FLORIDA RE-PUB-LI-CANTS TELL POOR PEOPLE …BETTER NOT GET SICK…Jay H Berman

(R) FL. Gov. Rick Scott& his Tallahassee cronies think that good health, like a good education& lucrative career is the exclusive domain of, “the well-to-do.”

I’d thought my vacation from politics would continue until the end of the month. Nope, this can’t wait. The evil-doers aren’t the people our government told us we should we should be scared shit of. The real villains are none other than us. Huh? That’s right, us.

The guys holding the purse strings have the damned harness wound tightly around our collective throats & soon we won’t have to worry about the air quality!
In these terribly Un-United States today, if you’re struggling, those doing well give you the finger & laugh all the way to their favorite luxury resort. Bankers & brokers rule the world & only their best buddies don’t get snookered. So, my state, Florida, decided to compete for the national poster-boy contest of –
Who has the most stupid legislators?!
It’s kind of like NASCAR, because Florida, Texas & No. Carolina, yeah buddy, all heavyweight contenders for the big prize. Close behind are a bunch of – uh huh – other “Red” states. So if you’re not hetero-sexual you’re a leper, if you’re a woman the state owns your vagina, if you’re a likely minority (D) voter you’re disenfranchised, & if you can’t afford good quality health care insurance, . . . oops, well, sorry pal, . . .kill yourself!
Naturally, I wrote a letter to that nice lady working her butt off to unseat Scott & move into the Florida Governor’s mansion. (D) Nan Rich, a leader who wants the people who need, A Hand Up, to receive it; instead of a kick to the groin, a la’ the G.O.P. & its Mafioso Lieutenants, aka Tea-baggers.
The letter appears directly below:

Oct. 16, 2013
Dear Sen. Rich;
We the people, of Florida, have been unceremoniously thrown under the bus. The Republican leadership apparently thinks that health care for poor individuals should NOT be available!
. . . I can see no other reason for their rejection of federal funds under the A.C.A. Billions of dollars that should be allocated for “Medicaid Expansion.”
You are correct pointing out the economic facts resulting from Right-wing callousness & purposeful acrimony. Use of hospital emergency rooms for non-emergency care, insurance premiums increase, & our federal taxes subsidize states that opted in favor of the A.C.A. Medicaid Expansion formula.
Then it gets worse, as you’ve stated. Tens of thousands of new jobs in the healthcare industry will not become available in Florida.
Not by choice, I am permanently disabled. What is unclear to me is whether or not these funds shall have any net effect on “current” Medicaid recipients? As opposed to the unfortunate people currently uninsured & ineligible due to the rejection of these federal funds.
At present I am “covered” by Medicaid Reform. My prescription drug costs exceed $2,000.00 per month. Will I continue to have access to the medicine that prevents my death? The local Medicaid provider, S.F.C.C.N., has no information pursuant to these concerns.
Hmm, if not, will Gov. Scott pick up the tab for my funeral cost?!
I’ve followed your career for many years & will definitely lend whatever support I can. Me? I’m nobody really, just some guy.Yet, I fear my small voice may be representative of far too many others in unenviable situations beyond their control. This nation is NOT founded on the principle that all people are created equal, “except the poor.”
It’s time for Rick Scott to return to the private sector, where can continue his previous questionable activities; in the healthcare field, naturally, I’d expect no less.

Respectfully,
Jay H. Berman, (D)
