPTS, CITY COUNCILS ASK GOOGLE TO REMOVE ALMOST 4,000 POLITICAL ARTICLES FROM SEARCH SERVICES
Reports came out yesterday in the UK covering Google’s newest release of their “Transparency Report.”  Turkey has been known for it’s total lack of press freedom, and now reports show the U.S. is approaching the same leagues as Turkey.
http://googleblog.blogspot.com/2013/04/transparency-report-more-government.html
The report was presented on the blog of Susan Infantino, the Legal Director of Google.  She and her legal team launched the annual Transparency Report three years ago, in hopes it would “shine light on the scale and scope of government requests for censorship and data around the globe.”
From January to June 2013, the search giant received 3,846 government requests to remove content from its search services, which represents a 68% increase over the second half of 2012.

Google’s Legal Director, Susan Infantino, goes on: “Over the past four years, one worrying trend has remained consistent: governments continue to ask us to remove political content.  Judges have asked us to remove information that’s critical of them, police departments ask us to take down videos or blogs that shine a light on their conduct, and local institutions like town councils don’t want people to be able to find information about their decision-making processes.”
“These officials often cite defamation, privacy, and even copyright laws in attempts to remove political speech from our services,” says Infantino.
One example is a request from a UK law firm representing a former member of Parliament to remove a preview from Google Books that allegedly defamed the MP by suggesting he was engaged in illegal activity.  The preview was removed.
“We have removed content in response to less than one third of requests,” Infantino adds.
From January to June 2013, the following countries made the most requests to remove content:
  • Turkey (1,673 requests detailing 12,162 items)
  • United States (545 requests detailing 3,887 items)
  • Brazil (321 requests detailing 1,635 items)
  • India (163 requests detailing 714 items)
  • Russia (257 requests detailing 277 items)
  • UK (117 requests for 556 items)

Is Barack Obama Using a Fake Soc. Sec. Number? Gov’t May Be Forced to Answer

Get ready birthers, Orly Taitz has won a small victory for those of you who think Obama is not a U.S. citizen. It seems that the US government may have to answer to why it seems that the Social Security number the President is using doesn’t quite seem legitimate.
Birther queen Orly Taitz has been filing one lawsuit after another to try to “learn the truth,” she says, of Obama’s true background. Is he a U.S. citizen? Taitz says no and has been trying for years to find the smoking gun that proves it.
But this time she has a small opening toward that end. Taitz contends that Barack Obama is using the Social Security number of a man named Harry Bounel. Taitz has filed with the Social Security Administration to get these records but the SSA has stonewalled Taitz when she has filed for Freedom of Information Act requests saying there is “no information” in their records to send to her.
Taitz went to court over the SSA’s stonewalling and has found a judge who has ruled that the government must respond to her requests on Obama’s and this Harry Bounel’s SS number records.

Report: CIA secretly helping Colombia kill FARC rebel leaders

Report: CIA secretly helping Colombia kill FARC rebel leaders

Guillermo Granja / Reuters file
Ecuadorean military personnel use a stretcher to carry a Colombian leftist rebel after Colombian troops crossed the border to attack in March 2008. Top FARC commander Raul Reyes was killed in the attack.
WASHINGTON -- A covert CIA program has helped Colombia's government kill at least two dozen leaders of the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia, the rebel insurgency also known as FARC, The Washington Post reported Saturday.
The National Security Agency has also provided "substantial eavesdropping help" to the Colombian government, according to the Post. And the U.S. provided Colombia with GPS equipment that can be used to transform regular munitions into "smart bombs" that can accurately home in on specific targets, even if they are located in dense jungles.
In March 2008, Colombian forces killed a top FARC commander, Raul Reyes, in one of several jungle camps the rebels operated in Ecuador, just across the border. The Post report Saturday said Colombia used U.S.-made smart bombs in the operation.
The report is based on interviews with more than 30 former and current U.S. and Colombian officials, who the Post said spoke on condition of anonymity because the program is classified and ongoing.
The CIA would not comment on the Post report. Without going into detail, Colombian President Juan Manuel Santos told the Post that the CIA has been "of help," providing Colombian forces with "better training and knowledge."
The multibillion-dollar program was funded secretly and separately from $9 billion in aid that the U.S. has openly provided to Colombia, mostly in military assistance. It was authorized by President George W. Bush and has continued under President Barack Obama, the newspaper reported.
Colombia's government and FARC have been engaged in peace talks in Havana since late 2012, but there has been no ceasefire between the two sides. Earlier this month Santos blamed the rebels for an attack on a police post that killed nine people, including civilians, military and a police officer.
The FARC rebels took up arms in 1964. The U.S.-backed military buildup has reduced FARC's ranks to about 9,000 fighters and killed several top commanders, though the rebels insist they are still a potent force.

