Attkisson Charges ‘Well-Orchestrated Strategy' Underway to Diminish Benghazi Coverage

Former CBS investigative journalist Sharyl Attkisson had some harsh words to share about the Obama administration and its supporters while she was a guest on Monday morning's Fox & Friends program.

After viewing some clips from Sunday's edition of ABC's This Week With George Stephanopoulos in which conservative pundit Laura Ingraham and Democratic analyst David Plouffe clashed over the death of four Americans in Benghazi on Sept. 11, 2012, Attkisson said she believes that a concerted effort is taking place to divert investigations into that deadly attack, an effort that is being orchestrated by people close to the White House. [See video below.]
“Well, the key words they use, such as ‘conspiracy’ and ‘delusional,’ are in my opinion clearly designed to try to controversialize a story -- a legitimate news story and a legitimate area of journalistic inquiry,” Attkisson asserted.

“To some degree, that's been successful,” she added, “but I think primarily among those who don't want to look at this as a story in the first place.”

Co-host Elisabeth Hasselbeck began the Fox News segment by welcoming Attkinsson to the program and noting that Ingraham took on Plouffe during the previous day's ABC program, “and she let him kinda have it.”

During the first clip, Plouffe charged: “This has been politicized like we've never seen before. Richard Nixon talked about a 'silent majority' back in 1968. There's a very loud, delusional minority that's driving our politics, that's in control of the Republican Party. There's no conspiracy here at all.”

Ingraham sharply disagreed, stating that an email sent by Ben Rhodes, a White House communication advisor, indicates that "from the beginning, the administration saw Benghazi as a political problem."

“The politicizing was going on at the White House,” she noted, “and that email was clear evidence of it.”
Taking a page from 24 hero Jack Bauer's playbook, Plouffe said:
This was happening in real time, As soon as information was identified, it was released. That’s why over the course of those weeks, we knew exactly what happened.

There was no politicalization. [Obama] in the Rose Garden talked about it as a terrorist attack. What is happening here, and it’s stoked by the talk radio personalities and Fox News, is an alternative reality.
“Oh, here’s the blame game,” Ingraham replied. “You’re masters of this. It’s Fox News’s fault.”

Also during Sunday's program, the radio show host stated:
We have four dead Americans. A U.S. ambassador’s body was dragged through the streets, okay? It was beyond heartbreaking and infuriating. No one in custody. Have an arrest warrant out. No one in custody. And in the immediate aftermath, the response was to go political.

If this were George Bush, [if he] would have done anything like this, you would be going nuts on it. You would be going ballistic.
“The only difference here is that the Bush administration did not put out a false narrative as situations,” added former U.S. senator Rick Santorum from Pennsylvania. “[The Obama administration] put out a narrative that was not supported by the evidence. … George Bush did not try to move the ball, to deflect it.”

Back on Monday, co-host Brian Kilmeade joined the conversation by stating:
It's interesting that in the past, when something [popped] up, that there was an ongoing investigation about Valerie Plame, for example, you had George Bush say 'I'm going to get a special prosecutor involved,' and he demanded everybody cooperate with the investigation.

Now you have someone, an administration that just puts up blocking signs everywhere you go and tries to go after those who are asking the questions.
He added that Attkisson is “hardly somebody who goes after conservative causes. You go after everybody. So you just are pursuing this story like anything else. How is the answer you're getting different from anything else?”

“I basically am trying to keep my nose to the grindstone,” Attkisson replied, “and if I were influenced by the left-wing blogs and people who are trying to steer the public in a certain way, I would be left covering pretty much nothing but the weather now.”

“I'm still continuing to do what I see as my job, but I can tell you that other investigative journalists have noticed the trend that you've mentioned,” she said.

“I was at a conference about a week and a half ago, and there were reporters, Pulitzer Prize winners from the New York Times and other publications, who were all raising red flags about what the Obama administration has done in terms of restrictions to press freedoms," Attkisson noted, and they were saying things like: 'We have to speak truth to power, and stand up and take action.'”
Let's hope that happens very soon.

Egypt: Brotherhood tries to disrupt presidential elections, so far 20 arrested

egyptian-christians-after-protestEgyptian state security have already “arrested 20 rioters belonging to the Muslim Brotherhood” in a number of cities and provinces for trying to disrupt the presidential electoral process hours after polls opened on the first day, including through banditry, as happened in the Sanuras province, or by threatening voters, as happened in the village of Dafnu.
In other areas, followers of the Muslim Brotherhood protested and rioted, holding pictures of former Brotherhood president Morsi.
Many in Egypt expect more such disruptions from the Brotherhood, including possible acts of terror.
Conversely, the military that ousted and imprisoned many key Brotherhood members, and which has since been targeted, is especially on guard for any potential attacks.
While some may say that the Brotherhood and its supporters are only engaging in such desperate acts because they feel they have been treated unjustly after the June 2013 revolution saw the ousting of Morsi, it should be noted that even before Morsi became president, back during the 2012 presidential elections, they also terrorized people into voting the “right” way.

