(DAILY EXPRESS) -- THERE has been a huge surge in the numbers of young women turning to surgery on their intimate areas in the quest for a perfect "designer vagina".
Statistics from Transform Cosmetic Surgery show a 45% increase in the numbers of women enquiring about surgical procedures since 2010.
The average age of patients has dropped from 35 to 28, with more women now choosing to have surgery for aesthetic rather than medical reasons.
The most common reasons for the surgery are wanting to "tighten" the vagina after giving birth or wanting to improve the look down there.
People have also become more aware of and more willing to talk about such procedures thanks to TV shows such as Channel 4's Embarrassing Bodies.

Transform reports that enquiries for the procedures have grown from 2,400 in 2010 to 3,500 so far in 2013. Last year saw 3,900 women enquire in total, translating to 75 per week.
Shami Thomas from Transform Cosmetic Surgery says: “Labiaplasty can be a helpful treatment for women with enlarged labia minora who suffer from physical discomfort, hygiene issues or functional problems during sexual intercourse.
"Interestingly we see many mothers coming to us for these types of procedures after having had children, and they currently account for nearly half of all patients either having a vaginoplasty or labiaplasty.
“We put the increase in enquiries down to a growing awareness of the availability of the surgery and a desire among women to look and feel their best. Continue reading via Daily Express...
