There were conflicting reports about how the unidentified American died and his presence during the clashes in Alexandria between supporters and opponents of President Morsi Friday. According to Reuters quoting a senior security official, the man was stabbed in the chest while using his mobile phone camera outside Muslim Brotherhood HQ. He died in a military hospital. A medical official told AP he died from a gunshot wound. It is not clear if he was a teacher or a journalist. The US embassy is investigating.
