Iran may have enough plutonium for 24 nuclear weapons

We reported on this a while back, but its in this news again this time from Debka.com.  They are reporting that the removal of the fuel rods from the Bushehr light water reactor may not have been due to a potential meltdown.  Just as the Wall Street Journal reported on December 5th, they are saying that these light water reactors can be used to create weapons grade plutonium very quickly.  This was discovered in the last century when a reactor in the UK had to be shut down and it was discovered that it was a fairly straightforward process to obtain large amounts of weapons grade plutonium.  If this is the case, Iran now has 220 pounds of plutonium available for extraction, enough for 24 nuclear weapons equivalent to the bomb that was dropped on Nagasaki.   If this is the case, then talks with Iran and even sanctions are now kind of a moot point.  They have delayed the international community long enough to be on the threshold of achieving their goal of obtaining nuclear weapons.  It seems that Iran is also cooperating (even though they deny it) with North Korea which has recently launched a multi-stage rocket into orbit.  Don’t forget, it won’t take several large nuclear weapons to cripple the United States.  All it takes is a couple of rockets with nuclear warheads detonating over the United States to take out most of the electronics in the country.  That would cause untold deaths as the food distribution, transportation, and other critical systems in the country break down.  Just look at what happened in the Northeast with Sandy after just a few days without electricity and other resources.
