Согласно имеющейся информации, в юго-восточные районы Украины, в том числе в Донецк, стягиваются подразделения внутренних войск и национальной гвардии Украины с участием боевиков незаконного вооруженного формирования «Правый сектор». Перед ними поставлена задача силового подавления протестов жителей Юго-Востока страны против политики нынешних киевских властей. Особую тревогу вызывает то обстоятельство, что к этой операции подключены около 150 американских специалистов из частной военной организации «Greystone», переодетых в форму бойцов подразделения «Сокол».
Организаторы и участники этой провокации берут на себя огромную ответственность за создание угроз для прав, свобод и жизни мирных граждан Украины и для стабильности украинского государства. Призываем немедленно прекратить любые военные приготовления, чреватые развязыванием гражданской войны.
Statement by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia according to the available information, in the South-Eastern regions of Ukraine, including Kyiv, pulled together with a unit of Interior troops and the National Guard of Ukraine with the participation of the rebels an illegal armed formation "right branch". The agency says it could not find an American company capable of making the high-tech steel plates it wants, but critics say the decision came down to cheaper labor.

The Metropolitan Transportation Authority outsourced a $235 million renovation project to China for work on the statuesque steel span — over the protests of hard-up American steelworkers who say they could do the job.
“It’s a kick in the teeth. There’s a lot of New Yorkers who would be thrilled to work on this project. It should be American made,” United Steelworkers’ Vice President Tom Conway said.
The union has reached out to New York’s AFL-CIO to mobilize support among other labor organizations, the Daily News has learned.
“Our state has lost nearly half its manufacturing capacity in the past 20 years,” AFL-CIO head Mario Cilento said in a letter sent July 1 to its executive council.
“Irresponsible actions by public agencies like the MTA will only make things worse,” Cilento wrote, asking members to “stand by” as they prepare to fight the MTA’s outsourced contract.

According to the MTA, there’s not a steel plant in America that can produce the type of high-tech steel plate it wants — known as orthotropic design.
“(The agency) worked diligently to find an American steel manufacturer with the capability, experience and desire to fabricate the steel bridge deck ... the MTA could not find an American fabricator,” the agency said in a statement defending its decision.
Orthotropic design is rarely used in America because the bulk of U.S. bridges were built before the technology existed.
The MTA hopes to extend the Verrazano’s lifespan by replacing its heavy concrete upper deck with lighter, stiffer orthotropic plates. Similar work was done two years ago on another U.S. span, the San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge.
The Verrazano, a double-decked suspension bridge — which opened in 1969 after 10 years of construction — was built by American steel and iron workers, Conway noted.

“We were good enough then, but now all that work will go to China, to a government-owned company,” the union veep said.
“Maybe we’ll get some work tying up the barges” that haul the steel from China, he added bitterly.
The MTA said it will have strict quality-control tests to make sure the Chinese steel meets U.S. safety guidelines and requirements. Production has already started, the agency said.
Once the finished Chinese-made steel plates are shipped back, American workers will reassemble the Verrazano’s upper deck.
“We are very skeptical about their claim they can’t find an American plant to make these plates. We found two in Pennsylvania — 100 miles from the bridge — that bid on the project and wanted to do it,” said Conway.

Clark County Commissioner Tom Collins has caused outrage by remarking that Utahns planning to travel to Nevada to support Cliven Bundy in his standoff against the feds “better have funeral plans”.

The comments were revealed by Darin Bushman, a Piute County, Utah, commissioner after he spoke with Collins about Utah ranchers and his colleagues on the County Commission complaining about tactics used by Bureau of Land Management agents during their seizure of Bundy’s cattle in southern Nevada.
“I was just told by commissioner Collins of Clark County NV that all of us folks from Utah are a bunch of “inbred bastards” and if we are coming to Clark County NV to support Cliven Bundy we all “better have funeral plans”. We should “turn our asses around on mind our own f-ing business”. Now there’s some classy leadership for you,” wrote Bushman on his official Facebook page.
After the story was picked up by the Las Vegas Review Journal, Bushman responded to the controversy by posting on Facebook, “I guess I’ve made an enemy in Las Vegas.” The commissioner also lambasted Clark County Sheriff Douglas Gillespie as being, “too spineless to exercise his Jurisdiction”. Earlier this week, Cliven Bundy called on Sheriff Gillespie to start arresting BLM feds on charges of trespassing and theft.
Collins’ remarks were made in the context of him fearing that protests against the BLM could turn violent, which is ironic given that the only person invoking direct violence is Collins himself.
“I’m trying to do everything I can to discourage anybody who tells me they’re coming here with loaded guns,” Collins said. “I’m going to tell them not to come,” adding, “The Bundys want peace, they don’t want any violence going on so all these gun-packing folks just need to go home.”
Clark County commissioners will hold a meeting next week to discuss issues of decorum in response to Collins’ comments. It is unclear whether or not any action will be taken against him.
Bushman questioned Collins’ sanity in light of his offensive comments.
“This guy was just off-the-hook weird,” he said. “I’ve never ran into a fellow commissioner who treated me like that.”

