Jim Inhofe: ‘We need some airstrikes’

Sen. Jim Inhofe, the ranking member of the Armed Services Committee, called for airstrikes on Iraq in response to the country’s deteriorating situation.
“I think we need some airstrikes,” the Oklahoma Republican said on CNN on Monday afternoon. “With the range the Tomahawks have, they can hit anything in Iraq if it becomes necessary.”

However, Inhofe said he does not recommend putting boots back on the ground to combat the militant Sunni group ISIS, which has vowed to march into Baghdad.

Inhofe, like many of his fellow Republicans, blamed the escalating crisis on Obama’s decision to withdraw troops from Iraq.
“We sent some very strong recommendations to the president and said whatever you do, don’t cut and run and leave the without any intelligence and other resources,” Inhofe said. “He did it anyway.
