Video: Halifax mosque installs new dome

Waiting for Video...
A new dome was installed on a Halifax mosque as part of a multi-million pound refurbishment.
Residents and onlookers lined the streets to watch the installation of the dome on Madni Mosque, Gibbet Street.
The new Islam-inspired green dome was lifted by crane onto the roof of the mosque.
The dome, which replaces the former structure, has been moved further back and the new minaret is still to be installed.
The £2.5m refurbishment has also replaced the old facade of the building with a new Islam inspired facade and the mosque interior has been refurbished with a new heating and electrical system in the redevelopment project carried out by Archi-Structure - architectural and structural design consultants, based in Shipley. In the video project co-ordinator Mr Al Samarraie shares his inspiration behind the designs.
Appconstruction co-ordinated on the project.
Madni Mosque secretary Idris Mohammed shares his thoughts and thanks the community for their ‘generous donations’.