News that is surprising only in that it took this long:
Kathleen Sebelius, who oversaw the bug-ridden rollout of a federal health insurance program that she herself called “miserably frustrating,” is resigning as secretary of Health and Human Service… Sebelius told Obama of her intentions in early March, a White House official said.
Man . . . everything this woman does gets delayed.
This is actually long past the point of having much consequence. The news is clear that Sebelius is resigning, not that she’s being fired, and there’s not even much sense that the president wanted this or thought it was an appropriate consequence for how Obamacare’s rollout proceeded on her watch.
“The White House official said that President Obama was ‘deeply grateful’ for Sebelius’ service.”  Why? What would she have to do for him to not be grateful for her service?
The example has already been set. A month ago I wrote about the dysfunctional federal bureaucracy and noted, “The managers of the worst offenders rarely if ever are held accountable, and, as we’ve seen, apparently no scandal is sufficient to warrant firing a cabinet secretary. If Sebelius escaped consequence for failure, why should anyone below her worry, or anyone in any other branch of the federal bureaucracy?”
And of course, she had to offer at least one more lie on the way out the door:
On March 31, Sebelius joined HuffPost Live’s Alyona Minkovski to discuss the Affordable Care Act sign-up deadline. When asked if she would still be part of the Obamacare effort in November, Sebelius said she “absolutely” would.
When prompted a second time to confirm her intention to remain with the administration, Sebelius declared, “I’m in.”
A lot of people chuckled over Ezra Klein’s declaration, “Kathleen Sebelius is resigning because Obamacare has won.”
How many people will call 96 doctor’s offices and find they’re not taking new patients or they’re not accepting the insurance plan they purchased through the exchange?
A gentle reminder: health insurance does not become health care until you can find a doctor to treat you.
Nearly 20 percent of Americans live in areas with an insufficient number of primary care doctors. Sixteen percent live in areas with too few dentists and a whopping 30 percent are in areas that are short of mental health providers. Under federal guidelines, there should be no more than 3,500 people for each primary care provider; no more than 5,000 people for each dental provider; and no more than 30,000 people for each mental health provider.
According to the Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC), unless something changes rapidly, there will be a shortage of 45,000 primary care doctors in the United States (as well as a shortfall of 46,000 specialists) by 2020. 
In some ways, the shortage of providers is worse than the numbers indicate. Many primary care doctors and dentists do not accept Medicaid patients because of low reimbursement rates, and many of the newly insured will be covered through Medicaid. Many psychiatrists refuse to accept insurance at all.
Does Obamacare still “win” if you get an insurance plan and you get a doctor? Because you sure as heck don’t!

ATF is deploying its resources strategically on the Southwest Border to deny firearms, the “tools of the trade,” to criminal organizations in Mexico and along the border, and to combat firearms-related violence affecting communities on both sides of the border. In partnership with other U.S. agencies and with the Government of Mexico, ATF refined its Southwest Border strategy. ATF developed Project Gunrunner to stem the flow of firearms into Mexico and thereby deprive the narcotics cartels of weapons. The initiative seeks to focus ATF’s investigative, intelligence and training resources to suppress the firearms trafficking to Mexico and stem the firearms-related violence on both sides of the border.
Firearms tracing, in particular the expansion of the eTrace firearms tracing system, is a critical component of Project Gunrunner in Mexico. ATF recently deployed eTrace technology in U.S. consulates in Monterrey, Hermosillo and Guadalajara, with six additional deployments to the remaining U.S. consulates in Mexico scheduled by March 2008. ATF has conducted discussions with the government of Mexico regarding the decentralization of the firearms tracing process to deploy Spanish-language eTrace to other Mexico agencies.
In the past two years, ATF has seized thousands of firearms headed to Mexico. Trends indicate the firearms illegally crossing the U.S.-Mexico border are becoming more powerful. ATF has analyzed firearms seizures in Mexico from FY 2005-07 and identified the following weapons most commonly used by drug traffickers:
· 9mm pistols;
· .38 Super pistols;
· 5.7mm pistols;
· .45-caliber pistols;
· AR-15 type rifles; and
· AK-47 type rifles.

