Prada toilet, Chanel Guillotine and other sculptures by Tom Sachs

Tom Sachs, New York
Tom Sachs is an American,  contemporary artist whose interest in consumerism and branding lead him to create a series of these sculptures during the mid-90′s. Using old old scraps and materials from record stores and thrift shops, he put together his first major show at New York’s Morris Healy Gallery in 1995. Titled Cultural Prosthetics, it included the now-infamous Hermes grenade and Tiffany hand-gun. Three years later, a second exhibition, Creativity is the Enemy, opened at the same gallery: sculptures with titles such as Hermes Value MealPrada Toilet and Chanel Guillotine.
