NRA: UN Arms Treaty Could Force U.S Gun Owners On International Registry

NRA: UN Arms Treaty Could Force U.S Gun Owners On International Registry

Mar 18, 2013 3 Comments Jake Hammer Excerpted from WASHINGTON POST:
The National Rifle Association, which is battling a raft of gun control measures on Capitol Hill, also has an international fight on its hand as it gears up to oppose a U.N. treaty designed to restrict the flow of arms to conflict zones.
Negotiations open Monday in New York on the Arms Trade Treaty, which would require countries to determine whether weapons they sell would be used to commit serious human rights violations, terrorism or transnational organized crime.
The gun lobby fears that the treaty would be used to regulate civilian weapons. Human rights activists counter that it would reduce the trafficking of weapons, including small arms such as the ubiquitous AK-47 assault rifle, to outlaw regimes and rebel groups engaged in atrocities against civilian populations.
“This treaty is a common-sense alignment of the interests of governments, law-abiding citizens and individuals all over the world, who deserve the right to live free from harm,” said Michelle A. Ringuette, chief of campaigns and programs at Amnesty International USA. “Any step toward restraining the illicit sale and transfer of weapons used to commit horrific crimes is a good move forward, and the world could use a lot more steps in the direction of ending human rights abuses.”
The Obama administration, which has wavered on the treaty, signaled Friday that it was willing to support the accord. “The United States is steadfast in its commitment to achieve a strong and effective Arms Trade Treaty that helps address the adverse effects of the international arms trade on global peace and stability,” Secretary of State John F. Kerry said in a statement. “We will not support any treaty that would be inconsistent with U.S. law and the rights of American citizens under our Constitution, including the Second Amendment.”
The NRA is among the treaty’s most vocal opponents and a founder of the World Forum on Shooting Activities, an international coalition of gun rights activists and gun manufacturers who plan to speak against the treaty.
“What we really object to is the inclusion of civilian firearms within the scope of the ATT,” said Tom Mason, the group’s executive secretary and a lawyer who has represented the NRA at U.N. meetings for nearly two decades. “This is a treaty that really needs to address the transfer of large numbers of military weapons that leads to human rights abuses. We have submitted language that you can define what a civilian firearm is.”
The NRA also argues that the treaty could infringe on gun rights as understood in the United States and could force Americans onto an international registry.
Activists say the NRA wants to gut the treaty. “The NRA claim that there is such a thing as ‘civilian weapons’ and that these can and need to be treated differently from military weapons under the Arms Trade Treaty is — to put it politely — the gun lobby’s creativity on full display,” Ringuette said in a statement. “There is no such distinction. To try to create one would create a loophole that would render the treaty inoperative, as anyone could claim that he or she was in the business of trading ‘civilian weapons.’?”

This undersea eruption created a new Island off the coast of Tonga in March of 2012.
Spectacular columns are spewing out of the sea about 6 miles (from the southwest coast off the main island of Tongatapu - an area where up to 36 undersea volcanoes are clustered, geologists said.

Trade winds are blowing gas and steam. Tonga, a 170-island archipelago between Australia and Tahiti, is part of the Pacific "ring of fire" - an arc of earthquake and volcanic zones stretching from Chile in South America through Alaska and down through Vanuatu to Tonga. Scientists sailed  to inspect an undersea volcano that has been erupting for days near Tonga — shooting smoke, steam and ash thousands of feet into the sky above the South Pacific ocean.

Tonga is made up of 169 islands, 39 of which are inhabited, sprinkled over the Pacific Ocean about one-third of the way from New Zealand to Hawaii.  Coastal residents said the steam and ash column first appeared  after a series of sharp earthquakes were felt in the capital, Nuku'alofa.