Most of the firearms violence in Mexico is perpetrated by drug trafficking organizations (DTOs) who are vying for control of drug trafficking routes to the United States and engaging in turf battles for disputed distribution territories. Hundreds of Mexican citizens and law enforcement personnel have become casualties of the firearms-related violence. DTOs operating in Mexico rely on firearms suppliers to enforce and maintain their illicit narcotics operations. Intelligence indicates these criminal organizations have tasked their money laundering, distribution and transportation infrastructures reaching into the United States to acquire firearms and ammunition. These Mexican DTO infrastructures have become the leading gun trafficking organizations operating in the southwest U.S.
ATF has dedicated approximately 100 special agents and 25 industry operations investigators to the SWB initiative over the past two years. ATF has recently assigned special agents to Las Cruces, N.M., and Yuma, Ariz. These assignments are part of a broad plan to increase the strategic coverage and disrupt the firearms trafficking corridors operating along the border.

Special agents have been deployed to Monterrey to support the work of the attachés in the ATF Mexico Office and assist Mexican authorities in their fight against firearms related violence. Three additional ATF intelligence research specialists and one investigative analyst are planned for the El Paso Intelligence Center (EPIC) to support Project Gunrunner, along with one intelligence research specialist in each of the four field divisions on the southwest border (Phoenix, Dallas, Houston and Los Angeles).
Firearm tracing intelligence is critical because it allows ATF and its partners to identify trafficking corridors, patterns and schemes as well as traffickers and their accomplices. Firearms tracing helps identify firearms straw purchasers, the traffickers, trafficking networks and patterns, thus allowing law enforcement to target and dismantle the infrastructure supplying firearms to the DTOs in Mexico.
ATF conducts firearms seminars with federal firearms licensees, commonly referred to as licensed gun dealers, to educate the firearms industry on straw purchasers and gun trafficking. More than 3,700 industry members attended outreach events in SWB divisions in FY 2007.

Final Defendant Sentenced in Drug and Money Laundering Conspiracy Case

United States Attorney Brendan V. Johnson announced that a Sioux Falls, South Dakota, woman convicted of Conspiracy to Distribute a Controlled Substance and Conspiracy to Commit Money Laundering was sentenced on March 31, 2014, by U.S. District Judge Karen E. Schreier.
Thiphavanh Noy Khaleck, age 29, was sentenced to 60 months in custody on the marijuana distribution conspiracy, and 70 months in custody on the money laundering conspiracy, to be served concurrently, followed by 3 years of supervised release. She pled guilty to the offenses on October 7, 2013.
Khaleck was indicted with five others by a federal grand jury on April 2, 2013. Others indicted were: Thongsay Chantharath, age 41, of Worthington, Minnesota; Jimmy Thithavong, age 28, of Worthington; Jon Charles Batcheller, age 25, of Sioux Falls; Kenneth Louis Stanley, age 54, of Worthington; and David Soukthavong, age 27, of Sioux Falls. These five defendants were all sentenced in 2013.
Chantharath, Thithavong, Batcheller, and Stanley were all charged with conspiracy to distribute 500 grams or more of methamphetamine; Batcheller, Khaleck, and Soukthavong were all charged with conspiracy to distribute marijuana; and Batcheller and Khaleck were both charged with conspiracy to commit money laundering.
Chantharath pled guilty to the methamphetamine conspiracy on August 19, 2013, and was sentenced on November 12, 2013, to 240 months in custody, followed by 10 years of supervised release.
Thithavong pled guilty to the methamphetamine conspiracy on July 19, 2013, and was sentenced on October 8, 2013, to 120 months in custody, followed by 5 years of supervised release.
Batcheller pled guilty to the methamphetamine and money laundering conspiracies on July 10, 2013, and was sentenced on October 8, 2013, to 151 months on each count, to be served concurrently, followed by 5 years of supervised release.
Stanley pled guilty to the methamphetamine conspiracy on July 8, 2013, and was sentenced on September 23, 2013, to 97 months in custody, followed by 3 years of supervised release.
Soukthavong pled guilty to the marijuana conspiracy on October 8, 2013, and was sentenced on December 30, 2013, to 30 months in custody, followed by 2 years of supervised release.
At different times during the 2009-2012 timeframe, the parties conspired together to distribute methamphetamine and marijuana. Some members made trips to California and Minnesota to purchase the drugs, and they and other members distributed them in the Sioux Falls area. Additionally, Batcheller and Khaleck conspired to commit money laundering by keeping the deposits and
withdrawals of cash drug proceeds below $10,000, in an effort to avoid bank reporting requirements.
This case was investigated by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms & Explosives, and the Internal Revenue Service – Criminal Investigations. Assistant U.S. Attorney John E. Haak prosecuted the case.
