GOP To Subpoena Benghazi Survivors, Who Have Been Told To Stay Quiet

From the moment the terrorist attack occurred in Benghazi, the Obama administration started lying and hiding information. It pushed hard the story that the attack had nothing to do with terrorism, but was simply a movie review run amok. It hid the fact that it sat and did nothing as Glen Doherty and Tyrone Woods fought against the attackers for hours before dying on a Benghazi rooftop. It expressed no outrage that terrorists killed U.S. Ambassador Chris Stevens and, quite possibly, assaulted his body before or after his death.
The administration is still ducking and bobbing, because it refuses to let Congress talk to the survivors of the Benghazi consulate attack. The GOP, tired of the administration’s Benghazi cover-up in response to polite requests for information, is now planning to increase pressure on the administration by subpoenaing the survivors of the attack.
The Hill reports that
Exasperated GOP members say unless they get more answers from the White House, they will call on the survivors to testify before Congress, and might hold up President Obama’s nomination to replace the U.S. ambassador who was killed on Sept. 11, 2012 in Libya.
The recent revelation that U.S. survivors are recuperating at Walter Reed Hospital has sparked GOP demands that the White House provide Congress with access to them. It has also breathed new life into the controversy that was highlighted repeatedly during the 2012 presidential campaign.
It turns out that, while all eyes were focused on the deaths of Doherty, Woods, Stevens, and Sean Smith, the government spirited as many as thirty wounded survivors out of Benghazi, and is still treating as many as seven in Walter Reed Hospital. These reports mean that, as Rep. Jason Chaffetz (R-Utah) said, “That’s why this story continues to perpetuate itself. And it will not end, because the State Department’s not allowing us to put a nice, tight ribbon on it.”
Putting a ribbon on it is exactly what Democrats desperately want to do. “Benghazi is over and done with,” said Sen. Jay Rockefeller (D-W. Va.). It’s over and done with because Hillary screamed hysterically — but never actually answered — when she was asked questions about the dead on her watch? It’s over and done with because nobody at the State Department even got fired for this disastrous event? It’s over and done with because the dead can’t speak and the administration has hidden the living? And it’s over and done with because the administration cannot afford the righteous anger Americans would feel when they learned how administration incompetence left so many Americans exposed to a lethal attack?  Nope.  It’s not over and done with.
For months, Republicans have been demanding information about the survivors, about the State Department’s knowledge about risks before the attack, and about the State Department’s response during the attack. The most transparent administration ever has drawn a thick veil over the entire event and refuses to talk.
