to a lesser offense, earning him three years’ probation.
A pervy photographer groped an eighth-grade girl while taking her
school portrait — but was allowed to continue working in city schools
for another five years, the Daily News has learned.
William (Billy) Jasienowski, 52, of Manhattan, was busted by cops in 2007 for grabbing the girl’s breast on class picture day.
He was charged with sexual abuse and pleaded guilty to a lesser offense of endangering the welfare of a child, earning him three years’ probation.

But Jasienowski continued to take hundreds of school pictures as an employee of Thornton Studios until May 2012, when Education officials finally learned of the incident and cut ties with the company.
The company failed to conduct mandatory background checks on its employees, said schools spokeswoman Connie Pankratz.
“They are not eligible to work in our schools and will not receive any payments,” Pankratz said.

Patrick Carpenter, human resources manager of Thornton Studios, said the company has transferred Jasienowski to a clerical job where he no longer takes pictures.
“We had to take action,” Carpenter said. “Billy is a great photographer when he actually did it, but he doesn’t do too much of it now. He handles the order side of things.”
Jasienowski told investigators that he “did nothing wrong” when he touched the girl’s breast and that he only pleaded guilty because his attorney advised him to. The News was not able to reach the attorney for comment.
The case against Jasienowski came in a year when charges of sexual misconduct in city schools reached a record high.
The special schools investigator’s office reported a whopping 20% increase in the number of sex misconduct cases in 2012 over 2011, and a 19% increase in cases of alleged wrongdoing overall.
