Паспорт человека, подозреваемого в причастности к убийству посла США в Ливии Кристофера Стивенса в прошлом году, обнаружен при обыске в доме одного из лидеров "Братьев-мусульман" Хейрата аш-Шатера.
По информации источников, на которые ссылается египетский информационный портал "Аль-Баляд", активист исламистского движения, имя которого не сообщается, фигурирует в списке ЦРУ, переданном в страны региона, передает ИТАР-ТАСС.
Кристофер Стивенс, а также трое других дипломатических работников погибли при нападении на американскую дипмиссию в Бенгази 11 сентября 2012 года.
Атаки на американские представительства в ряде арабских стран были совершены после появления в интернете отрывков снятого в США кинофильма "Невинность мусульман", который был расценен последователями ислама как оскорбительный.
"Серый кардинал" Хейрат аш-Шатер, второй после верховного наставника Мухаммеда Бадиа человек в исламистской ассоциации, пользовался огромным влиянием у "братьев" и вместе с тем - нелюбовью народа.
Именно он распоряжался финансами партии, непосредственно от него исходили многие решения исламистов.
На первых после свержения Хосни Мубарака президентских выборах он баллотировался на высший государственный пост в стране, однако был снят с гонки "за уголовное прошлое" - он вышел из тюрьмы на волне "революции 2011 года".
После него на авансцене и появился Мухаммед Мурси, смещенный армией с поста президента 3 июля текущего года.
Генеральная прокуратура начала в отношении аш-Шатера, а также ряда лидеров "братьев" расследование по обвинению в подстрекательстве к убийствам протестующих.
