Jesus Christ, the second Adam who restored the
first

In the beginning, God created Adam/Eve in a special way and gave them special assignments.  (See verses below)

  1. In His image and after His likeness
  2. Be fruitful and multiply
  3. Replenish the earth
  4. Subdue it, which includes have dominion
  5. Dress and keep ("protect, guard") the garden
  6. Name the animals
  7. He was naked

Gen  1:26-28
26  And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.
27 So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.
28  And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth.

Gen 2:15
15  And the LORD God took the man, and put him into the garden of Eden to dress it and to keep it.

Gen 2:19
19  And out of the ground the LORD God formed every beast of the field, and every fowl of the air; and brought them unto Adam to see what he would call them: and whatsoever Adam called every living creature, that was the name thereof.

Gen 2:25
25  And they were both naked, the man and his wife, and were not ashamed.

This was intended, original state of man, which God had created.  We were created in His image (“reflection of His glory”) and His likeness (“representation”) to multiply His image/likeness through fruitfulness (built-in evangelism) to the degree that we would replenish (“fill and accomplish”) the earth with His glory.  In addition, we were to subdue or take dominion over the earth and everything living thing in it.  (The earth already was seeded with trouble, the fallen angels, before man fell.) Then, we had to keep and guard the special place of Godly encounter, the garden.  (Yet the rest of the earth did not need keeping in a gardening/lawn sense.
Gen 2:5.  The garden was special.)  And finally, as a kiss from God, he brought the animals to Adam, to “see” what he would call them.  True voluntary partnership.  (This reminds me of Song 8:5, where the bride is leaning upon her beloved, as one)

All of this authority and responsibility was given to a man who was naked!  What’s up with that God?  The word naked in the Hebrew means not only having limited outer garments, but also a lack of mantle.  Man had and has no mantle of His own.   His mantle of authority only came from the spoken Word of God.

So why the cross? Because the authority and responsibility given by God to man was taken by Satan.  Satan was the covering cherub of God’s glory in the garden.

Ezek 28:12-16
12 Son of man, take up a lamentation upon the king of Tyrus, and say unto him, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Thou sealest up the sum, full of wisdom, and perfect in beauty.
13 Thou hast been in Eden the garden of God; every precious stone was thy covering, the sardius, topaz, and the diamond, the beryl, the onyx, and the jasper, the sapphire, the emerald, and the carbuncle, and gold: the workmanship of thy tabrets and of thy pipes was prepared in thee in the day that thou wast created.
14 Thou art the anointed cherub that covereth; and I have set thee so: thou wast upon the holy mountain of God; thou hast walked up and down in the midst of the stones of fire.
15 Thou wast perfect in thy ways from the day that thou wast created, till iniquity was found in thee.
16 By the multitude of thy merchandise they have filled the midst of thee with violence, and thou hast sinned: therefore I will cast thee as profane out of the mountain of God: and I will destroy thee, O covering cherub, from the midst of the stones of fire.

He was the most beautiful of creation and walked amongst the stones of fire (God’s glory).  But in his beauty, he became jealous that his mantle (beauty) was not as good as God’s.  Therefore, he desired to be like God.

Isa 14:12-14
12  How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! how art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations!
13 For thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north:
14 I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the most High.

The iniquity that was found in him was his desire to have a different mantle, namely God’s.  He had the knowledge of good and evil.  Good in Hebrew, Strong’s 2896, Tov, is defined as all that is good, virtuous, righteous, etc.  These are the characteristics and nature of God.  Evil in Hebrew, Strong’s 7451, Ra, essentially means the inability to come up to the good standards, which will benefit.  It is the opposite of Tov.
The knowledge of good and evil contains the understanding that God is God and you are not!  In other words,
that apart from Him, nothing compares to His goodness and beauty. Even though Satan was created perfectly, once he knew that he was not God, iniquity or knowledge of comparative mantles made him jealous.

Therefore, Lucifer, the cherub became Satan, the fallen angel.

Ezek 28:17
17 Thine heart was lifted up because of thy beauty, thou hast corrupted thy wisdom by reason of thy brightness: I will cast thee to the ground, I will lay thee before kings, that they may behold thee.

Now, the verse above like most, if not all, verses in scripture have many meanings.  Satan will (future tense) be permanently banned from heaven and be thrown into the pit.  But also Lucifer, who was the covering cherub WAS thrown to the “ground,” or fallen state (then named Satan), and shape-shifted into the form as a serpent.
He could not possess man, as a vehicle, at that time, because Adam had not eaten of the forbidden fruit.
He was stuck occupying a less desirable rental space in the other created living creatures that did not have the image of God.