Volcanic activity in the sea off the Canary island of El Hierro is seen in this areal photo taken and released by the Canary Islands Government on Friday Nov. 4, 2011. The regional government of the Canary Islands on Saturday Nov. 5, 2011has ordered the evacuation of homes and road closures near the southern tip of El Hierro after two earth tremors and increased offshore volcanic activity caused a buildup of malodorous debris floating on the sea.Seismic activity began in the area on July 17 and residents have since been rocked by more than 10,000 tremors, while underwater fissures have released an almost continuous flow of sulfurous gases, smoke and hot objects.El Hierro has some 11,000 residents and was formed by volcanic activity

An eruption of an underwater volcano is seen in the Pacific Ocean near the uninhabited Minami Iwojima Island, about 1,400km (870 miles) south of Tokyo July 3, 2005. The Japanese Coast Guard sent a plane to investigate the approximately 1,000-metres (3,280-ft) column of steam after it was spotted on Saturday by a member of Japan's armed forces stationed on the island of Iwojima

In this photo taken and released by the Canary regional government on Saturday Oct. 15, 2011, fragments called pyroclasts from an underwater volcano are seen on the surface of the sea off Restinga on the Canary island of El Hierro, Spain. The regional government of Spain's Canary Islands has closed access to a port on El Hierro, ordered shipping to sail away from the area and banned aircraft from flying over the island's southern tip after an underwater volcano began spewing smoking debris. Scientists have detected airborne volcanic fragments called pyroclasts rising from the sea off the port of La Restinga, the government said in a statement. A research vessel that had been taking samples from the sea has been ordered to desist.

The Hollow Earth -Heaven or Hell?

Our common conception is that Heaven is out there somewhere in the sky or in space, while Hell is underneath us, deep underground or at the planet's center. This would be accurate if the planet had a wholly solid interior, but it does not. Our planet is a hollow shell and at its center is a luminous sun or anomaly. It is engineered wisely and economically so that both the outer convex surface and the inner concave surface can be inhabited. This is possible when it is realized that the planet's gravity is in the middle of it's shell, and not its center. Polar openings connect the two surfaces in an unbroken fashion, and two suns, one outer and one inner, illuminate and warm both areas. Air and water flow also circulate unbroken from inner to outer and vice versa with the ice caps acting as a filtering system.

Not only are the inner and outer surfaces of our hollow planet inhabited, but the shell is as well. The Earth's shell, which varies from 400 to 800 miles in thickness, is made up of several layers or stratas, much like an apartment complex, wherein live many civilizations and eco-systems. The shell is also honeycombed throughout with tunnels and cavern systems both natural and man-made. The caverns contain cities or communities, human and non-human alike, and are interlinked by high-speed shuttles or trains which run magnetically through the tunnels, much like our modern subway systems. Many of these transport systems reach both the outer and inner Earth surfaces, where trade and buisness is conducted, but only priveleged or high-level functionaries have access to these ports.

All major outer Earth cities are linked to inner or Middle Earth sub-cities via secret tunnels, ports, shafts, elevators, and other passageways, where dignitaries and officials conduct commerce or exchange imformation. Most of our technology comes from the inner earth. In the last few hundred years, inner earth societies have groomed the outer earth into its present modernized state. The goal is the eventual full integration of the inner and outer earth worlds into one world government or society. Whether this is for good or bad remains to be seen. One of the great challenges confronting us is the safe integration of clean technologies in an otherwise fully organic world. Many believe that technology is a crutch or the work of the devil, and that the human organism has potentials that can outsurpass any technology.

Is the inner earth good or evil? The same question can be asked of outer earth. It appears that the first two to three hundred miles both beneath and above sea level is a region of predominant negativity. For thousands of years now, this outer world of ours has been dominated by war and chaos instigated largely by forces that are anti-human. There are two basic forces or spirits in our universe whose embodiments are reflected in the mammalian and reptillian species, and they have always been at odds with one another. Both have claims to this part of the universe and Earth in particular. In the last great battle between these two forces the reptillian or luciferian forces were defeated and driven underground, where they now await judgement. These fallen angels, who have lost their original human bodies and taken on reptillian ones continue to impede and frustrate humanity despite their restraints. Were they to be fully loosed, humanity would be instantly destroyed. Instead they must use human leaders and technology to do their dirty work.

True Christianity in the first few centuries AD was one of the greatest resistance movements against the satanic or luciferian forces that seek to destroy humanity and make Earth their home. Apollonius of Tyana, also known as "Paul" was the true Jesus or Christ of the New Testament. His works and writings have been largely destroyed or changed by Roman emperor Constantine and his advisors to formulate our present Christianity which invented Jesus and a hellfire and eternal damnation. Christ comes from the word Krishna. The Bible is a rehash of even more ancient manuscripts originating in India and the Orient. Over the centuries, true christianity has also gone underground recruiting special individuals who have overcome sin and death and who will become part of the 144,000 leaders in the new heaven and earth. They are from all races and nations and are now busy battling the dark forces in a struggle to reclaim this planet from the inside out.