Top Secret’ Documents Implicate Obamas, Clintons

Top Secret’ Documents Implicate Obamas, Clintons

By Walid Shoebat and Ben Barrack
Shocking documents (screen shots at bottom of this post) by Egyptian security forces monitoring the movements of Malik Obama’s Islamic Da’wa Organization (IDO) and the father (Essam el-Haddad) of a former Clinton employee (Gehad El-Haddad) sheds further light on the nefarious dealings of the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt. These documents could implicate the Obamas and the Clintons as being complicit in endangering national security.

Al-Masry Network also published the claims of intelligence sources showing that Malik Obama’s Organization is the main sponsor to Islamize the Nuba area, Aswan and Luxor. The Aswan region is a territory in southeastern Egypt that borders northern Sudan, which includes a long stretch of the Nile river. During the Mohammed Mursi regime, both Egypt and Sudan (under Omar al-Bashir) would have presented an opportunity to work toward the slow erasure of the border between the two nations. Such negotiations in Aswan would have predictably caused Egypt’s Security Forces great concern.

The younger Haddad, who worked as City Director for five years at the William J. Clinton Foundation, also worked with his father; both men were the closest of advisers to Mursi. Both Essam and Gehad were arrested late last year – after Mursi’s ouster – and had their assets frozen.

The Al-Masry report seems to indicate that Malik Obama’s role within the Sudanese branch of the IDO is much more significant than previously thought (translated):
“Authorities within Egypt’s security apparatus have warned over the past two and a half years of the movements of the Islamic Da’wa Organization (IDO), based in the Sudanese capital of Khartoum, headed by businessman Kenyan owner Aboonju Obama (Malik), the elder brother of U.S. President Barack Obama, according to security authorities who are privy to the details of the investigation. One official said the organization and its president, a close friend of the President of Sudan Omar al-Bashir, support the Muslim Brotherhood with money, as well as the international organization of the group…”
The article further reports that Malik has headed the IDO not only in Kenya but leads the organization headquartered in Khartoum and “overseen by Sudanese President Omar al-Bashir”. His role allegedly includes assisting and regulating the global Muslim Brotherhood agenda.
Haddad and Ali
One thing is clear; Essam and Gehad aren’t just close family members; they were close collaborators. Essam had another partner in crime as well. His name is Ayman Ali. Via El-Fagr (translated):
“Essam Haddad and Ayman Ali worked as former advisers to the president, Mohamed Morsi, and are in a high-security prison (Al-Aqrab) in Egypt. Both are charged with major espionage with foreign countries.”
Haddad and Ali
Haddad and Ali
Without reading too much between the lines, that “major espionage involving foreign countries” most likely includes “the Obama administration” when Hillary Clinton was the Secretary of State. Ali was heavily involved in a group identified by the U.S. as a terrorist entity in 2004 – Taibah, via el-Fagr (translated):
“Ayman Ali created cadres for the Muslim Brotherhood in the region through an organization called Taibah International in 2004… the U.S. government identified it as a terrorist organization for funding terrorist groups… Ayman is accused of transferring money from his account to a number of terrorist cells in various countries of the world. He settled in Austria until he was called to Egypt after the January 25, 2011 and was appointed adviser to Mursi.”
Mohammed Mursi with Essam el-Haddad.
Mohammed Mursi with Essam el-Haddad.
As for its record in funding terrorism, the el-Haddad family has the equivalent of a terrorist rap sheet, via Estkal (translated):
“Al-Haddad family worked with the International Islamic Relief Organizations.”
In August 2006, the Treasury Department also designated the Philippine and Indonesian branch offices of the MWL-founded IIRO as terrorist entities “for facilitating fundraising for al-Qaida and affiliated terrorist groups.”
Further evidence that Gehad is not just an innocent victim of circumstance has to do with the family he married into. His wife is the daughter of Dr. Mahmoud Abu Zeid, who is a leader within the Muslim Brotherhood Guidance Bureau. Gehad is also the nephew of Mohammed Ibrahim, who is a member of the leadership within the Guidance Bureau. This all adds up to mean that the longtime Clinton employee is one of the primary players within the Muslim Brotherhood regime.
The cooperation between Sudan’s terror state and the Muslim Brotherhood is corroborated by former Muslim Brotherhood leadership member and insider from 1985 – 2002, Tharwat El-Kherbawy, whom we wrote about earlier this month. El-Kherbawy’s assessment of the Muslim Brotherhood’s connection with Sudan comports with the intelligence reporting as well, via Al-Rakoba (translated):
“Kherbawi said that the Muslim Brotherhood in Sudan, led by the ruling al-Bashir of Sudan has turned to the Brotherhood’s interest and not the interest of Sudanese. He also revealed that Omar al-Bashir is a member of the International Organization of the Muslim Brotherhood.”
Tharwat El-Kherbawy: Muslim Brotherhood Insider's claims corroborate 'top secret' documents.
Tharwat El-Kherbawy: Muslim Brotherhood Insider’s claims corroborate ‘top secret’ documents.
One of the reasons for the meetings in Aswan may have had something to do with furthering the territorial goals of the Brotherhood, which would have caused nationalistic Egyptians great concern. Nubia is a region that is currently inside both Egypt and the Sudan. If the IDO was expressing interest in the annexation of all of Nubia, the border between the two countries would change, which could set the stage for dissolving it altogether. In essence, the dissolution of the Egypt / Sudan border could commence and would become a microcosm for what the Muslim Brotherhood wants to do globally.
This would implicate the Mursi regime in an extremely serious Muslim Brotherhood plot involving both a U.S. State Department-designated State Sponsor of Terrorism in Sudan and the former government of Egypt.
Taken further, all of this information helps to explain why Egypt’s Security Forces and new government – under General Abdel Fatah al-Sisi — has seemingly taken great interest in Malik Obama. Back in August, former Egyptian Constitutional Court Justice named Tahani al-Jebali publicly expressed great interest and concern about Malik’s role in the International Muslim Brotherhood. Not long after al-Jebali made those charges, a complaint was filed with Egypt’s Attorney General (No. 1761) that echoed said charges.
Lerner: Granted Malik Obama's foundation illegal tax exempt status.
Lerner: Granted Malik Obama’s foundation illegal tax exempt status.
In short, Malik Obama’s prominent role as Executive Director of the IDO, at minimum, implicates his brother in a serious conflict of interest matter relative to national security. That Malik was given illegal tax-exempt status by Lois Lerner may implicate his brother as an accessory to terror funding (this is why Lerner should be granted immunity for her testimony). So far, members of Congress who sit on such committees have shown no desire to do this. One such Congressman – Rep. Mike Kelly (R-PA) – has been well aware of the IRS scandal involving Malik Obama for several months and has called the charges “spot on”.
Yet, he remains silent today.
Essam el-Haddad’s negotiations with the IDO implicate the Clintons – through el-Haddad’s son – in a serious conflict of interest matter as well.
That all says nothing of Hillary’s very close relationship with Huma Abedin, whose mother and Mursi’s wife are high-ranking colleagues inside the Muslim Sisterhood’s leadership.

