The Largest Foreign Investors in U.S. Treasuries
According to U.S. Treasury data, the percentage of U.S. debt held by foreign investors was about 33.0% of the United States’ total debt load as of November 2013. At that time, non-U.S. investors held $5.72 trillion of the country’s $17.29 trillion debt. The percentage of foreign holdings compares to the the 31.1% level registered at the end of 2011.
