House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.)
declared Tuesday that Democrats must constitute half of the Special
Committee to investigate Benghazi.
Pelosi gave more details in a statement released Tuesday morning:
Considering Pelosi wishes we could all talk about something other than "Benghazi, Benghazi, Benghazi," it seems odd she is so adamant to place an even amount of Democrats on the committee.
The only person currently confirmed on the Benghazi Committee is former federal prosecutor Rep. Trey Gowdy (R-SC). The House is expected to vote on the composition of the committee as early as Thursday.
The Benghazi attacks were a tragedy, we mourn
the loss of 4 brave Americans. If the House review is to be fair, it
must truly be bipartisan.

“The panel should be equally divided between Democrats and Republicans as is done on the House Ethics Committee. It should require that witnesses are called and interviewed, subpoenas are issued, and information is shared on a bipartisan basis. Only then could it be fair.”At first blush the request may seem valid. However, as Politico notes, very few committees are evenly split between Democrat and Republican members. Most committees have more members from the majority party.