Rebel says 30 insurgents killed in eastern Ukraine

DONETSK, Ukraine (AP) — At least 30 bodies of killed fighters have been brought to a hospital following a day of heavy fighting in Donetsk in eastern Ukraine, in which government forces used combat jets against pro-Russia rebels, an insurgent said Tuesday.
The rebel fighter, who wouldn't give his name because of security concerns, said outside the hospital in Donetsk that 30 bodies of his fellow insurgents were delivered there. He said the truck carrying the bodies was still parked outside the hospital, waiting for explosives experts to check it for any unexploded ordnance.
Donetsk, a city of 1 million, was engulfed by heavy fighting Monday when rebels moved to seize the airport, Ukraine's second largest, and were repelled by government forces using combat jets and helicopter gunships. Associated Press journalists witnessed sustained intensive gun fire throughout the day and into the night. Plumes of black smoke rose in the air.
The battles came just as billionaire candy magnate Petro Poroshenko claimed victory in Sunday's presidential vote. Poroshenko, who is yet to be sworn in, has vowed to negotiate a peaceful end to an insurgency in the east, where rebels have seized government offices and fought Ukrainian troops for more than a month.
Officials closed Donetsk airport and police shut nearby streets for traffic amid the fighting. The city mayor went on television advising residents to stay at home.
Early Tuesday, a group of unidentified men stormed Donetsk's main ice-hockey arena, which was to host the 2015 world championships and set it ablaze, according to the mayor's office.
In the neighboring Luhansk region, the Ukrainian Border Guards Service said that its officers engaged in a gunbattle with a group of gunmen who were trying to break through the border from Russia. It said one intruder was wounded and the border guards seized several vehicles loaded with Kalashnikov assault rifles, rocket grenade launchers and explosives.
The interim government has pledged to press ahead with the operation against insurgents, which has angered local residents, many of whom see the authorities in Kiev as nationalists bent on repressing Russian speakers in the east.
Speaking at a televised government session on Tuesday, Vitaly Yarema, a deputy prime minister in the interim cabinet said the "anti-terrorist operation" in eastern Ukraine will go on "until all the militants are annihilated."
Poroshenko has described the separatists as "Somali pirates," saying that arms should be used against "killers and terrorists," but he also indicated that he wants a quick end to the military operation in the east.
"The anti-terrorist operation cannot and should not last two or three months," he said Monday. "It should and will last hours."
Poroshenko, known for his pragmatism, supports building strong ties with Europe but also has stressed the importance of mending relations with Moscow. Upon claiming victory, he said his first step as president would be to visit the east.
He said he hoped Russia would support his efforts to bring stability and that he wanted to hold talks with Moscow.
Russia welcomed his intention to engage in talks with people in the east and said it would be ready to work with Poroshenko.
Moscow has denied accusations by the Ukrainian interim government and the West that it has fomented the insurgency in the east. Russian President Vladimir Putin has stonewalled the insurgents' appeal to join Russia and welcomed the Ukrainian presidential election in an apparent bid to de-escalate tensions with the West, which has plunged to a post-Cold War low after Russia's annexation of Crimea.
Russia's Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said Monday that Moscow was ready for direct talks with Poroshenko and doesn't want the United States and the European Union as mediators.
But Ukraine's acting Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk said that Ukraine has no intention to talk to Russia directly. "Regarding the negotiations with the Russian Federation, the government's stance is unchanged: bilateral talks without the presence of the United States and the European Union do not seem possible under current conditions," he said.
Russia has kept pushing for Ukraine to decentralize its government, which would give more power to regions, including those in the east, and wants Kiev to withdraw its troops from the area.

