Ship from Ebola-Plauged Liberia with Sick Passengers Docks in Louisiana

When a ship from an Ebola-plagued nation docks on American shores with a crew full of sick passengers, by all means, we should bring them into the country and treat them.

But don’t worry – the CDC figured it was probably fine.

According to a release from the CDC, the ship was reported to have traveled to a port in the Democratic Republic of the Congo and others in Africa. Officials immediately downplayed the likelihood that the sickness was related to an outbreak of Ebola in that part of the world.
“There is no evidence to suggest that the crew members traveled to, or had any contact with anyone from the remote island region of DRC where Ebola cases are occurring. Given this, the chance that the crew member could have Ebola is thought to be exceedingly low,” the CDC stated. (source)

Gee, that sounds like it’s no big deal. And, health professionals used safety precautions, and the only people there were from the CDC. Oh – and the hospital. And there were some guys from the Coast Guard. Also some “various government epidemiologists. They’ve got this handled.

“Our doctors and staff are ready and we have instituted full safety precautions in the unlikely event that this turns out to be something of concern,” said WJMC spokeswoman Taslin Alfonzo. “Everyone is using an abundance of caution until the patients can actually be assessed and appropriately diagnosed.”
Embedded in the hospital’s emergency room is the Region 1 disaster coordinator from the state, Alfonzo said.
Officials in New Orleans confirmed that the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the U.S. Coast Guard and various government epidemiologists were at the scene in Belle Chasse, where the vessel, identified as the Marine Phoenix, anchored near the Naval Air Station Joint Reserve Base. Besides, it turned out to be malaria, anyway. People just get so worried over nothing.

The crew member was taken to West Jefferson Medical Center for treatment. At least three more crew members, plus the river pilot who boarded the ship, were also expected to arrive at the hospital Wednesday night.
The crew member with malaria was listed in critical condition, Plaquemines Parish President Billy Nungesser said before the diagnosis was made.
Late Wednesday, officials told WDSU that another member of the crew — who had left the ship to seek treatment in the Bahamas — had died. That crew member was also diagnosed with malaria. (source)

Anyway, even if it had been Ebola, there’s nothing to get worked up over. The WDSU news guy said so.

“Even if a person on the ship was exposed to Ebola, once they are screened by medical personnel in New Orleans, they would not be able to go anywhere,” said WDSU Medical Editor Dr. Corey Hebert. “Even if they did get out, it has to be spread by direct bodily fluids.” (source)

So stop worrying. Our government has an iron grasp on the situation. You just don’t understand the finer points of all this stuff. They may not be closing our borders. They may be knowingly bringing in people who could be infected. But they have your best interests at heart, and they’ll take care of you.
If you feel otherwise, you’re just one of those crazy preppers or anti-government conspiracy people. You probably even read articles about how to prepare for a pandemic.
Because, it’s just Ebola. Don’t worry.

themselves online dancing along to the music.
British journalists investigating the deaths of Russian
servicemen on the border of Ukraine have been
attacked by unnamed assailants and their recordings
erased.
The Border Patrol is going to
test wearing body cameras in response to complaints about
misconduct and lack of transparency.

ISIS is calling for radicalized “lone wolves” in the United States to go to the homes of U.S. soldiers and “slaughter” military personnel.

This is part of what is expected to be “a continued call” for American military personnel to be targeted within the United States.

According to Fox News, one British jihadist “encouraged radicals still living in the West to use Facebook and Linkedln to find and target soldiers.” The jihadist tweeted: “You could literally search for soldiers, find their town, photos of them, look for addresses in Yellowbook or something. Then show up and slaughter them.”

Militants in Syria have also been using Twitter to “[encourage] Muslims in the West to target soldiers with spontaneous attacks using [knives and guns],” the report continued.

On September 16, NBC News reported on a Rochester, New York man, Mafid A. Elfgeeh, who was charged for “trying to recruit people to join…ISIS…and shoot people in the United States.” Elfgeeh is a naturalized U.S. citizen from Yemen. The targets Elfgeeh allegedly had in mind were “American military personnel returning from the Middle East.”

The day before the 13th anniversary of 9-11, four known terrorists were captured crossing America’s southern border into Texas.

There were caught at two different border stations, meaning they were spread out to assure at least one of them would get through.

All four of these men had known ties directly to the Middle East.

In the video below Gary Painter, Sheriff from Midland County, Texas, warned Fox & Friends’ Elisabeth Hasselbeck that not only was ISIS poised to sneak into the U.S through the porous Texas-Mexico border, but that based on evidence he’d heard of, “Muslims” were already being smuggled across.

On Monday, Sheriff Gary Painter of Midland County, Texas, said he believes some ISIS terrorists may have already crossed the border. He also told Elizabeth Hassebeck that “we have found copies, or people along the border, have found Muslim clothing, they have found Quran books that are laying on the side of the trail.”

