A 23 year old student was pulled over for allegedly speeding off campus, by a University of the Incarnate Word officer.  Lt. Cindy Pruitt, announced an investigation into the shooting of student by a campus cop.  Pruitt stressed that the investigation was just beginning.  No explanation why a campus cop would pull someone over off campus.
The story as of now is that the campus cop pulled over Robert Cameron Redus, into the parking lot of the Treehouse Apartments at Broadway and Arcadia Place around 2 a.m.  Allegedly, both got out of their cars and a struggle ensued.  The unidentified campus cop called for backup and then unloaded his gun into Redus, who was declared dead at the scene.
Witnesses at thew scene describe what they heard.  Mohammad Haidarasl, 22, recounted,  “I heard (a man) say, ‘Oh, you’re gonna shoot me?’ like sarcastic almost.”  Moments later, gunshots erupted.  According to KSAT, An unidentified man who  said he didn’t hear the officer issue any warnings to Redus before the shooting.
“I didn’t hear him say anything like, ‘Get down on your hands and knees,’ you know? I didn’t hear him say anything. He just started shooting,”
“He emptied the gun on him.  Boom, boom, boom.Six shots — five or six.”
Redus was co-valedictorian at  Baytown Christian Academy.  Redus was scheduled to graduate in May from college.  His friends talked to the press about Redus:
Sara Davis, 20, and her sister Annie Jones, 22, both of Baytown, described Redus as kind, intelligent, compassionate and well-loved within the community.
“He was not an aggressive person at all, so the story doesn’t make sense,” Davis said.