Rev 20:2
2 And he laid hold on the dragon, that old serpent, which is the Devil, and
Satan, and bound him a thousand years,

Gen 3:1
1 Now the serpent was more subtil than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made. And he said unto the woman, Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden?

Therefore, Satan even more enraged with jealousy because he is not God AND that God had made man in God’s image, went after man.  Not only was Satan jealous of man being created in God’s image and likeness, but also that man had dominion over Satan (take dominion over all living things, including the serpent), man had  authority to rule and possess earth (replenish), and finally that man had the ability to walk with God (in garden amongst stones of fire) without having a mantle!  Man was naked and in bliss, Satan had previously had more beauty and intimacy, and lost it.

By being in the garden (remember Adam was supposed to keep it and guard it from Satan and his minions), and causing Adam/Eve to know their lack of mantle, Satan destroyed the ability for man to commune freely with
God, have authority over him, and also could inhabit the very likeness and image of God (man).  No more serpent house for him.

With the understanding of what man was given and what was lost, it explains the punishment given by God to Adam and Eve.

Bold, unashamed, confident communion with God was lost because they knew that their mantle was less than
God’s.

Gen 3:7-8
7 And the eyes of them both were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together, and made themselves aprons.
8 And they heard the voice of the LORD God walking in the garden in the cool of the day: and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the LORD God amongst the trees of the garden.

Being fruitful and multiplying would now be difficult.

Gen 3:16
16 Unto the woman he said, I will greatly multiply thy sorrow and thy conception; in sorrow thou shalt bring forth children; and thy desire shall be to thy husband, and he shall rule over thee.

Having authority and dominion of the earth and its creatures would be a labor.

Gen 3:17-19
17 And unto Adam he said, Because thou hast hearkened unto the voice of thy wife, and hast eaten of the tree, of which I commanded thee, saying, Thou shalt not eat of it: cursed is the ground for thy sake; in sorrow shalt thou eat of it all the days of thy life;
18 Thorns also and thistles shall it bring forth to thee; and thou shalt eat the herb of the field;
19 In the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread, till thou return unto the ground; for out of it wast thou taken: for dust thou art, and unto dust shalt thou return.

And maybe worst of all, Satan could now take possession of man as a house.

Gen 6:1-4
1 And it came to pass, when men began to multiply on the face of the earth, and daughters were born unto them,
2 That the sons of God saw the daughters of men that they were fair; and they took them wives of all which they
chose.
3 And the LORD said, My spirit shall not always strive with man, for that he also is flesh: yet his days shall be an hundred and twenty years.
4 There were giants in the earth in those days; and also after that, when the sons of God came in unto the daughters of men, and they bare children to them, the same became mighty men which were of old, men of
renown.

Jude 1:6-7
6 And the angels which kept not their first estate, but left their own habitation, he hath reserved in everlasting chains under darkness unto the judgment of the great day.
7 Even as Sodom and Gomorrha, and the cities about them in like manner, giving themselves over to fornication, and going after strange flesh, are set forth for an example, suffering the vengeance of eternal fire.

Jesus came to restore all of the above.

And he had to do it with a mantle of nakedness, in the form of man.  He could not come in glory because God’s plan is to have man, who has no glory of his own, walk in intimacy with the glorious God.  Even with the knowledge of good and evil, the plan was to have man choose not to succumb to jealousy, but rather be ravished with love.

Phil 2:5-8
5 Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus:
6 Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God:
7 But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men:
8 And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.

Only God can have the knowledge of good and evil and still not be in sin, not being prideful or jealous. The Son is not jealous of the Father and yet is obedient.  The Holy Spirit is not jealous of the Son even though He constantly gives testimony of Jesus.  Therefore, man, having the knowledge of good and evil, can only have true intimate relationship with God, by having God in us.  Jesus Christ in us, the hope of glory!

Col 1:27
27 To whom God would make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; which is Christ in you, the hope of glory:

What manner of love is this?
Why is God mindful of man?

Wow, he created us with no mantle of our own, but through intimacy with the One who has the infinite mantle, He has given us authority, dominion, and power.

How much more so should we glorify God, by using the power that He has shed His own blood for to restore.  How much more should we feel confident that we can walk with Him without a conscience of sin.  (Heb
10:1-21) And how much more should we put Satan in his place.  (Heb 10:13)

Restoring The Genesis Mandate: God's Original Intent

E-mail Print
Your Kingship was God’s original intent – and He hasn’t changed His mind. From the moment Adam lost his kingship and was expelled from the Garden of Eden God has been working all things after the counsel of His will – to restore YOU and this world and everything in it back to Himself.