Liberals, meanwhile, have downplayed the reports, claiming they are nothing more than attempts to attack Obama on his weak immigration policies. Rep. Beto O’Rourke, D-Texas, for example, claimed there’s “a longstanding history in this country of projecting whatever fears we have onto the border.”

He presented no evidence that the alleged Muslims were connected to ISIS or any other terror group. “Are you saying that ISIS is ready to come across poised to perhaps execute what they have threatened to do, attacks on the United States, drown us in our own blood?” Hasselbeck asked. “Is that what you’re saying?”
“I’m saying the border is wide open,” Painter replied. “We have found copies, or people along the border, have found Muslim clothing, they have found Quran books that are laying on the side of the trail. So we know that there are Muslims that have come across, have been smuggled in the United States.”
The idea that ISIS is operating in Mexico, or even outside the eastern Syria/northern Iraq region where they’re based, has been rebutted numerous times, most recently by the Department of Homeland Security, something Fox News itself has reported on. In addition, Fox News anchor Geraldo Rivera told the Fox & Friends troika last week that the idea was nonsense.
Nonetheless, Hasselbeck agreed with Painter’s dire prediction and asked what he thought the U.S. should do.
“If they show their ugly head in our area, we’ll send them to hell,” Painter said. “I think the United States needs to get busy and they need to bomb them. They need to take them out. I would like for them to hit them so hard and so often that every time they hear a propeller on a plane or a jet aircraft engine that they urinate down both legs.”

Australia Arrests 15 ISIS Members Plotting Beheadings in Largest Terror Raid in Its History

Australia swooped to detain people with suspected links to Islamic State on Sept. 18, 2014.

Over 800 police officers in Australia arrested 15 people on Thursday allegedly connected to terror group ISIS, who are believed to have planned to kidnap and behead people on camera. The counter-terrorism raids on houses and vehicles in Sydney and Brisbane were the largest ever in the country's history.
The Australian Broadcasting Corporation reported that the raids occurred just before dawn on Thursday, and took into custody Mohammad Ali Baryalei, identified as Australia's most senior Islamic State member.
Authorities believe Baryalei delivered instructions to Islamic extremists to kidnap people in Brisbane and Sydney and have them executed on camera.
The terror group, which is active in Iraq and Syria, has released a number of beheading videos targeting westerners. At least two American journalists and one British aid worker were beheaded on video in recent weeks.
Commonwealth prosecutor Michael Allnutt told Sydney's Central Local Court that the foiled plans were "clearly designed to shock, horrify and terrify the community."
Allnutt added there was "a plan to commit extremely serious offenses" that involved an "unusual level of fanaticism."
The prosecutor noted that the plot involved the "random selection of persons to rather gruesomely execute" and said there was an "irrational determination to commit that plan," as the suspects were committed to carrying out their attacks even though they knew they were under police surveillance.
"It's been an immediate reaction to a clear, imperative danger," Allnutt said. "There is still an enormous amount of material for police to assess."
There have been several reports of people in western countries choosing to join ISIS, including Americans and Britons. Australian Prime Minister Tony Abbott, who was briefed the night before the operation, said that the threat has spread to his country as well.
"The exhortations, quite direct exhortations, were coming from an Australian who is apparently quite senior in ISIL to networks of support back in Australia to conduct demonstration killings here in this country," Abbott said.
"There are, I regret to say, networks of people here in this country who, despite living here, despite enjoying the Australian way of life, they would do us harm and it's very important that our police and security organizations be one step ahead of them and I think this morning they were."
New South Wales Police Commissioner Andrew Scipione assured citizens that now is not the time to panic.
"We need to let people know that they are safe, and certainly from our perspective, we know that the work this morning will ensure that all of those plans that may have been on foot have been thwarted," Scipione said.
ISIS has also threatened Israel over its conflict with Islamic militant group Hamas, and pledged to fight against U.S. intervention in the region.
"As for the massacres taking place in Gaza against the Muslim men, women and children, the Islamic State will do everything within its means to continue striking down every apostate who stands as an obstacle on its path toward Palestine," the group says in an entry in the publication Dabiq.
"[The Islamic State's] actions speak louder than its words and it is only a matter of time and patience before it reaches Palestine to fight the barbaric Jews and kill those of them hiding behind the gharqad trees — the trees of the Jews," the terror group added.
U.S. president Barack Obama last week announced that the U.S. will lead a broad coalition of "friends and allies" who will fight back against ISIS.
Obama said that the outlined counter-terrorism campaign "will be waged through a steady, relentless effort to take out ISIL wherever they exist, using our air power and our support for partner forces on the ground." He noted that the U.S. will continue launching airstrikes against ISIS targets, but without sending ground troops.
