Fox News contributor Charles Krauthammer, as The Blaze reports today, has stated there is a scandal yet to be uncovered that he says is the “biggest scandal of all.” Numerous scandals have dominated the news in the last few weeks including the IRS scandal and issue of tapping phone calls and phone lines used by AP reporters, as well as the monitoring of email accounts of Fox News reporter James Rosen.
The biggest scandal, Krauthammer says, is the question of what the president was doing during those eight hours our consulate in Benghazi was under attack.
Krauthammer said, “The biggest scandal of all, the biggest question is: What was the president doing in those eight hours? He had a routine meeting at five o’clock. He never after, during the eight hours when our guys have their lives in danger, he never called the Secretary of Defense, he never calls the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs, he never calls the CIA Director. Who does he call? About five hours in he calls the Secretary of State. And after the phone call she releases a statement essentially about the video and how we denounce any intolerance. It looks as if the only phone call was to construct a cover story at a time when the last two Americans who died were still alive and fighting for their lives. There’s the scandal and that has to be uncovered.”
Some news organizations and reporters have raised this question, to which White House press secretary Jay Carney said it's irrelevant what the president was doing during those hours or where he was. Many believe it's important to know where the president was and what he was doing during those eight hours to assess whether he was properly carrying out his responsibility as commander-in-chief to protect the men and women serving us, in this instance those serving in the embassy and the consulate in Libya.
