tall-tales of President

Liar pants on fire: The tall-tales of President Obama

The man elected to the White House is supposed to be one of integrity, honesty and character. However, it doesn't seem to be the case with the current president who has been caught telling some whoppers while in office.
He's become known as the man of empty pledges and broken promises. One of the problems is that nobody seems to hold him accountable for his lies. The mainstream media glosses over his lies covering for him.
It was a mere five days ago that Politifact awarded Barack Obama the "Lie of the Year." Perhaps the reason so many cover for him is because a lot of people view him as a messiah?
The Policy and Issues Examiner reported about a recent example of how he's viewed as the savior of America. In a CNN interview with Piers Morgan, Barbara Walters said that she and others thought Obama would be "the next messiah."
Now that we have established a possible motive of why so many cover for him, let's examine some of the lies he's told.
Obama promised to close Gitmo; It was reported that Obama promised to closed Guantanamo Bay in 2008 and again in 2012. Mother Jones reported the following, "Obama's failure to close Gitmo has been criticized by progressives and conservatives alike."
In 2009 he tried to have the prisoners moved to the Thomson Correctional Center in Illinois but was stonewalled by the House Armed Services Committee, which by the way had a Democratic chairman at the time.
Obama promised to End the Iraq War in 2009; On Oct. 27, 2007, Obama said about our troops in Iraq, "I will promise you this, that if we have not gotten our troops out [of Iraq] by the time I am president, it is the first thing I will do. I will bring our troops home, we will bring an end to this war. You can take that to the bank." The troops did not leave Iraq until Dec. 2012.
He promised to end the embargo on Cuba; Obama is on video saying, "I think it's time for us to end the embargo on Cuba." The Wire reported that he quietly renewed the embargo on Cuba On Sept. 13, 2011.
He gave his word to put an end to the 'extraordinary rendition' of Muslims by confining them in secret locations where suspects are tortured until they confessed to plotting against the US. In Feb. 2009 ABC News reported, "Obama Administration Maintains Bush Position on ‘Extraordinary Rendition’ Lawsuit."
Obama said he would end wiretapping of US citizens' communications when he became president. In Sept. 2012, Breitbart reported, that Obama increased the amount of wiretapping done on Americans by four times.
Obama gave us his word his administration would be the most transparent in American history. However, to date his administration has not been open about the legislative process. It's reported that the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) Treaty is being negotiated behind closed doors, as this Examiner reported in November.
Candidate Barack Obama criticized President Bush for using ‘signing statements’ to ignore the will of Congress. But Obama’s done the same thing 20 times since taking office, according to the Daily Beast. Perhaps one of the most blatant is when he signed the National Defense Authorization Act on New Year's Eve 2011.
He said about Solyndra, "It’s here that companies like Solyndra are leading the way toward a brighter and more prosperous future.” After Obama gave them $535 million, Solyndra and its solar panels went belly up.
Obama told Israel that we have made sure they (Iran) are not adding additional centrifuges. He also assured Israel that Iran had to roll back their 20 percent enrichment to zero. However, we all know the recent agreement with Iran allows them uranium enrichment of five percent.
Now we have reached the biggest lie of at least 2013 if not of the entire presidency of Obama. "If you like your plan you can keep your plan. Period." This lie has earned Obama Politifact’s top lie of 2013. With this lie he has earned Politifact’s “pants on fire” distinction.
Perhaps it would be wise of Mr. Obama to remember that, "Lying lips are an abomination to the Lord, but those who act faithfully are his delight."