Abdul Rahim poorest : viewers everywhere Welcome to you all in the new episode of the program from Washington , we stop in this episode when you set by President Obama to: Susan Rice, national security adviser and Samantha Power at the head of the U.S. Mission to the United Nations , what could mean the women 's policy Obama at home and attitudes of many of the issues of the Arab Gulf to the ocean through Syria , of course , my guests in this episode Professor Charles Kabchn of the Council on Foreign Relations American author of several books about the future of American power , including the book "The World is not controlled by one of the West and the rest of emerging and global transformation next , " the journalist Saeed Erekat , Professor Shibley Telhami of the University of Maryland who Shibley intersection of his career with Susan in the past , join us in this episode of Doha . If Samantha Power has known its position on the pro- military intervention for humanitarian purposes in previous crises like Rwanda and Bosnia , the Susan Rice has known for similar positions as well as its crucial role in Washington's involvement in the military to help topple the regime of Gaddafi .
[ Tape recorder ]
Barack Obama / U.S. president : as our ambassador to the United Nations Susan worked tirelessly in advancing our interests forward , and restored the vital U.S. diplomacy in New York , and helped to impose tough sanctions on Iran and North Korea , and defended Israel and supported the independence of South Sudan and raised their voices in defense of the rights of rights, including the rights of women .
Abdul Rahim poorest : Obama's like trying to pre-empt any interpretation for the appointment of Rice and Power that he is ready for military intervention in Syria , for example, a narrow window of appointment .
[ Tape recorder ]
Barack Obama / U.S. President : I think everyone knows that Susan fierce defenders of justice and human dignity , but also eager to use our power wisely and deliberately .
Abdul Rahim poorest : So what can be expected from Obama's choice of Susan Rice and Samantha Power for file Syrian specifically private and that they will join a strong team includes the ministers of both the Defense and State who agree with Obama's position so far in the Syrian file at least in the world, will you join to the women of this team will enhance its coherence or strengthens Nchazh ?
[ Tape recorder ]
LG Carney / White House spokesman : At the end it is up to the president alone to assess his views on foreign policy when it comes to matters on the table , and then take the appropriate decision so I think that President Obama's policy on Syria will be as it is his policy today.
The significance of the appointment of Rice
Abdul Rahim poorest : Before I open the debate with my guests in the studio and Doha , turn to our colleague Fadi Mansour from the White House , first you set Fadi Susan Rice and Samantha Power message to the inside or the outside?
Fadi Mansour / Al-Jazeera correspondent : Yes Abdul Rahim , perhaps it may be in both directions in one hand is a message to the outside, I think that it practically has Bastgrac repercussions through the initial shock and a lot of speculation we are considering here in this episode about what it means to assign each of Rice and Power in these positions the strong ? Does this mean a change in U.S. foreign policy , this hand especially with regard to the Syrian position , and whether this is an indication that President Barack Obama has taken a tougher stance from the Syrian issue , both in terms of supplying the opposition with weapons or hand military intervention , but in the inner side is also confirms his powers , we know that President Obama has sought in the past to set Susan Rice, practically in the position of Secretary of the Interior , but failed in this endeavor because of the Republican's campaign , which has against him and against specifically against the background of what happened in Benghazi and the accusations made against them that they misled the American public when he talked about the nature of the the attack in Benghazi , but also sought to send some messages to the interior and to strengthen the presence of both Rice and power when he said they were practically prefer or Tanagadan behind wise and realistic policy that the issue of military intervention or military force is not an issue absolute and thus there is double sided for Obama's message both external and internal .
Abdul Rahim poorest : Of course Tom Donilon Donilon , who is now adviser to Obama said his national President Obama that replaced Susan Rice or Obama administration says that replaced Susan Rice does not necessarily mean a change in the position of this administration on Middle East issues , in this case the question is what interest permission to replace Donilon Bryce ?