World Wars I and II were the outer manifestartions of the gigantic battle going on inside the planet for its repossession. We are in a lull right now, as both opposing forces regroup for an all out final assault(Armageddon) on one another. According to one American lama in Tibet, the ruler of the Satanic forces, Sanat Kumara, or "King of the World" was deposed from his inner Earth throne in 1948, and his demons with him, so that most of the inner Earth is now under superhuman rule. It is outer earth, or the few hundred miles beneath or above sea level, to where the vanquished demons have fled that remains to be cleaned up. The planet Pluto, discovered in 1930, and representing the dark coming to light, is a heavenly signal or warning that the planet is undergoing an inner and eventually outer cleansing. Our planet and all life on it are dying, but we are also on the verge of being reborn.

A new home or planet will be found for the negative forces that have plagued and polluted our planet for so long, and then finally this planet will come into its own and enjoy a much needed golden age or millennium of rest and peace and abundance.

THE BOOK OF ENOCH

The Book of Enoch, which predates the New Testament and which was excluded from the bible at the Council of Nicaea in 325 AD, is a treasure house of knowledge and wisdom concerning the hollow earth.
In section I of the book, chapters 17 to 36, Enoch, beloved scribe of God, is granted the unique privelege of observing and recording the secrets of the inner earth and heaven(central sun).
He saw that the inner earth contained both heavenly and hellish regions,
and that ANY place can become a heaven or a hell depending on the spirits who inhabit it.
While the book was popular and widely read in the first few centuries AD, it was later banned or suppressed by the new counterfeit Christianity, which obviously saw it as too revealing, and counterproductive to its purposes.

Alarming Footage: Who Is Really Using Chemical Weapons in Syria?

In December of last year we revealed that the rebels had in their hands potent chemical weapons and were testing them on rabbits, scand we predicted that they will use them on innocents.
Well now it is happening.

