B. Netanyahu: Romania can be model of democracy and freedom for Arab states in Middle East

Romania can be a model to follow regarding democracy and freedom for the Arab counties where mass movements took place this year, Israel Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu told a press conference at Victoria Palace on Wenesday.
He said he held talks with Prime Minister Emil Boc on the situation created in the Middle East by these movements as well as on the peace-building process and the possibility to maintain peace on the long run.
"It is vital that democracy should be adopted and we believe Romania could be consulted. We all hope this Arab spring to channel towards democracy and I know that Romanians face enough problems but success and freedom have not come without taking their toll. A higher quality of life cannot be conceived without freedom and the peoples in the Middle East are looking at the way you were before and where you are standing now and I believe you can be a model for choosing the right way, for the relations we have in the Middle East," says the Israeli official.
Romania is reaffirming its support for a two states two nations solution in relation to the Israeli-Palestinian issue, Romanian Prime Minister Emil Boc said on Wednesday after a meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu at the Government House in Bucharest.
"In the spirit of the constant stance always advocated by Romania in the Middle East peace process, I once again reaffirmed Romania's support for the existence of two states and two nations living peacefully and securely together, without unilateral solutions. A solution negotiated by the parties involved is the only one likely to provide a real and solid basis for sustainable and proper peace, That is why I underscored the need for negations to resume as soon as possible," said Boc.
Members of the Romanian Government and the Israeli Government will meet this November in Jerusalem, following an agreement in Bucharest between Romanian Prime Minister Emil Boc and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
Boc said the priority fields for cooperation between Romania and Israel are agriculture, energy, infrastructure, defence and tourism.
"We agreed to have a roadmap for our bilateral relations and also to schedule an intergovernmental meeting for this November to materialise development projects, and we also selected some important, key fields for cooperation, among which I would mention agriculture, energy, infrastructure, as well as defence matters, where there is excellent cooperation, along with tourism, healthcare and environment," said Boc.
The meeting in Jerusalem should also discuss the possibility to provide additional scholarships to Israeli students wanting to study in Romania and Romanian students wanting to attend university courses in Israel.
"I would also point to cultural cooperation, given that there are excellent relations between Romanian and Israeli universities, so that cooperation in this filed may be further consolidated and the number of fellowships for Romanian and Israel scientists and students multiplied, which will further strengthen the cultural component of the bilateral relationship," said Boc.
He also underscored the advantage of the Romanian-Israeli ties as a result of the involvement of the business community.
"We have the advantage of having a long history of excellent cooperation, which is based on the fact that these ties are consolidated by very many Israeli citizens who have connections to Romania, the same as there are many Romanian citizens having connections to Israel," said Emil Boc.