Fadi Mansour : First there is the side of a procedural purely American administration and successive administrations , President Barack Obama's administration second is usually a lot of faces change we have seen how it has changed and Defense Minister practically twice during the administrations of President Barack Obama , changed the secretary of state and of course change the national security adviser , but to look at it from this side , first Samantha Power in its position in the United Nations does not represent a practical point different from Susan Rice , but she represents a continuation of Susan Rice, in all cases in this position in practice is carried out the foreign policy of the U.S. administration may be a key player in the formation of this policy but its role in the international organization is dealing with other countries and try as much as possible to find consensus about the destinations that you want to be paid by the U.S. administration , Susan Rice as national security adviser, it is because she was with President Barack Obama since 2007 , and was Donilon on his way to the exit and therefore preferred course to come back out after failing in his bid first to be near him and in order to contribute significantly to practically formulate foreign and security policy of the United States , eventually Abdul Rahim, the administration of President Barack Obama will not start in dealing with Syria or with any other file in the premises ideology or of the concepts of fixed and Nadzh , President Barack Obama is not always inclined to military interventions with a large scale, and thus the two women will Taataamlan with reality as it is , and ultimately will decide the situation in Syria and the United States' ability to intervene is the nature of the balance of power and what is available in front of the United States in this file .
Abdul Rahim poorest : Fadi regardless of political content now to this appointment , Image Obama , in announcing the appointment of these two women expressive , black U.S. president , along with two women , one black as well Is the message now to the outside of the Middle East , which he says many people where demanding citizenship and Obama offers this picture or is the image of the inside to the Republicans here in the United States who are facing problems as it is known to attract minorities , for example?
Fadi Mansour : No, I do not know how to read or agree external audiences specifically in the Middle East in the reading of a normal appointment of Susan Rice, in this position , and whether it was perceived symbolism virtue she is a woman in the forties with children practically a woman of African- American , I do not know if this sensitivity exists in this sense can capture these signals , the more likely that the appointment of Susan Rice in this position is read from the political reality is not reality , so to speak cultural or women's rights , and there, perhaps at home this may be more important especially as it appoints practically two women as I pointed out , two women, two young women in the forties Mtzojtin have children , especially in the context of social senior U.S. which , according to recent statistics that virtually a quarter of the families in the United States women are the primary source of income there this climb , but even inside the U.S. I do not know what the importance of such significance ? Does reading will be limited in relation to the daily politics in Washington, on the political side ? But there must be some votes in the elite , some votes at the stream of women's rights and so on , and also some votes in the next election campaign will refer to this aspect with regard to women and minorities, perhaps being used as I pointed out in practice in order to collect political gains .
Abdul Rahim poorest : Thanks for the fellow Fadi Mansour , joined us from the White House , Professor Charles Kabchn what you read in the appointment of Susan Rice and Samantha Power for the future of American power , American foreign policy in the Syrian file Kalmlv ?
Charles Kabchn : I do not think that this bend in the world of politics as Obama adopted a limit heavily on a small loop internal were with him during the campaign, including Susan Rice, and Samantha Power , and therefore these two women were with him from the beginning, and see their voices now become stronger, but I think it does not change political scene and ideological , and I think it is important to point out and explain the strength of the restrictions and pressure on Obama when it comes to the use of military force , especially in Syria , first the Americans are tired and fed up because of the intervention in Iraq and Afghanistan, even Republicans say that should reduce military spending and then secondly everyone feel depressed and do not want the Department of Defense any new commitments , Third, the nature of the conflict in Syria makes Obama and those around him say it may be a quagmire last soak in it , as happened in Libya , Iraq and Afghanistan if gathered together in this case , even if entered intervened in good intentions but people would shoot at the Americans and thus there is nothing we felt that there was opposition to Syria and clear , and if they entered the arms to Syria, the fall in the wrong hands , which puts pressure on the U.S. administration currently .
Abdul Rahim poorest : Charles this logic , who spoke by you now what is the maximum effect that can have , Susan Rice, and Samantha Fox on the political Obama?