And now, new evidence translated from Arabic sources reveals the likelihood that it was the Muslim rebels (FSA) and not the Assad regime that carried out a chemical attack on the town of Khan al-Assal, west of Aleppo.
We have captured clips that were never translated (until now) showing rebels revealing heavy arsenals including weapons of mass destruction that contain chemical agents.
Russia says that it was the FSA that carried out the massacre while the White House says that there is no evidence that the rebels are responsible.
In the Arab circles, the blaming goes back and forth.
The Syrian government blames the FSA and vise versa.
So who do we believe?
Even if we examine the sources in Arabic we find that the reporting on this story is usually done by masters of confusion.
For example, how can an FSA reporter film an exploded chemical rocket at a close distance and remain alive?
But if we examine the videos during all the clashes between the FSA and the Syrian military we find much evidence from footage never seen in the West (until now) showing that weapons cache of scuds, tanks, Sam-7 rockets and even weapons of mass destruction (chemical as well as biological) are falling into the hands of FSA rebels.
In one video that we found, the Syrian rebels, after taking an airbase, show the substantial amount of scud missiles now in their hands:
And just when you think that these rebels are too primitive to figure out how to fire these missiles, here is a video of them actually launching one:
The chemical attack in Khan al-Assal is said to have been done by Assad, but as people are swayed to believing the jihadist rebels, we have first hand testimony from just one of the multitude of victims of this tragedy:
Also, there are some important facts that we have to take into perspective.
The assault happened in the town of Khan al-Assal, a predominately Shiite town. The Syrian revolution is a Sunni movement, and one of its main goals is to remove the Shiite Assad regime. The town has also been a common victimof attacks by Al-Qaeda, a Sunni organization. This is thus an indication that the attack was conducted by Sunnis, and not the government which is Shiite.
Moreover, neither the rebels nor the government denies that amongst the victims were military personal. In fact, it is said that out of the 26 dead 16 were Syrian soldiers.
Why would a Shiite government orchestrate a terrorist attack on its own soldiers especially in a Shiite town?
Assad is very loyal to his own sect–the Alawites–which is a part of Shia Islam, and they in turn are loyal to him. This allegiance is so strong that, according to Middle East expert Walid Phares, if Assad ever escaped from the rebels and hid in the northwestern part of Syria, where most of the Alawites live, and his enemies came to attack there, he would use chemical weapons “to defend his own community.”
Khan al-Assal, the place of the attack, is in the northwestern part of Syria, to where Assad would flee, and the region that he would be willing to defend.
Furthermore, a medic at the local civilian hospital said that he personally saw soldiers attending to the wounded at the scene of the attack.
Another factor that deserves attention is that the device used for the attack was not advanced; both American and independent weapons analysts confirm this. If the Assad regime had done last week’s incursion, then it would have utilized something of a more sophisticated arsenal.
Also, if the government was behind this, the attack would have killed more than just 26 people, since Syria is said to own the largest chemical arsenal in the region.
It is reported that the syrian military believes that the assault was done by launching into the town a home-made rocket containing CL17, a type of chlorine that can be found at your local swimming pool.
Though this was a small attack, chlorine can be used to implement very significant destruction on human populations. According to Benjamin Brodsky, writing for the Monterey Institute of International Studies:
The worst industrial accident in history is illustrative: 40 metric tons of methyl isocyanate was released from a Union Carbide pesticide plant in Bhopal, India, on December 3, 1984. The resulting plume killed at least 3,000 people downwind and injured more than 100,000. A sufficiently large release of elemental chlorine may be capable of exacting a comparable toll, particularly if it were to be discharged in a highly populated civilian area.
Another point is that if Assad was indeed the attacker in this scenario, then the media would be making full scale reports affirming that he is the perpetuator. The White House would be confirming it, the U.N. would be confirming it–but they are not.
It makes no sense that Assad would all of a sudden order such a strike in the first place, since he is worried about the repercussion of negative international responses. Walid Phares has made this point:
He is going to try not to use it [the chemical weapons] as much as as he can because he knows the international reaction is going to be very tough.
But, all of these facts have not stopped John Mccain and Lindsay Graham from calling for U.S. intervention and the granting of weapons to the jihadists. In a recent joint statement, the two Republican senators wrote:
We are extremely disturbed by reports that chemical weapons have been used today in Syria. President Obama has said that the use of weapons of mass destruction by Bashar Assad is a ‘red line’ for him that ‘will have consequences.’ If today’s reports are substantiated, the President’s red line has been crossed, and we would urge him to take immediate action to impose the consequences he has promised. That should include the provision of arms to vetted Syrian opposition groups, targeted strikes against Assad’s aircraft and SCUD missile batteries on the ground, and the establishment of safe zones inside Syria to protect civilians and opposition groups. If today’s reports are substantiated, the tragic irony will be that these are the exact same actions that could have prevented the use of weapons of mass destruction in Syria.
The facts do not stop Republican Mike Rogers from affirming that it is a “high probability” that Assad used chemical weapons, as can be found in a recent interview:
America is in, to a degree, intervening in the Syrian situation.
One diplomatic source has stated
Scores of U.S. military advisers in Jordan are training the rebels in
It has also been said that that training and weapons has been financed by Saudi Arabia and Qatar, and that the goal of the U.S. and NATO is to make the rebels into a formidable fighting force “capable of countering the Syrian Army.”
Our primary concern should be that one day our own nation will work with NATO to militarily strike the Assad regime and allow the revolutionaries to prevail. Such an act will not only enable Islamic fundamentalism to further expand, but empower Turkey to commence its much aspired empire–that is–a revived Ottoman empire.
Theodore Shoebat and Walid Shoebat are the authors of the book, For God or For Tyranny.

