Roll Call: “A conservative group issued a memo blasting a proposal by House Ways and Means Chairman Dave Camp (R-Mich.) to pursue a miscellaneous tariff bill in possible violation of the House earmark ban. But while the memo from the Conservative Action Project lists a broad array of fellow conservative organizations behind the message, the effort inadvertently highlighted a rift on the right over the issue as Americans for Tax Reform quickly distanced itself.”
The Data Mine: (INFOGRAPHIC) “Under current law, a wide range of temporary tax and spending provisions are set to expire at the end of 2012, cutting the yearly budget deficit almost in half and as a result imposing considerable fiscal policy restraint on the U.S. economy. A recent report by the Congressional Budget Office suggests that the short-term economic consequences of letting that happen might be severe.”
Los Angeles Times: “Legislation has been introduced in Congress to make the bison the national mammal. … The designation would be strictly symbolic, adding the buffalo to the bald eagle, the rose and the oak tree as official national symbols.”
