Remember that guy? In 2010, he encouraged people to throw bricks through the windows of Democratic Party offices, in protest of Obamacare. You may recall that the district office of Rep. Gabrielle Giffords was one of the offices that had its windows broken in the name of fighting socialism. His name is Mike Vanderboegh, and he is the leader of a militia group currently camped out in support of Cliven Bundy.
He played a key role in turning the “Fast and Furious” thing into a scandal. He has participated in the “Minutemen” patrols of the southern border. He runs a far-right blog where he rails against the government and the “collectivists” and “Marxism-Leninism”. He decries President Obama’s “collectivism” and describes himself as a “Christian libertarian”. He’s written an unpublished novel about militia groups planning to assassinate government officials in protest of gun control and gay marriage, a book he describes as “a combination field manual, technical manual, and call to arms”.
But this is the best part: he lives on government disability benefits.
That’s right: he has time for all these anti-government activities because of that government check that comes every month. Someone at Democratic Underground remembered the stories from 2010 and put the pieces together.