California gun confiscation
“When a homeowner is confronted with nine armed agents wearing bullet proof vests, I’ll wager it doesn’t take a lot of talking [to gain entry].” Photo credit Bloomberg.com.
California gun laws allow agents to seize weapons with neither probable cause nor due process, and illustrate a sobering, even chilling assessment Ann Coulter made on The Sean Hannity Show in early February. “Universal background checks means universal registration,” she said. “Universal registration means universal confiscation, universal extermination. That’s how it goes in history.” She was right.
Any owner in California of a registered firearm who is later convicted of a felony, has a mental health issue or is subject to a domestic violence restraining order, will have his Second Amendment rights revoked.
This sounds pretty reasonable on its face. I probably join most people in saying I don’t want felons, mental incompetents or those who beat their spouses to possess a firearm.
California Attorney General Kamala Harris urged Vice President Joe Biden to adopt a similar provision nationally.
“What do we do about the guns that are already in the hands of persons who, by law, are considered too dangerous to possess them?” she wrote to Biden, according to Bloomberg.com.
As reported by the Law Center to Prevent Gun Violence, any disqualified gun owner:
must immediately designate a third party who is not prohibited from possessing firearms by completing a Power of Attorney Declaration. The third party then has 30 days to properly transfer or dispose of any firearms possessed by the prohibited person. The third party may relinquish the firearms to a local law enforcement agency, sell or transfer them to a third party through a licensed firearms dealer, or sell them to a dealer.”
If the disqualified owner wasn’t properly notified, ignores or doesn’t understand the notice, the firearm is confiscated. The Bloomberg article described a typical gun confiscation:
Wearing bulletproof vests and carrying 40-caliber Glock pistols, nine California Justice Department agents assembled outside a ranch-style house in a suburb east of Los Angeles. They were looking for a gun owner who’d recently spent two days in a mental hospital.
They knocked on the door and asked to come in. About 45 minutes later, they came away peacefully with three firearms.
Let’s take a look at the criteria California uses to confiscate a firearm:
Felony Conviction: What if the person is convicted of a white-collar crime like embezzlement? What about other non-violent crimes? Such a person isn’t so much showing a propensity toward violence as he is a desire to get something that doesn’t belong to him without the messiness of physically harming others.
Mental Disease or Defect: What if the gun owner is suffering a bout of depression due to the loss of a loved one or a career or a financial setback? Do we remove his firearm on that basis? The California law makes no provision for voluntary treatment.
Domestic Restraining Order: I know this will surprise a lot of readers, but people going through a divorce will sometimes lie — in fact, they’ll often lie, to their lawyer, to the judge, even to themselves.
The Justice Department agents lack probable cause for a search warrant to enter a residence and confiscate a weapon — they have to talk their way in, according to the Bloomberg article. When a homeowner is confronted with nine armed agents wearing bulletproof vests, I’ll wager it doesn’t take a lot of talking.
Coulter was right in her assessment — and if this insanity were to spread across the nation, we have every right to be afraid.

Muslim Persecution of Christians: January, 2013

Muslim Persecution of Christians: January, 2013

Egypt: A court sentenced an entire family – Nadia Mohamed Ali and her seven children – to fifteen years in prison for converting to rightsidenews 301Christianity.

The year 2013 began with reports indicating that wherever Christians live side by side with large numbers of Muslims, the Christians are under attack. As one report said, "Africa, where Christianity spread fastest during the past century, now is the region where oppression of Christians is spreading fastest." Whether in Kenya, Nigeria, Mali, Somalia, Sudan, or Tanzania—attacks on Christians are as frequent as they are graphic.
As for the Middle East, the cradle of Christianity, a new study by the Pew Forum finds that "just 0.6 percent of the world's 2.2 billion Christians now live in the Middle East and North Africa. Christians make up only 4% of the region's inhabitants, drastically down from 20% a century ago, and marking the smallest regional Christian minority in the world. Fully 93% of the region is Muslim and 1.6% is Jewish."
How Christianity has been all but eradicated from the region where it was born is made clear in yet another report on the Middle East's largest Christian minority, Egypt's Christian Copts. Due to a "climate of fear and uncertainty,"Christian families are leaving Egypt in large numbers. Along with regular church attacks, the situation has gotten to the point that, according to one Coptic priest, "Salafis meet Christian girls in the street and order them to cover their hair. Sometimes they hit them when they refuse." Another congregation leader said "With the new [Sharia-heavy] constitution, the new laws that are expected, and the majority in parliament I don't believe we can be treated on an equal basis."
Elsewhere, Christians are not allowed to flee. In eastern Syria, for example, 25,000 Christians, including Syriac Orthodox, Syriac Catholics, Chaldeans and Armenians, were prevented from fleeing due to a number of roadblocks set up by armed Islamic militia groups, who deliberately target Christians for robbery and kidnapping-for-ransom—then often slaughtering their victims.
Categorized by theme, January's batch of Muslim persecution of Christians around the world includes (but is not limited to) the following accounts, listed by theme and in country alphabetical order, not necessarily according to severity:

