Syria is burning today because the over two-year old “civil” war to overthrow Syrian President Bashar al-Assad has been fueled by the Obama administration’s CIA gunrunning and arms smuggling to rebels in Syria from Benghazi, Libya through Turkey, Lebanon and Jordan—the next stop is Iran.
First, as we near the one-year anniversary of the September 11, 2012 attack in Benghazi the rotten fruits of the Benghazi cover-up consume more casualties by the day in Syria—and no one has been held accountable for the attack. The war in Syria would have ended long ago had the Obama administration’s covert gunrunning operation in Benghazi not fed it by arming the anti-Assad rebels and if the truth of the Benghazi attack had been widely exposed, as previously reported— to conceal the proxy battle with the war in Iran. Instead the Benghazi cover-up has brought America to the brink of war and to another US military intervention in Syria.
According to a Libya-Egypt-Yemen Smart Pack dated September 13, 2012, obtained via FOIA, that was assembled after the September 11, 2012 Benghazi attack to answer “RFIs” [Request for Information] from Congress:
“A [Marine Fleet Antiterrorism Security Team] FAST platoon deployed to Libya yesterday (12 Sep 12) to provide security for the US Embassy in Tripoli … FAST companies maintain forward-deployed platoons at various naval commands around the globe and possess US-based alert forces capable of rapidly responding to unforeseen contingencies worldwide … FAST platoons are primarily designed to conduct defensive combat operations, military security operations, and rear area security operations in response to approved requests (emphasis mine).”
So the obvious question is why was a FAST platoon deployed to Tripoli, Libya the day after the September 11, 2012 attack in Benghazi and not sent to Benghazi when the call for help came in or to secure the crime scene and allow the FBI to do their jobs instead of keeping them out for nearly a month compromising and contaminating the evidence?
How do we know this? Because the Obama administration knows how critical evidence gathering is at the time of the incident.
The cover-up
As IPS reported on Tuesday, In Rush to Strike Syria, U.S. Tried to Derail U.N. Probe, Secretary of State John Kerry said during a press conference regarding the August 21 chemical weapons attack in Syria that the UN investigation to determine whether it was the rebels or Assad was “too late to be credible,” less than a week after the attack because the evidence was being “systematically” destroyed.
Remember after the Benghazi attack as the Associated Press reported, the Obama administration denied the FBI access to Benghazi for almost a month after the attack citing security reasons although a CNN reporter, who picked up Ambassador Stevens journal and Libyans paying their respects to the Ambassador roamed freely and safely. This is the perfect way to thwart evidence collection, skew official conclusions, aid the perpetrators and conceal the truth from Americans. The fix was in as previously reported and documented here. FAST platoons could have and should have been sent to Benghazi during or after the attack to the CIA outpost that wasn’t a consulate if the Obama administration wanted America to know the truth. Are you awake yet?
For context, as documented in the response to Congress in FOIA, FAST platoons are “deployable within 6 hours of receipt of mission.” FAST platoon have provided embassy security during Operation RESTORE HOPE in 1992 Mogadishu, Somalia. FAST was sent after the USS Cole Bombing in Aden, Yemen in October 2000. FAST platoon provided Embassy reinforcement in Haiti and Pakistan.
FAST deployed to provide security to US Embassy and the Sheraton hotel where embassy staff resided.
FAST reinforced US Embassy security amidst revolutionary uprising in Cairo Egypt in January 2011. But FAST platoon was not deployed to help Americans in peril in Benghazi or to help secure the crime scene where a U.S. Ambassador was murdered.

“No-notice” USMC response options
When members of the Obama administration, including then Secretary of Defense Leon Panetta and Chairman of the Joint Chief of Staff General Martin Dempsey, claimed they could not have sent help to Benghazi in time, they were not telling you the truth. Did they had a crystal ball and know when the attack in Benghazi would end? The truth is there were Marines trained to respond under “no-notice,” and were never put into motion guaranteeing a bad outcome, as exclusively reported in Benghazi insider speaks out and backs up Fox News Whistleblower. This also guaranteed a botched, compromised investigation.
From the FOIA in the section entitled “Information Paper” dated October 3, 2012. ”Subj: USMC Responds to Senator [Kelly] Ayotte’s [R-NH] questions with respect to the 11 Sep 2012 Attacks in Benghazi, Libya.”