White House staff tried to 'un-ring the bell' after revealing CIA chief's identity

• White House press office unaware it had circulated name
• Washington Post journalist sounded alert after filing report

The White House blew the cover of the top CIA agent in Afghanistan on Sunday, when the person’s name was included on a list given to reporters during a visit to the country by President Barack Obama.
The name was then emailed by the White House press office to a distribution list of more than 6,000 recipients, mostly members of the US media.
The agent in question, listed as chief of station, would be a top manager of CIA activity in Afghanistan, including intelligence collection and a drone-warfare programme under which unmanned aerial vehicles mount cross-border attacks into Pakistan.
The name appeared on a list of attendees requested by White House officials for the president’s visit to Bagram air base to mark Memorial Day, the national day of tribute to fallen service members. The list of 15 people was drawn up by the military, written into a routine press report and sent to Washington. The Obama press office then sent the list, unredacted, to the larger group.
The mistake did not come to light until the reporter who had filed from Afghanistan, the veteran Washington Post correspondent Scott Wilson, looked more closely at what he had sent and noticed the name and title.
“I drew it to their attention before they had noticed what had happened,” Wilson said on Monday, hours after returning from the 33-hour trip overseas.

“I asked the press official that was with us on the trip if they knew that the station chief had been identified in the list. That person said that they did not know that, but that because the list was provided by military, they assumed it was OK. By this time the list was out.

“Soon after, I think that they talked to their bosses, and realised that it was not OK. And they tried to figure out what to do about this, if there was a way to kind of un-ring the bell.”

The name was left off of a subsequent report filed from Bagram.

The White House declined to comment on Monday on the disclosure. It was unclear whether or how the disclosure would affect US intelligence operations in Afghanistan. An internet search for the name turned up no results.

It is extremely rare for a US intelligence operative to be outed by the US government. In 2003, someone inside the George W Bush administration exposed the identity of CIA operative Valerie Plame, a month after her husband, the diplomat Joe Wilson, had publicly questioned the administration’s case for the Iraq war. Lewis “Scooter” Libby, former chief of staff to then-vice-president Dick Cheney, was convicted of obstruction of justice and perjury in connection with the case.
Members of the CIA's operations arm, called the National Clandestine Service, are typically given cover identities to protect both them and sources they have recruited abroad. A station chief, who manages all CIA operations in a country, is often a senior officer whose true name is known to the host nation and other intelligence agencies. The term "station chief" is sensitive enough, however, that former officers usually are not allowed to use it in their resumés in connection with specific countries, even after their covers have been lifted.
Because the Afghanistan station chief is known to Afghan officials and lives in a heavily guarded compound, he may be able to continue in his job. In 2010 the CIA station chief in Pakistan, Jonathan Bank, was evacuated after local newspapers published his name in connection with a lawsuit, and he was threatened.
Wilson said time pressure, a high level of activity tied to the president’s visit and the relative inexperience of the military officers involved could have contributed to the mistake.

“My impression is these were very junior people trying to follow an order, that they don't fully understand or get the ramifications of,” he said.

“There were a number of misunderstandings and mistakes, including my own failure to review the list before including it in my email, in my pool report.

“I wish I had, I regret it.”