Church Attacks

Egypt: Reminiscent of the 2011 New Year's Eve church bombing in Alexandria, which left over 23 Christians dead, a car packed with explosives was discovered by a Coptic church celebrating Christmas [which is in January] and was neutralized before it could detonate. As patrols seized the explosives-packed car, another car with masked men in it sped away. Separately, hundreds of Muslims chanting Islamic slogans in the village of Fanous destroyed a social services building belonging to a Coptic Church. Security forces arrived only after the building had been completely destroyed. According to the AINA report, the social services building "had all the necessary government permits; it had a reception hall on the first floor and a kindergarten on the second. But the Muslims insisted that it would become a church. Mosques in surrounding areas had earlier called on Muslims, through their megaphones, to go and help their Muslim brethren in Fanous, because Christians were "building a church." Hundreds of other Muslim protesters rioted outside yet another church in Upper Egypt; on claims that a Christian man had sexually assaulted a 6-year-old girl, they threw stones at the building. Four stores owned by Copts were torched. Police are investigating the accusations against the merchant.
Nigeria: A total of 30 Christians were slaughtered in two separate attacks carried out by armed men ahead of the New Year, in the Muslim-majority north: on Sunday December 30, 15 people were killed when armed jihadis stormed a church and opened fire on worshippers. The night before, Muslim terrorists broke into targeted homes and slaughtered 15 other Christians in their sleep. "The victims were selected because they were all Christians, some of whom had moved into the neighbourhood from other parts of the city hit by Boko Haram attacks," said a relief worker. Meanwhile, Nigerian president Jonathan revealed that Boko Haram has enablers even within his own government: "The saboteurs in government condoning terrorism by Boko Haram, you do not love this nation," he said. "Those of you who leak secrets to Boko Haram do not love this nation."
Pakistan: On Christmas day, "when Christian worshipers were coming out of different Churches after performing Christmas prayers, more than one hundred Muslim extremists equipped with automatic rifles, pistols and sticks attacked the Christian women, children and men," according to a Pakistan Christian Post report. Several were shot or beaten relentlessly. Much of this appears to have been exacerbated by a fatwa, or an Islamic edict, that came out right before Christmas, saying that, "Christmas cannot be celebrated by Muslims because it is against the concept of monotheism in Islam." Due to the subsequent chaos, Christians "were under siege from Christmas day and running out of food supplies and milk for children on fear of safety and security of life from further attacks of Muslim mob…. The news of this attack on Christians on Christmas Day was intentionally blocked by media and administration of capital city Islamabad."
Russia: Security forces in a North Caucasus province on Sunday killed three Islamic militants suspected ofplanning attacks on church services during the Russian Orthodox Christmas holiday in January. Security forces tried to stop a van in a Muslim-majority province but its occupants opened fire and, in the ensuing battle, were killed. Guns and ammunition were subsequently discovered in the van, indicating that the men could have been planning attacks on churches during the services that marked the Russian Orthodox Christmas. "Deadly exchanges of gunfire between police and suspected militants at road checkpoints are common in Russia's North Caucasus, a string of provinces hit by an Islamist insurgency rooted in two separatist wars in Chechnya," the report added.

