Congressman Terry objects to Obama’s use of executive order on gun control

Congressman Terry objects to Obama’s use of executive order on gun control

Congressman Lee Terry objects the President Obama’s plan to use exeuctive orders to curb ownership of certain firearms.
Obama has signed 23 separate executive orders and paperwork to strengthen the existing background-check system, to improve mental health programs and to increase school safety. The president has called on Congress to reinstate the national ban on assault weapons and high-capacity ammunition magazines.
Terry says the president’s action violates the legislative process in which legislation must pass both chambers of Congress before arriving at the president’s desk. Terry says that if the House and Senate decide that plan doesn’t work that is “not a green light for the President to go ahead and do it”.
Terry says any steps that have been taken to counter gun control regulations have been blocked by Attorney General Eric Holder who is against guns owned by private citizens and “would take them away personally if he could”.