Luke records God’s plan in Acts 3:19-21: “Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord; And he shall send Jesus Christ, which before was preached unto you: Who the heaven must receive until the times of restitution of all things, which God hath spoken by the mouth of all his holy prophets since the world began.”

Restoration is the act of restoring to the rightful owner something that has been taken away, lost or stolen. The word “restitution” in this Scripture comes from the Greek word apokatastasis, meaning “to return this Earth back to its perfect state before the fall.” God has been working to restore the Earth to its perfect state and to restore man’s kingship for thousands of years.

Kingship was God’s original intent
Kingship was God’s original intent
In the beginning, we know that God created Adam in His own image, in His likeness and with His nature (Genesis 1:26). The Word says that “God formed man from the dust of the ground and breathed life (not air) into his nostrils and man became a living soul with purpose – to fellowship with God and have dominion over this Earth (Genesis 2:7; 1:26).

In the original creation Adam was perfect. He lived out of his spirit. He communed with God out of his spirit. He was connected to God through his spirit. He named the animals from his spirit. He tended the garden from his spirit. He exercised his kingship, or dominion, over the Earth from his spirit.

Scripture tells us that God put Adam in the Garden of Eden to dress it and to keep it. He also gave Adam a command: “Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat: But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die” (Genesis 2). Of course, Adam did not immediately die when he ate of the fruit. He lived to be 930 years old. God was talking about a spiritual death.

Some time after this we read the testimony of Eve’s deception by the serpent. That old serpent told Eve that the reason God didn’t want her to eat of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil was because her eyes would be opened and she would be like God (Genesis 3:5). The reality was that Adam and Eve were already like God. They were created with the very nature of God, in the image of God, blessed by God, and given dominion over the Earth by God.

We all know the sad conclusion, Eve partook and Adam did, too. Sin entered the Earth and Adam’s spirit died because the wages of sin is death (Romans 6:23). Adam’s disobedience caused a communal disconnect between his spirit and the Spirit of God. Adam and Eve began to live out of their souls instead of their spirits. (Your soul is your mind, will, intellect, reasoning, imaginations and emotions.) They were led by their five senses – touch, hearing, sight, smell and taste – instead of their spirits. Before the fall they simply knew what they needed to know. They could draw any knowledge they needed directly from God’s Spirit. Their fall was the genesis of soulish education.

When God came into the garden to fellowship with Adam, he heard the Lord’s voice and tried to hide among the trees. God called out to Adam, asking “Where art thou?” Adam replied, “I heard thy voice in the garden, and I was afraid because I was naked; and I hid myself” (Genesis 2:8-10). Of course, God knew where Adam was all along. God is all knowing. He didn’t ask because He didn’t know. God knew where Adam was physically but He couldn’t find Adam in His Spirit. For the first time Adam was not connected to God through his spirit.

From that moment on, God determined to restore mankind back to Himself. I can almost hear God saying, “Adam, I’m coming to get you!” In order to work this out to the counsel of His will, God had to send the Second Adam, the Lord Jesus Christ, the Lamb of God that taketh away the sin of the world.

What we need to understand here is that Adam didn’t fall from heaven. He fell from grace. Our ultimate destination as born-again believers is not heaven, but Earth. Even the rapture only takes us to heaven for a short time. We will eventually return to this Earth to rule and reign with Christ. We don’t need incorruptible resurrected bodies to live in heaven. We need them for life on Earth.

Adam did not understand his purpose. Not understanding our purpose is the foundation of all failure. God’s original intent for man has always been to fellowship with Him. We were designed from the beginning to take dominion over this Earth that God has created. We can never see our original intent restored until we are first born again and subsequently learn to live out of our born- again spirits.

Scripture says that the Holy Spirit is our Teacher who will lead us and guide us in all truth. He is the One who is actively involved in the restitution of all things. Friend, the Spirit-led life is the answer to walking out your kingship. The Apostle Peter said we are a priesthood of kings (1 Peter 2:9). Jesus said it is the Father’s good pleasure to give us the Kingdom (Luke 12:32). Scripture declares that all creation is waiting for the manifestation of the sons of God (Romans 8:19).

How can we manifest as sons? By exercising our kingship authority as believers and walking out the restored biblical truths of our generation. Every “movement” throughout history has resulted in some form of truth being restored to the Body of Christ. After the resurrection of Jesus, religious spirits attacked the Church and we plunged into the Dark Ages. Yet the seed of the Kingdom of God had already been planted and was destined to outgrow everything (Mark 4:31).

Consider this. It took over 2,000 years for the Church to be prepared for the restoration of this “kingship of every believer” truth. What we do with this revelation of kingship, as the original intent is up to us.