Murders and Plots of Murder

Algeria: According to a local man who escaped an Islamic raid in the Sahara, the Islamic gunmen, who seized hundreds of gas plant workers, told the staff they would not harm Muslims but would kill Western hostages to whom they referred as "Christians and infidels": "The terrorists told us at the very start that they would not hurt Muslims but were only interested in the Christians and infidels. 'We will kill them,' they said."
Egypt: Two bearded men, apparently Salafis —those Muslims who most try to pattern themselves after Islam's prophet—in what appears to have been a random act of violence, stabbed a Christian woman in Alexandria. The two men were riding a motorcycle when they intercepted Mary and, as she was crossing the street, stabbed her in her abdomen, causing a serious wound in her peritoneal membrane. Mary, a Copt, was transported to the hospital, where she underwent surgery. Although her family filed a complaint with the police, the head detective, as usual, refused to go out and inspect the assault scene. An activist confirmed that this is not the first attack on Coptic women in Alexandria; there were several such cases reported in January, all with no response from authorities.
Iraq: The nation's ever dwindling Christian minority continues to suffer atrocities. A Christian university medical student was killed by a car bomb a day after the body of a 54-year-old female Christian teacher was found with her throat cut. She had been discovered in the same area where attacks have been perpetrated in the past against members of the city's Christian minority -- some abducted then murdered.
Turkey: An assassination plot against a Protestant pastor was thwarted when police arrested 14 suspects, two of whom had been part of his congregation for more than a year, pretending to be interested in Christianity; one went so far as to be baptized. "These people had infiltrated our church and collected information about me, my family and the church and were preparing an attack against us," said the pastor, a native Turk who had converted to Christianity. "Two of them attended our church for over a year and they were like family."
Also, an 85-year-old Christian Armenian woman was stabbed to death in her apartment. A crucifix was carved onto her naked corpse. Another elderly Christian Armenian woman was punched in the head, and, after collapsing to the floor, was repeatedly kicked by a masked man. According to the report, "the attack marks the fifth in the past two months against elderly Armenian women, one of whom has has lost an eye…. Opinion remains divided as to whether these are organised hate crimes targeting non-Muslims or just random theft." According to Turkey's Human Rights Association, however, "The attacks were carried out with racist motives," the victims intentionally targeted for being Christian Armenians.

Apostasy, Blasphemy, Proselytism

Egypt: A court sentenced an entire family—Nadia Mohamed Ali and her seven children—to fifteen years in prison for converting to Christianity. Seven other people were sentenced to five years in prison, mainly for facilitating the formal conversion of the family. Born a Christian, Nadia had converted to Islam to marry a Muslim man; when she attempted to convert back to Christianity after the death of her husband, and reflect this change formally on her and her children's identity card, the request created suspicions among security personnel, who arrested the family. The fifteen year prison sentence followed.
Iran: Saeed Abedini, an American-Iranian Christian pastor was arrested and, in a sham trial, sentenced "to eight years in prison for threatening the national security of Iran through his leadership in Christian house churches. He will serve the time in Iran's notorious Evin Prison, known as one of the most brutal." "This is a real travesty—a mockery of justice," said the American pastor's attorney. "From the very beginning, Iranian authorities have lied about all aspects of this case, even releasing rumors of his expected release. Iran has not only abused its own laws, it has trampled on the fundamentals of human rights." This is not be the first time Tehran has behaved in such a manner.
MalaysiaThreats to burn Bibles in the Malay language were just the latest assaults on Christianity in a Muslim nation regularly touted in the Western press as "moderate." A note written in Malay saying a Bible-burning festival would soon take place was sent to a Christian priest; it ended with a warning in English: "Let's teach 'em a lesson." This latest threat "has had the desired effect of adding to the despair of Malaysian Christians. A fortnight ago the Sultan of the State of Selangor, defying the conventional practice and in the country, forbade Christians from using the word 'Allah.' The Arabic term for God, in usage in religious and cultural contexts before the dawn of Islam, has been used in Bibles in the Malay language and litany for more than 400 years."

