Teacher training program focusing on white privilege exposed in Wisconsin

A teacher educational training program focusing on “white privilege” while creating separate standards for minority students in Wisconsin was exposed in a two part series on Monday and yesterday by EAGnews and profiled in a documentary titled, “Recreating America: Cultural Sensitivity in Wisconsin Schools”.
EAGnews stated that program was created nearly four years ago in 2009 by the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction, was supposedly developed to help school teachers and administrators better understand the challenges facing minority students, particularly black kids in the state’s K-12 schools.
“It argues that minority students sometimes struggle because public education is geared toward white students, and lessons are often delivered in a manner that minority students can’t understand,” said Steve Gunn, author of the two-part series story and documentary.
“CREATE Wisconsin (the acronym stands for “Culturally Responsive Education for All: Training and Enhancement”) is funded with grant money from the federal IDEA (Individuals with Disabilities Education Act) program. It costs about $890,000 per year to operate.”
“But the program seems to be heavily focused on creating a sense of guilt within white educators, and resentment among minorities, by portraying American society, and therefore our schools, as hopelessly racist,” Gunn said.
In the documentary, Gunn profiles a 2012 CREATE Wisconsin conference speaker, Dr. Geneva Gay, said that social change will need to be forced upon Americans in ways that probably don’t fit our democratic traditions.
“We know that social change is not something that comes about because people want to do it. There has to be some sort of mandatory kind of accountability tracking that’s going on. This requires fundamental change and change is difficult for most of us to engage with.”
Gunn said, “Our nation will continue to address its challenges and improve, unless we give our children the mistaken impression that we live in a hopelessly evil country built upon the unstable foundations of institutional racism and unfair distribution of material wealth. That seems to be the goal of CREATE Wisconsin.”
“The real question is whether Wisconsin parents want their children to learn such lessons, and whether they will continue to stand for the dissemination of this one-sided nonsense in publicly-funded classrooms.”
Early last year, the Paulding Republican Examiner reported on communist infiltration of America through academia, Hollywood, media, and other aspects of society through a covert operation of transforming America into today’s political correctness society. The seeds were cultivated underground into the 1950s, bloomed in the late 1960s and spread like wildflowers in the 1980s when political correctness began to dominate academia and education.
Whether such a training program exists in other states such as Georgia remains in question.
