Particle and Astroparticle Physics

Particle - & Astroparticle physics

Our research covers studies of high energy proton-proton collisions at the LHC and studies of the high-energy universe with X- and gamma-radiation and cosmic rays with satellite and balloon-borne instrumentation.

Research

Astroparticle Physics

We study the high-energy Universe by observing X- and gamma-rays as well as cosmic rays. The fundamental scientific questions currently addressed concern the emission mechanisms from compact objects and gamma-ray bursts, as well as the production of cosmic antiparticles, and the nature of dark matter.

Research

Particle Physics

The research of particle physics group is based on the frontline of hadron collider experiments. The main scientific goals are to search for the Higgs boson and to probe for physics beyond the standard model, where the search for supersymmetry is a key element.

Vacancies

Post doc position available

A post doc postion in astroparticle physics is open. The reasech work will mainly be on gamma-ray bursts using data from the Fermi Gamma-ray Space Telescope and future polarimetric missions.