Dhimmitude

[General Abuse and Suppression of Non-Muslims as "Tolerated" Citizens]
Egypt: A Muslim preacher, Hisham al-Ashri, appeared on prime-time television saying that women not wearing thehijab [headscarf] in public, are asking to get raped. He framed his discussion around Christians, who in Egypt are most likely not to wear veils: "I was once asked: If I came to power, would I let Christian women remain unveiled? And I said: If they want to get raped on the streets, then they can." He further said that, "In order for Egypt to become fully Islamic, alcohol must be banned and all women must be covered," a remark that pointedly does not take Egypt's large Christian minority—whose own religious beliefs do not mandate veils or ban alcohol—into consideration.
Indonesia: After being threatened with closure, six Catholic schools in the nation that has the largest Muslim population in the world, finally agreed to hire Islamic teachers and offer Islamic lessons to Muslim students. Muslim public schools, however, habitually refuse to offer Christian lessons to Christian students, and teach Islam to all students. As one Indonesian commentator put it, "If the regulation is upheld, will Islamic schools, which are more exclusive than Catholic schools when it comes to accepting students of different faiths, also be required to provide Buddhist, Christian or Hindu lessons for their non-Muslim students?" Separately, the Indonesia Ulema Council's East Java chapter urged other regions in the province to issue similar decrees so that all schools, whether state-run or managed by Christian foundations, provide Islamic lessons for their Muslim students.
Pakistan: A powerful government official's Muslim aide, running a prostitution ring abducted a 15-year-old Christian girl from her home, then forced her to convert to Islam and marry him. As a tenant of the Christian family, the aide was evicted after police exposed his prostitution ring. After his departure, the girl disappeared. When, according to the mother, the aide called the girl's family, "He also claimed that Asma had converted to Islam and asked us not to look for her, as she won't be returning home. I could not believe my ears, because Asma is hardly 15 and Ghaji [the Muslim aide] is thrice her age," she said. "I told him that I wanted to speak to Asma for the last time, so he handed over the phone to her. 'What have you done my child, my child?' I asked as Asma burst into tears. [Asma said:] 'They are not going to let me return home, mother—do something.'" The police, as usual, refused to register a case, telling the devastated parents, "Do you know Ghaji works for Siraj Durrani [a governmental official]? I'd suggest that you forget your daughter and stop creating problems for your other children."
Tanzania: During a Friday mosque sermon, a cleric called on Muslims "not to cooperate with Christians because they were infidels. He insisted that Muslims should not take part in Christian festivals like Christmas, Easter and other celebrations, including baptism and confirmation." He also called on Muslims not to go to Christian funeral services, because infidel Christians are to be buried as dogs: "Let me tell you if you came from a Christian father or mother, but you got assimilated [converted to Islam], consider yourself you are lucky. But if one of your parents is deceased, you shouldn't burry [sic] him or her, but just put him/her in the grave as if you [were] doing it to a dead dog." The report further adds that, "Since the founding of the Saad bin Mwazi mosque in Makorora half a decade ago [where the above sermon took place], most residents of the area, including Christians and Muslims have been listening to hate sermons uttered in the mosque."
UzbekistanPolice detained 80 church leaders in a raid on a gathering to train people for the ministry. In the process, they insulted the Christians and confiscated their Bibles and Christian books, later destroyed by a court order. According to the report, "Four leaders were charged with offences under the country's harsh laws regarding religious practice, including violating the procedure for holding religious meetings, carrying out unauthorised religious activity and teaching religious beliefs without permission. They were each fined more than a year's salary in Uzbekistan and are appealing against the ruling. On 24 December, a court ordered that Bibles confiscated during the raid must be destroyed, despite the fact that the Committee on the Religious Affairs of Uzbekistan officially recognises the Bible as a legitimate text."

About this Series

Because the persecution of Christians in the Islamic world is on its way to reaching pandemic proportions, "Muslim Persecution of Christians" was developed to collate some—by no means all—of the instances of persecution that surface each month. It serves two purposes:
1) To document that which the mainstream media does not: the habitual, if not chronic, Muslim persecution of Christians.
2) To show that such persecution is not "random," but systematic and interrelated—that it is rooted in a worldview inspired by Sharia.
Accordingly, whatever the anecdote of persecution, it typically fits under a specific theme, including hatred for churches and other Christian symbols; sexual abuse of Christian women; forced conversions to Islam; apostasy and blasphemy laws that criminalize and punish with death those who "offend" Islam; theft and plunder in lieu ofjizya (financial tribute expected from non-Muslims); overall expectations for Christians to behave like dhimmis, or second-class, "tolerated" citizens; and simple violence and murder. Sometimes it is a combination.
Because these accounts of persecution span different ethnicities, languages, and locales—from Morocco in the West, to India in the East, and throughout the West wherever there are Muslims—it should be clear that one thing alone binds them: Islam—whether the strict application of Islamic Sharia law, or the supremacist culture born of it.