Charles Kabchn : I think that probably , that Obama is a person , a more head take things for himself in foreign policy at the time of Richard Nixon, there was not any head other is worthwhile daily affairs of foreign policy , but this is one of the reasons we find that the game changed chairs will not lead significant changes , it is true that Susan Rice is very close to him have I watched image after the announcement of the appointment are proceeding with a Ihtdhanhma , understanding friends and is therefore reliable and trusting them to a large extent , but I think that the capacity of these women tend to humanitarian intervention and their ability is limited, but the thing the only one that I can say is that I think it is very possible that the United States may increase its partnership and enter here in Syria, this is possible , but this is not the result of the influence of Rice growing but because it seems that the Assad regime is making progress and that rebels in the case of self-defense, and therefore if they fail meetings and Conference Geneva 2 Obama will be the time has come to doing another activity , and more .
Abdul Rahim poorest : Happy What do you think ?
Said Erekat : I think that the most important message in this appointment is that the President said that the foreign policy and security policy will be managed from the White House , in the past there was Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, and she was a strong personality and practically ran foreign policy and as an independent entity to some extent, The fact that the nature of the background of the conflict between Hillary Clinton and the President gave her plenty of field and plenty of movement to lead foreign policy , now is the next Susan Rice specifically and next to Samantha Power says that foreign policy will be managed from here from the White House , there are of course other messages under this tent policy intervention and everybody knows that Susan Rice, a proponent of intervention in addition to humanitarian support , advocates of intervention in addition to payment democratic freedoms , as well as also Samantha Power both advocates of intervention and those who put the policy of intervention in Libya , there may be little difference between Susan Rice and Samantha Power on the situation Palestinian , Susan Rice, is always to some extent has always been the face of the efforts of the Palestinian , Samantha Power may be more willing to accept a Palestinian efforts .
Abdul Rahim poorest : You say now that in the appointment of two women to remind that the foreign and security policy of the United States made in the White House and not elsewhere , Africa , for example, where many of the crises in Sudan, Western Sahara problem Does this mean that these parties must now go when heading to Washington should go directly to the White House without passing through the foreign or defense ?
Said Erekat : Certainly , I think that , especially to Susan Rice, the experience in the past, which is when I worked in the administration of President Clinton, the former worked in this context, and in this regard as well as orientation to the east, to go to China , go to Thailand to much of the eastern regions in the sense that we move away a little from the Middle East and other regions are heading towards that may be neglected in the previous era .
Abdul Rahim poorest : We will return to this theme in the second part of the program, Shibley Telhami in Doha, I want to accept it with you and your viewers some of what was said by David Ignatius in the Washington Post a few days ago says that the upgrade Susan Rice to the post of national security adviser, would be useful for the Obama administration, which facing difficulties in drawing up policies and clear-cut in his second term , will be given to Susan Rice, the White House a new ability to focus more on foreign policy , and may not agree with the others always but they know what you think about it , has put thoughts of Obama's political in a more accurate , especially on Syria , what is the accuracy needed by Obama in the Syrian file even heard of Rice did not hear Donilon , Tom Donilon Ptsourk ?
Shibley Telhami : Let me start first for what you're talking about with respect to any of the message behind these appointments, I do not think there is any message ..
Abdul Rahim poorest : Briefly if allowed Shibley ..
Shibley Telhami : The issue here is that the President respects these two ..
Abdul Rahim poorest : Sorry Sorry I am compelled to interrupt Shibley sound so bad because now we will try to fix it , Charles, what are the precision needed by Obama in this section in the Syrian file from Susan Rice, nor provided by Tom Donilon ?
Charles Kabchn : I think as Mr. when put up an important point by saying that Susan Rice, perhaps when he said that as more personal stronger than its predecessor Donilon this director expert has spent all his career in Washington, he moved from place to place to make sure that the various parties in the foreign policy, defense and state and external , and I think that Susan Rice will be submitted to the job site or a stronger stance on key issues such as Syria, but it ends at Obama because Obama is a strong man he shares a day in the administration 's foreign policy and that Obama already faces domestic pressure I think it's as strong as any , are exposed any U.S. president since World War II and not the issue of the image in the Middle East that wants to be spared , and Obama should Arkzh on issues such as the emergence of China , India, Brazil and issue the U.S. has become in an awkward position and I think and therefore very hesitant to engage in risky to pay the United States into another war does not the end of it in the Middle East , and thus ultimately I do not see I do not think that these appointments to Bauer and Rice is could be the beginning of a significant change in U.S. foreign policy .
