Obama on Allegations Benghazi Whistleblowers Have Been Blocked From Testifying: ‘I’m Not Familiar With it’
President Obama on Tuesday said he is
unaware that anyone has been blocked from testifying on the deadly
Sept. 11, 2012, attacks on the U.S. Consulate in Benghazi, Libya.
“There are people in your own State
Department saying they have been blocked from coming forward,” said Fox
News’ Ed Henry, “that they survived the terror attack and they want to
tell their story.”
He is referring to recent reports that at least four officials at the State Department and the Central Intelligence Agency have been warned by unnamed Obama administration officials about testifying on the Benghazi terror attacks.
“Will you help them come forward and say it once and for all?” Henry asked.
“Ed,” the president responded. “I’m not
familiar with this notion that anybody has been blocked from
testifying. What I’ll do is I’ll find out what, exactly, you’re
referring to.”
“Our job, with respect to Benghazi, has
been to find out exactly what happened, to make sure that U.S.
embassies – not just in the Middle East but around the world – are safe
and secure, and to bring those who carried it out to justice. But I’ll
find out, exactly, what you’re referring to.”
“[T]hey’ve hired an attorney because they say they’ve been blocked from coming forward,” Henry persisted.
“I’m not familiar with it,” the president responded:
