President Obama touts that his administration is the “most transparent” in history, but what is becoming increasingly clear about this White House is an ongoing struggle with telling the truth.
White House press secretary Jay Carney on Thursday admitted that previous claims that the president had never met his Kenyan uncle, Onyango “Omar” Obama, were untrue.
As reported on BizPac Review, while testifying at his immigration hearing this week, the uncle said that the “president had stayed with him at his Cambridge apartment for three weeks when he came to attend Harvard Law School in the 1980s.”
Testimony that contradicts the earlier claim made by the White House.
At a press briefing on Thursday, Fox News’ Ed Henry pointed to a report in the Boston Globe where the White House now acknowledges that what the uncle is saying is true, and asked Carney “how can you make that kind of mistake?”
The Boston Globe reported on Thursday:
“The president first met Omar Obama when he moved to Cambridge for law school,” said White House spokesman Eric Schultz. “The president did stay with him for a brief period of time until his apartment was ready. After that, they saw each other once every few months, but after law school they fell out of touch.
Carney explained that the first time the White House was asked, they “looked at the records, including the president’s book,” but said that “no one spoke to the president.”
So we are to believe that when making the first statement that the two men had never met, no one bothered to ask President Obama — seriously, the chutzpah of this administration is off the charts.