Abdul Rahim poorest : If things of this logic, if the logic of this designation is to be given this position , Susan Rice, without affecting Susan Rice on Obama's position specifically on the issue of U.S. military interventions for humanitarian purposes means you useful in this speech is that proximity to it Kmkavotha friend thus the image like a picture of a third world country and it is not a democratic country like the United States means a reward friends ?
Said Erekat : I think that there is something certainly we have to remember that Susan Rice, who was in favor of Clinton jumped to the support of Barack Obama , which left bitterness in the mouth of Hillary Clinton at that stage , there is kind of a bonus, but I'm telling you what he said me, a close associate of Susan Rice, they want to face with the presence of the world Donilon was working behind the scenes and dimly not see one , they want a face- facing can appear on the programs also appeared on the program and talk about foreign policy and defend it and speak it strong so that the policy of President given to the American people almost every week and every day and strongly , and they believe that Susan Rice can do it , its impact on foreign policy, especially regarding intervention in Syria, in particular I think that the position of Susan Rice, known to intervene , but data are quite different I think ..
Abdul Rahim poorest : Currently ?
Said Erekat : offline .
Abdul Rahim poorest : After her appointment ?
Said Erekat : even after the set , I think that the situation in Syria is complicated large as stated Charles few minutes ago , the American people tired of war, tired of collusion and tired of getting caught in the mud wars infinite They see Syria as a state is more complicated than Iraq and more confrontation between the forces of different both at the level of sectarian or political level and with the implications of a very large region of Israel on Lebanon and thus intervention reality for Syria is something that needs a lot of precision and a lot of study before taking the first step , so even see that the promises made in the past to provide trucks and provide a means of contact until this moment did not provide .
Abdul Rahim poorest : I think that the connection has been repaired with Shibley in Doha , Shibley if you hear me in the limits of what can be provided by Susan Rice, the Obama administration , especially in a complex Kalmlv Syrian means without expect that Obama will change his position on the basis of what Charles and happy , what is the maximum that can affect it , Susan Rice, and Samantha Power on Obama's position on the Syrian file ?
Shibley Telhami : let's focus on Susan Rice because Samantha Power , of course in the executive office and not in the position of decision-making , there was Susan Rice did not significantly affect the decision-making let's focus on Rice in particular , without a doubt , even if there was no message behind this post I do not think that there is a clear message for policy change there dimensions , have different views of each person affects the decision-making and without a doubt is the focus on human rights issues more than Tom Donilon this is clear , but if we look at the position , which analyzed many for Rwanda in particular the circumstances are quite different , I do not say differ only for Rwanda and Syria , but the problem for the United States in that period, it was the United States can get international support if they were willing to pay for the intervention , but this situation has changed completely for the equation of international and rejection Russian and rejection Chinese do not think that Rice or even Samantha Power at the site may agree to face Russia or face or military intervention significantly without international support to look into it, but at the same time, there are many possibilities for taking different positions for intervention and I know that even means , regardless of my knowledge , Susan Rice, fellow at the Brookings and worked with them also in the Kerry campaign election for the presidency in 2004 , but through you are a member of the board of directors of human Rights Watch, and through this lens was clear that the international organizations in the human rights consider to Samantha Power and Susan Rice as friends of human rights issues , therefore I think that ..
Abdul Rahim poorest : Ok Shibley Sorry got the message Shibley Ost I want to hear and listen to the audience what was said by Charles Krauthammer in the Washington Post a few days before commenting on Kerry specifically says : The response of Obama and send his foreign minister to Moscow toady , has returned John Kerry , believing that