First we learn there were no Marines in Benghazi. Zero. However, the embassy in Tripoli was on “the planned expansion list.” As always the Marine Corps, who does not leave anyone behind, was “prepared to provide an MCESG [Marine Corps Embassy Security Group] detachment” but the State Department “[DOS] has not requested an MSG Detachment for the US Consulate in Benghazi from the Marine Corps” immediately after the attack (emphasis mine).
This makes perfect sense if the Obama administration including the Central Intelligence Agency, Joint Staff, Department of Defense, and State Department didn’t want the Marines or America to know what was going on in Benghazi—the illegal gunrunning into Syria which has culminated to the brink of war with Syria, Iran, Russia and China today— but it makes no sense otherwise considering the Obama administration had just ousted Col. Muammar Gaddafi a year earlier. Gaddafi was killed in October 11, 2011 and Libya was in utter chaos.
Recall how reports of mass looting of weapons began to surface in Libya making it, “a global terrorism risk and an accessible arsenal for any potential insurgency,” as Time Magazine described it. Besides bullets … and warehouses “that had recently contained hundreds — potentially thousands — of surface-to-air missiles” including “SA-24s —that are capable of taking down low-flying military and commercial aircraft, “they’re the kind of weapon coveted by any guerrilla or terrorist organization looking to make an impact.” As previously reported in State Department Denies Libya Weapons Buyback Program Exists, the State department has refused to provide an inventory of the weapons they allegedly recovered using taxpayer dollars compliments of Hillary Clinton.
Senator Ayottte’s office had also asked if there was a standard response time that Marines were expected to meet in terms of responding to emergencies at embassies and consulates and was told, “There are two potential USMC response options – MCESG/MSG [Marine Corps Embassy Security Group / Marine Security Guard] and FAST [Fleet Antiterrorism Security Teams]; however, there is no standard response time.”
That’s right two more options to help Americans in peril or secure the Benghazi crime scene and gather the evidence to catch the perpetrators—Ansar al Sharia, funded, backed and controlled by Iran. In a just America that would be called obstruction of justice.
The information Paper continues:
“The response time to any emergency is predicated by many factors such as time of day, advance notice or no-notice, current activities, and the locations of off-duty members of the detachments. The MSGs conduct a minimum of two no-notice drills per month, but most detachments conduct more drills than the minimum standard. The MSGs train to respond to protests, mass casualty/bombings, intruders, and fire and bomb threats/searches. This response training is conducted at all hours and usually will include the State Department Regional Security Officer (RSO) or his deputy as well as the MCESG detachment. In terms of FAST … their alert posture is predicated on combatant commander requirements according to threat reporting and assessment. By order of the Secretary of Defense [then Leon Panetta], the dedicated EUCOM FAST Company supports commander US Africa Command for crisis response and contingency situations. An example of this is the FAST Platoon currently deployed as a crisis response force to the US Embassy, Tripoli – it was sourced from the EUCOM FAST Company (emphasis mine).”
EUCOM, the United States European Command is headquartered at Panzer Kaserne in Böblingen, Germany.
The fruits of the Benghazi cover up are playing out today. Remember, last spring when the Obama administration accused Assad of using chemical weapons then? The United Nations found it was the rebels. Did the Obama administration bomb the anti-Assad rebels they have been supporting then? No. Same goes for the British government, who worked with Obama to overthrow Gaddafi, and was on the ground in Benghazi as a part of NATO. Today the British government released a statement, “The use of chemical weapons by the Syrian regime is a serious crime of international concern, as a breach of the customary international law prohibition on use of chemical weapons, and amounts to a war crime and a crime against humanity. However, the legal basis for military action would be humanitarian intervention; the aim is to relieve humanitarian suffering by deterring or disrupting the further use of chemical weapons,” the statement said. Really, why wasn’t it a war crime and crime against humanity against the Obama/NATO backed rebels?
By their fruits you shall know them. Do not be deceived. Innocent lives caught in the crossfire depend on it. Already the ethnic cleansing of Christians, people of all faiths or no faith, has begun. The American people are right. The Obama regime needs to stay out of Syria.
