U.S. Ambassador: Government sends Arms to Muslim Brotherhood for “Peace”

ALERT: Washington has begun its shipment of multi-million dollar F-16s to Egypt, a nation ruled by the Muslim Brotherhood. Fax Congress: Tell them to pass S. 201 to STOP military aid to Egypt!
Conservative American,
Despite cost or wisdom, Washington’s pipeline of military equipment continues to flow.
February 3rd marked the U.S. Government’s first shipment of Lockheed Martin Fighting Falcons to the Egyptian government – an administration run by the Muslim Brotherhood.
Celebrating our foolish generosity, U.S. Ambassador to Egypt Anne W. Patterson praised the transfer of expensive F-16s saying that it “demonstrates the firm belief of the United States that a strong Egypt is in the interest of the U.S., the region, and the world.”
Has the Ambassador not observed that Egypt has been anything but stable for the past two years?
Rather than stabilizing, Egypt is coming undone.
Take Action! DEMAND Congress to pass S. 201 to “prohibit the sale, lease, transfer, retransfer, or delivery of F-16 aircraft, M1 tanks, or certain other defense articles or services to the Government of Egypt.” Fax Congress!
Right now, protesters are assembled by the thousands in Cairo’s Tahrir Square in opposition to their President and his up-and-coming constitution.
President Mohammed Morsi – “elected” last year to bring Egypt out of martial law and into the rule of law – has shown himself to be more radical than his predecessors.
“Pharaoh” Morsi has not only reinstituted martial law (which has been a fact since November) but has been actively working with salafists and the Muslim Brotherhood members of parliament to craft a new constitution – one that is hostile toward religious freedom, women’s freedom, and democracy itself.
The question arises: Why is the American Government subsidizing – no, rewarding – such a tyrannical regime?
Patterson would have us believe that the United States is arming the Egyptian government to support “peace.” She said,

“We look to Egypt to continue to serve as a force for peace, security, and leadership as the Middle East proceeds with its challenging yet essential journey toward democracy.”

What a departure from reality! How is the subsidization of chaos a strategy for peace and stability?

The United States Government must stop this madness.
The good news is they can! That’s right, there is a bill in Congress right now that would prevent the remaining sixteen war planes from being delivered into the hands of Egypt’s governing mob: Rand Paul’s S. 201.
Take Action! DEMAND Congress to pass S. 201 to “prohibit the sale, lease, transfer, retransfer, or delivery of F-16 aircraft, M1 tanks, or certain other defense articles or services to the Government of Egypt.” Fax Congress!
Kentucky Senator Rand Paul is sponsoring a bill – S. 201 – that will stop the American government’s unnecessary, unconstitutional, and reckless “gifting” of arms to the Egyptian government – a nation that has become increasingly hostile toward the United States, not to mention its own people.
On the floor of the Senate on January 31st Senator Paul said:

“I think it is a blunder of the first proportion to send sophisticated weapons to a country that allowed a mob to attack our embassy and to burn our flag. I find it objectionable to send weapons, F-16s and tanks, to a company that allowed a mob chanting ‘death to America’ to threaten our American diplomats.
I am concerned that these weapons, some of the most sophisticated weapons in the world, someday may be used against Israel. I’m concerned that these weapons threaten Israel’s security …”

(Click to watch Senator Paul’s statement on S. 201.)

Senator Paul has been a Tea Party favorite and a friend of liberty – he has been one of the few voices in Washington that have truly championed Small Government and fiscal responsibility.
In his Senate career he has tirelessly called for the reduction of U.S. Foreign Aid to places like Egypt and Pakistan. Sen. Paul – in addition to grilling Hillary Clinton during her testimony to Congress – has so far been the only Senator to officially call for the investigation of the 9/11/12 terror attack on our consulate in Benghazi.
In this most recent effort, Senator Paul is again taking a stand for America’s best interest: keeping our money and our arms at home and out of the hands of those who would use them against us or our allies.
We must call on Congress – as Senator Paul had done last week in the Senate – to support S. 201 to prevent further military aid to Egypt and the Muslim Brotherhood!
Take Action! DEMAND Congress to pass S. 201 to “prohibit the sale, lease, transfer, retransfer, or delivery of F-16 aircraft, M1 tanks, or certain other defense articles or services to the Government of Egypt.” Fax Congress!

“…what will become of the weapons with which we have supplied them? What if they were surrendered or captured and turned against us? The possibility of having to face its own weapons on a foreign field is one of the nightmares of Empire.” – Garet Garrett, 1952

The United States Government has no business shipping valuable military equipment to Egypt to further militarize their unstable Islamic State.

Has Congress forgotten that it was in Egypt where our embassy was over-run by violent protesters? Has Congress forgotten that those very same protesters not only scaled the embassy’s walls, but also burned American flags?
Has Congress forgotten that the Egyptian government has detained Americans on politically conjured charges?
Has Congress forgotten that it was the President of Egypt who nodded in agreement when an angry Muslim cleric shouted “Death to Israel and all who support her”?
Domestically we are faced with coming cuts in military spending – sequestration – yet, rather than conserving our military tools, the government is giving them away!
Who gave Congress the authority to spend the People’s money in arming the rest of the world – an act that is flat-out unconstitutional and so often opposed to our national security?
As the Congress continues to “kick the can down the road” when it comes to raising the debt ceiling or defaulting, they somehow justify giving away multi-million dollar equipment to Egypt at the same time. How senseless! How irresponsible!
Egypt doesn’t need twenty more F-16s on the American taxpayers’ dime.
For what purpose does Egypt need these F-16s and Abrams tanks? To fight their Islamic neighbors? It is doubtful, but even if such is the case it is not the responsibility of the American government to make such provisions for them – Egypt alone should be responsible for its own security.
And what if they were to use our weapons against Israel, our ally, or us? Do we want ourselves or Israel to meet our own weapons in combat? Never. But such could be the case if our mindless gift-giving isn’t stopped by Congress.
“I think it is a blunder of the first proportion to send sophisticated weapons to a country that allowed a mob to attack our embassy and to burn our flag,” Sen. Paul said last week on the Senate floor. “I find it objectionable to send weapons, F-16s and tanks, to a company that allowed a mob chanting ‘death to America’ to threaten our American diplomats.”
It’s time for Congress to heed Sen. Paul’s words and Pass S. 201 –
Take Action! DEMAND Congress to pass S. 201 to “prohibit the sale, lease, transfer, retransfer, or delivery of F-16 aircraft, M1 tanks, or certain other defense articles or services to the Government of Egypt.” Fax Congress!

Don’t forget to send your free letters to your lawmakers here (you can also print it to share with others). We must do all we can to oppose such expensive, dangerous aid!