Whistleblower to testify on Benghazi

STORY HIGHLIGHTS
  • Former U.S. official in Libya wonders why no plane was sent during the Benghazi attacks
  • The official, Greg Hicks, and others will testify before a House committee Wednesday
  • Planes at a base in Italy would not have made it for hours, top officials have said
  • Hicks' comments come from a transcript of his interview with investigators in April
Washington (CNN) -- In an interview with congressional investigators, a former top diplomat in Libya expressed concern that more could have been done by the military on September 11-12 last year to protect those being attacked at the U.S. compound and annex in Benghazi, Libya.
Specifically, Greg Hicks wondered why the military did not send a plane into Libyan airspace as a show of force, and why four U.S. Special Operations soldiers were not permitted to travel to Benghazi on a Libyan plane the morning of September 12.
The House Oversight and Government Reform Committee will hear from Hicks and others in a Wednesday hearing on the Benghazi tragedy, which ended in the deaths of four Americans -- U.S. Ambassador Chris Stevens, information officer Sean Smith, and former Navy SEALs Tyrone Woods and Glen Doherty.
The committee's chairman, Rep. Darrell Issa, told CNN Monday that Hicks, who was the U.S. deputy chief of mission in Libya at the time of the attack, "is going to testify that from the get-go, he knew this was a terrorist attack and communicated that to the White House, to the State Department, to anyone that would listen before, during, and after."
Issa asserted that the Obama administration's "talking points" afterward -- specifically the statements by the U.S. ambassador to the United Nations, Susan Rice, which did not acknowledge that it was a terrorist attack, "had an effect on our diplomatic relations" with Libya and "was an unnecessary error."

Benghazi: Terrorist attack from the start
He said he wants to know "who made the decision to change the talking points in a way that caused the American people to be lied to."
Issa denied that the hearing is a Republican effort to discredit a Democratic administration, and asked, "Why aren't the Democrats just as upset that we didn't do all we could do to save American lives?"
Beyond the Benghazi attack, he said, he expects the hearing to shed light on a failing war on terror, one in which Syria is erupting, one in which Egypt is erupting, one in which Boston is the result of terrorists, of Islamic extreme groups, and I think that's the message the American people want to hear is, tell us the truth, do what it takes to have us be protected, don't tell us things aren't terrorist attacks when they are."
Hicks spoke to investigators on April 11 of this year, and excerpts of transcripts of the interview were obtained by CNN.
"The Libyans that I talked to, and the Libyans and other Americans who were involved in the war have told me also, that Libyan revolutionaries were very cognizant of the impact that American and NATO airpower had with respect to their victory," Hicks said.
"They are under no illusions that American and NATO airpower won that war for them. And so, in my personal opinion, a fast mover flying over Benghazi at some point, you know, as soon as possible might very well have prevented some of the bad things that happened that night."
Hicks went on to say he believes "if we had been able to scramble a fighter or aircraft or two over Benghazi as quickly as possible after the attack commenced" -- around 9:30 that night -- "I believe there would not have been a mortar attack on the annex in the morning because I believe the Libyans would have split. They would have been scared to death that we would have gotten a laser on them and killed them."
The former deputy chief of mission suggested that the Libyan government would have granted the United States permission to fly the planes.
"I believe that the Libyans were hoping that we were going to come bail them out of this mess," Hicks said. "And, you know, they were as surprised as we were that ... the military forces that did arrive only arrived on the evening of September 12th."
Rep. Jason Chaffetz, R-Utah, a member of the committee, tells CNN that "military personnel were ready willing and able, and within proximity, but the Pentagon told them they had no authority and to stand down."
Issa added that the personnel "may not have arrived in time to save lives, but at the time the decision was made, the decision was wrong."
In February, the Joint Chiefs chairman, Gen. Martin Dempsey, was asked by Sen. Kelly Ayotte, R-New Hampshire, why F-16s at Aviano Air Base in Italy weren't deployed to Benghazi that night.
"This is the middle of the night now, these are not aircraft on strip alert," Dempsey said. "They're there as part of our commitment to NATO and Europe. And so, as we looked at the time line , it was pretty clear that it would take up to 20 hours or so to get them there. Secondly, senator, importantly, it was the wrong tool for the job."
Then-Secretary of Defense Leon Panetta testified that "unfortunately, there was no specific intelligence or indications of an imminent attack on U.S. facilities in Benghazi. And frankly, without an adequate warning, there was not enough time given the speed of the attack for armed military assets to respond.
"That's not just my view or General Dempsey's view. It was the view of the Accountability Review Board that studied what happened on that day," he added.
"This is not 9/11," Panetta said in a February interview on CNN's "State of the Union." "You cannot just simply call and expect within two minutes to have a team in place. It takes time. That's the nature of it. Our people are there, they're in position to move, but we've got to have good intelligence that gives us a heads up that something's going to happen."
Hicks said that around 10 p.m. on the night of the first attack, he was at the U.S. Embassy in Tripoli talking to State Department officials in Washington, regional security officer John Martinec at the U.S. Embassy, defense attache Lt. Col. Keith Phillips and others.
Phillips was reaching out to officials with the Libyan Ministry of Defense and to the chief of staff of the Libyan Armed Forces, as well as officials with the Joint Staff and the U.S. Africa Command.
Hicks recalled asking Phillips, "Is there anything coming?"
He said Phillips replied "that the nearest fighter planes were Aviano, that he had been told that it would take two to three hours to get them airborne, but that there were no tanker assets near enough to support a flight from Aviano."
There was one team that headed from Tripoli to Benghazi, arriving at around 1:15 a.m., Hicks said.
Phillips, Hicks recalled, "worked assiduously all night long to try to get the Libyan military to respond in some way." The Libyan prime minister called Hicks and told him that the U.S. ambassador had been killed, after which "the Libyan military agreed to fly their C-130 to Benghazi and carry additional personnel to Benghazi as reinforcements."
Hicks said that four U.S. Special Forces troops in Tripoli -- led by the leader of the U.S. Special Operations Command Africa, SOCAfrica -- planned to hitch a ride on the Libyan plan to travel to Benghazi to help.
"We fully intended for those guys to go, because we had already essentially stripped ourselves of our security presence, or our security capability, to the bare minimum," Hicks recalled.
But the four were informed by someone with SOCAfrica that they didn't have the authority to go, Hicks said.
"So Lt. Col. Gibson, who is the SOCAfrica commander, his team, you know, they were on their way to the vehicles to go to the airport to get on the C-130 when he got a phone call from SOCAfrica which said, 'you can't go now, you don't have authority to go now,'' Hicks said. "And so they missed the flight."
"They were told not to board the flight, so they missed it," Hicks said. "I still remember Col. Gibson, he said, 'I have never been so embarrassed in my life that a State Department officer has bigger balls than somebody in the military.' A nice compliment."
The C-130 left between 6 and 6:30 a.m., so the four Special Forces troops would not have arrived in time to fend off the 5:15 a.m. attack on the CIA annex in Benghazi.
Hicks said he recalled asking Phillips again if any military help was coming. "The answer, again, was the same as before. It's too far away, there are no tankers. ... There is nothing that could respond. ...
"I guess they just didn't have the right authority from the right level," Hicks recalled.
Panetta, in his February testimony defending officials' actions, said, "The bottom line is this, that we were not dealing with a prolonged or continuous assault, which could have been brought to an end by a U.S. military response, very simply, although we had forces deployed to the region. Time, distance, the lack of an adequate warning, events that moved very quickly on the ground prevented a more immediate response.
"Despite the uncertainty at the time, the Department of Defense and the rest of the United States government spared no effort to do everything we could to try to save American lives. Before, during and after the attack, every request the Department of Defense received we did, we accomplished."

I saw a note slide across the #TCOT feed on Twitter last night that mentioned Michelle Obama had no law license. This struck me as odd, since (a) she went to school to be a lawyer, and (b) she just recently held a position with the University of Chicago Hospitals as legal counsel — and that’s a pretty hard job to qualify for without a law license.
But being a licensed professional myself, i knew that every state not only requires licensure, they make it possible to check online the status of any licensed professional. So I did, and here’s the results from theARDC Website:
Obama Michelle law license
She “voluntarily surrendered” her license in 1993.  Let me explain what that means.  A “Voluntary Surrender” is not something where you decide “Gee, a license is not really something i need anymore, is it?” and forget to renew your license.  No, a “Voluntary Surrender” is something you do when you’ve been accused of something, and you ‘voluntarily surrender” your license about five seconds before the state suspends (or disbars) you.
Here’s an illustration: I’m a nurse.  At various times in my 28 years of nursing I’ve done other things when I got burned out; most notably a few years as a limousine driver; even an Amway salesman at one point.  I always, always renewed my nursing license — simply becuase it’s easier to send the state $49.00 a month than to pay the $200, take a test, wate six weeks, etc., etc. . .  I’ve worked (recently) in a Nursing Home where there was an 88 year old lawyer and a 95 year old physician.  Both of them still had current licensures as well.  They would never DREAM of letting their licenses lapse.  I happen to know there is currently in the Indiana State Prison in Michigan City Indiana an inmate who is a licensed physician, convicted of murder when he chased the two burlars who entered his home and terrorized his family into the street and killed them.  (And I can’t say i blame him for that, either.)  This phisican still has an active medical license and still sees patients, writes prescriptions, etc all from inside the prison.
And he renews his medical licese every two years, too.
I tried looking up why she would “Voluntarily surrender” her licese, but Illinois does not have it’s 1993 records online.
But when I searched for “Obama”, I found this:
Barack Obama law license
“Voluntarily retired” — what does that mean? Bill Clinton hung onto his law license until he was convicted of making a false statement in the Lewinsky case and had to “Voluntarily Surrender” his license too.
This is the former editor of the Harvard Law Review who doesn’t seem to give a crap about his law license.
Something else odd; while the Search feature brings up the names, any seaches for the Disciplinary actions ends quicky.
As in, Too Quickly. Less than a half-second quickly on a Search Engine that can take five seconds to Search for anything.
As in, “there’s a block on that information” kind of thing.
So we have the first Lawyer President and First Lady — who don’t actually have licenses to practice law.
There’s more to this story, I’m sure. I’ll let you know when I find it.

The Obamas discourage work in the private sector. “Don’t go into corporate America,” Michelle has exhorted youth. “Work for the community. Be social workers.” Shun the “money culture,” Barack added. “Individual salvation depends on collective salvation.”

“If you commit to serving your community,” he pledged in his Denver acceptance speech, “we will make sure you can afford a college education.” So, go through government to go to college, and then go back into government.

Many of today’s youth find the pitch attractive. “I may spend the rest of my life trying to create social movement,” said Brian Coovert of the Cincinnati chapter. “There is always going to be work to do. Until we have a perfect country, I’ll have a job.”

Not all the recruits appreciate the PC indoctrination. “It was too touchy-feely,” said Nelly Nieblas, 29, of the 2005 Los Angeles class. “It’s a lot of talk about race, a lot of talk about sexism, a lot of talk about homophobia, talk about -isms and phobias.”

One of those -isms is “heterosexism,” which a Public Allies training seminar in Chicago describes as a negative byproduct of “capitalism, white supremacy, patriarchy and male-dominated privilege.”

I used to be licensed to drive a school bus. I too kept the license current by paying the extra fee when I renewed my driver’s license, because it was easier than requalifying if I chose to return to the job.
I only let the bus part lapse when I became disabled and was certain I could never work again. Even then, I kept my regular driver’s license valid despite being unable to drive safely myself, because it allowed me to ride along as a licensed driver while my kids were using learner’s permits.

Did someone doctor the article entry, or did the ARDC website revise the info? According to today’s entry, the “last registered date of 1993″ isn’t there”.
    {{The screen capture you see in the article was taken the day the article was written. If the ARDC website says something else, then somebody at the ARDC has altered it.}}

Under what circumstances would a court order inactive status where the lawyer is not at fault of wrong doing?

I believe that Obama has never had a license to practice law. Seen wether he passed the bar? No. Any Harvard papers? No
The same applies to all his alleged “propers”. Due to the fact that he was a CIA operative, traveling to and from Pakistan, Russia, he has a free pass to everything.
As for Michelle.. does anyone really know anything about her?? Seen any baby pictures of the daughters or her pregnant?
This is all a ruse. Sadly, our government bought into it too.
